Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 what exactly was the wargames match 2 teams. 5 men each. 2 Men, One from each team start off. After 5 minutes, a coin is flipped. The winner of the toss sends a rep into the cage. From thereafter, every 2 minutes a new guy goes in. Whence all 8 men are in the cage, you can win the match. The only way to submit is having your opponents Submit or Surrender. It'll put hair on your chest. Hate to nit-pick, but it's not always five-on-five, but I think you knew that because you said eight men later. Ah well. Adding on to that, War Games has the renowned destinction of being Dusty Rhodes one good idea, and a good one it was. Always used to blow off a faction/stable feud. It's a whole lotta fun, even though wrestling is hardly ever involved.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 WarGames 91 and 92 reeked of total awesomeness
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I just got done watching that match. Wiiiieeeeeeeerd. The ending to that match is so crappy. Luger is up and walking around just fine, then he gets clobbered and takes the Big Old Leg Drop to the face. For some reason, this cripples his legs and he has to crawl to the exit like a soldier who just got shot up on the frontlines or something. Hello!?
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 While I wasn't paying too close attention, I'm pretty sure the "leg crippling" was supposedly done by Fake Sting putting him in the Scorpian Deathlocke while everyone else beat him down. Now, never once did Luger look like he was giving up (he kind of just lied there) but I guess that was enough for Patrick, who was doing the evil reff thing at the time, anyway. You know, as an actual match, that sucked pretty bad, but as a way to continue the nWo storyline, it actually made perfect sense. You could understand why Luger would be suspicious of Sting because, after all, if Hogan could turn, anyone could. However, you can also understand why Sting would be pissed that pretty much everyone thought he had jumped ship when he hadn't. Character motivations that make sense is something that you just don't see in the WWE these days. And while '91 and '92 did rule, '87 is just balls out awesome, as well. I mean, come on - flying, ring-to-ring shoulderblocks? What's not to love there?
Guest DJ Jeff Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I would love to see a Wargames match in the WWE. Hell, that would make a good Survivor Series match. This would be the highlight of the Bischoff vs. Stephanie McMahon fued. Here's who I would have on each team: Team RAW Triple H Rob Van Dam Chris Jericho The Undertaker The Big Show Team Smackdown Kurt Angle Chris Benoit Rikishi Rey Mysterio Edge
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 The Big Show? All this is wishful thinking. These are all ideas that Vince McMahon didn't come up with, so we won't be seeing them.

I was such a mark then that I still mark out watching the show. Ah, the days..
Guest Si82 Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I would have to go for War Games, World War 3 and the Triple Cage. They were all good gimmicks. But the chances of Vince using them are small. Mind you he did bring back the nWo only to destory them. Oh well.

It's a whole lotta fun, even though wrestling is hardly ever involved. Whoops. Yeah, originally I thought it was 4 on 4, then I brought up Wargames '92 that I had downloaded and tried to cover my tracks. Also, if I were doing teams, I'd do this.. Team RAW Jericho RVD Bubba Ray Dudley (Could Bring the Old School Brawling like Dusty, probably could bleed a gusher too) Undertaker Tommy Dreamer (He'd be in his element, but they'd have to build him up strong.) Team Smackdown! Chris Benoit Eddie Guerrero Edge Kurt Angle Rey Myserio Jr. The story for Raw would be Jericho being named El Capitan by Bischoff, then getting a team of faces for allies. The other team would be Kurt Angle being named captain, then selecting the best, regardless of who's a heel/face. Give them 30 minutes, have at least 5 tap a gusher (I guess Rey would be impossible). The ending could be The Taker being forced to tap via a Crossface. Heck, with Taker in there, you could even re-do that Pillman spot with him and Rey Mysterio (if they choose to use the Double Cages).
Guest Si82 Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 Bring back the Judy Bagwell on a Pole match~! It was actually a Judy Bagwell on a forklift match 'cause Kanyon couldn't kind a pole to hold the weight.
Guest cabbageboy Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I actually thought the 1992 Wargames was a bit overrated. I mean, Eaton submits to a friggin armbar! I have not seen the 1991 Wargames so I can't comment. The 1987 one was really awesome and made sense. The LOD drove the spike into Dillon's eye, and since he is a manager he's submit pretty fast from that. The 1993 Wargames was crap, the 1995 one doesn't sound too great, the 1996 one is ok but not amazing, 97 had the Hennig heel turn at least, and 1998 destroyed the whole gimmick.

Guest chirs3 Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 Agh! I forgot about Edge! My revised list... Team Smackdown Kurt Angle (self appointed Team Captain that no one listens to) Edge The Rock (Team Captain) Chris Benoit Rey Mysterio Jr. Team RAW The Undertaker (Team Captain) Chris Jericho (wannabe Team Captain) Rob Van Dam Booker T Brock Lesnar (Undisputed Champ, so he could float - there was a bidding war to see which team he'd choose, Bischoff won)
Guest Choken One Posted August 9, 2002 Report Posted August 9, 2002 I don't agree with that.... Team Raw ------------------ The Undertaker (Captain) Rob Van Dam Booker T. Chris Jericho TeamSmackdown ----------------------- Kurt Angle Beniot Edge Rey Mysterio Meanwhile, WWE Title Match Brock LesNar Vs Triple H
