Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I've heard a lot of people complaining about a glut of PPV events, which leads to minimal match buildup, and so on. So what would you think if WWE eliminated certain PPVs and replaced them with CotC events (LIVE on MTV, cause everyone gets MTV) in those months instead?
Guest bob_barron Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Absolutely not. When the WWF did shows like Biggest Raw Ever and Smackdown XTreme- nothing really changed in the ratings.
Guest DokDoyle Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 There's a 2 hour cable show that they make a big deal out of every week...It's called RAW
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 11, 2002 Report Posted August 11, 2002 Vince has made a commitment to saving the best for PPV's. I mean WCW gave away PPV main events all the time, and look where it got them.

True enough, but at least before WCW had four or five hours of live TV every week the Clashes meant you could watch something important without having to pay 20 bucks or more for it. If PPV business starts bottoming out you could see it.
Guest razazteca Posted August 12, 2002 Report Posted August 12, 2002 the Clash of Champions concept could work if the split meant anything. This could be the place where wrestlers from the lesser known shows like Velocity & Heat could challenge each other or have Raw vs Smackdown matches. Matt Hardy vs Shannon Moore Ravens Flock vs OVW RVD vs Rey Misterio Jr as the Main Event!!!!!!!
Guest Strike Force! Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 No, it would not work. Basically, what you have today is Clash of the Champions. A lot of you are too young to remember the days of WWF Superstars on Saturday morning, or WCW Saturday Night..when it was chock full of jobbers going against the top guys. So next time you guys start griping about Chris Benoit not going over The Rock cleanly in the Main Event, just remember to be glad that at least your main event wasn't Sting vs. Sgt Buddy Lee Parker or Honky Tonk Man vs. Jim Powers.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I loved those Saturday morning jobber shows- bring back Nasty Ned!
