Guest the pinjockey Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I was not even going to consider anything but Madden, but then i read that Sega hooked up with ESPN and that they also cleaned up their franchise mode big time. So having not played 2K2 will these improvements bump it over Madden? I love madden to death but I am getting a little tired of the same old same old.
Guest Angle-plex Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Yeah, I always picked Madden, but I think I'll go with NFL 2k3 this year.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Rent both, then pick.. but it you don't want to do that... I'd go with Madden.. well, because it's Madden.
Guest mesepher Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 if you're not going to rent NFL 2K3 I'd say go with Madden... You can trust Madden, wher as the NFL 2k3 might blow big time
Guest Angle is Wrestling Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I'm going with Madden because.. MINI CAMP MODE OWNZ j00! also I want to import players from NCAA 2003 to Madden.
Guest NoCalMike Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 Madden 2003 is guaranteed satissfaction. You never have to wonder if the new one will be better or not, IT ALWAYS IS......
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 10, 2002 Report Posted August 10, 2002 I'm not a brand-name shopper, but Madden is one of the few exceptions to this rule...
Guest cartman Posted August 11, 2002 Report Posted August 11, 2002 I read alot about the Madden PS2 Online capabilities...Great idea but will they EVER release the friggin Broadband Network Adapter?!?!
Guest The Voices In Your Head Posted August 11, 2002 Report Posted August 11, 2002 I reserved both.... But honestly, of all the games I look forward to every year, Madden NEVER dissapoints.
Guest converge241 Posted August 12, 2002 Report Posted August 12, 2002 my younger brother works @ funcoland and they got copies of all madden is just on another level than the other two and the adapter is supposed to be out anyday. They are already sold out in most stores from pre-orders
Guest redbaron51 Posted August 12, 2002 Report Posted August 12, 2002 actually Madden 2001 kinda disappointed me a bit, but it was definitly made up in 2002
Guest DrTom Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I've read several reviews, and the games seem really even. There's something like a 2 point difference in their average scores, which is within the margin of error and thus insignificant. I'm leaning toward Madden because I know what I'm getting with the Franchise mode. My roommate, a friend, and I can all control different teams on the same Franchise save. I don't think 2K3 will have that capability, since Sega's World Series Baseball lacked it, as did last year's NFL game. I'll probably buy 2K3 once we've played Madden to death, or I'll just ask for it for Xmas. The X-Box versions of both look amazing.
Guest starvenger Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I don't think you can go wrong with either. Which is definitely a good thing - competition should mean that you'll have not one, but TWO solid franchises in the future.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 I've been playing the 2K series for the past few years so I'm going to pick up Madden for PS2 for a change of pace, and then later I will buy 2K3 for Xbox when Xbox Live comes out. That way I get the online version of Madden and can go online with 2K3. I think that's a good plan for owners of multiple consoles.
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 14, 2002 Report Posted August 14, 2002 After reading a bunch of things I think I am going to go with 2K3 just because it is something different. It has a thirty year franchise like Madden and I am a Draft mark so their setup should be cool. They have mock drafts, you can do your own mock drafts, and they have the ESPN set for the draft which I just think is cool.
Agent_Bond34 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I have been wondering which of these games I should get first, since I am getting some money pretty soon. I am leaning a bit towards Madden as Madden has been one of the top football games for a long time and rarely disappoints. 2K3 on the other hand looks amazing itself. Tough choice really.
Guest The Voices In Your Head Posted August 16, 2002 Report Posted August 16, 2002 Well, I already posted my thoughts on Madden, but since there isn't a thread on NFL 2K3, I figured I'd post my thoughts here: -started out with a SportsCenter intro w/Dan Patrick, which was kind of cool. -Despite Madden's improved commentary [talks a little more about the in-game situations] NFL 2K3 blows it away. There's commentary for the pre-game screens, the already-great in-game commentary, and then there's the post game and end of the week commentary. -The End of the Week show is a nice touch, but there's only one game clip, and it's repetitive from the one's I've seen [which is about 6 or 7 that I simmed for fun] -It plays similar to last year [which I have no problem with], but it seems a little slow. [keep in mind that I've only played a few games so far, so I'm sure I'll notice the little changes the more I play]
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 2K3 is pretty kick ass. I am still adjusting to the controls after years of the Madden style, but the visuals rule Madden and the Franchise mode is just as good as Madden after getting used to the menus. The only thing that threw me off was the fantasy draft was taking forever, but then I realized to hold the circle button to make it go.
