Guest Redhawk Report post Posted August 11, 2002 I would say the Rams are my favorite to win the Super Bowl this year (unless the Browns come through, but that's just wishful thinking), but St. Louis is starting to remind me of those Oakland A's teams from the late 1980s and early 1990s. They're always the favorites to win it all, they're dominant in the regualr season, but something always goes wrong. Remember how those A's were supposed to be this juggernaught, but they ended up winning just one World Series? Not that one World Series is bad, but the way people talked about Oakland, you would have thought they were a lock to three-peat. The Rams won that first Super Bowl, and then they got upset by the Saints the next year. Last year they're expected to blow out New England in the Super Bowl, and they fall short again. Is anyone picking St. Louis to go all the way in 2003?
Guest LexLugerRules Report post Posted August 11, 2002 As a Rams mark, I would pick them to win the superbowl. We have a above average QB The best Runningback Great Defence The best kicker A pretty good reciver. We have all the tools to win the superbowl.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted August 11, 2002 No, I don't think the Rams will win it all. Every defensive coordinator in the league watched the Super Bowl and got an object lesson in how to disrupt the Rams' high-powered offense. Mike Martz is NOT an offensive genius, despite the claims to the contrary, and while their talent is first-rate, someone will employ the Belichick defense against them and knock them out. Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 12, 2002 I agree with DrTom. The Rams will win 10+ games, simply because there are several defences that can't keep up with them (San Fran, Arizona, etc.), but other than San Fran, most of the powerhouse teams in the NFC are ones that the Rams probably wouldn't do that well against (Bucs, Eagles, Packers, Bears). The one weapon the Rams have that can't really be contained is Faulk, but they have not used him as effectively as they should since Vermiel left the team. Martz always wants to pass, and it will kill the Ram's chances. And I don't consider the Saints win two years ago an upset. The Rams needed help just to get into the playoffs, and the Saints would much rather have played them than the Lions or Packers, who were the other two teams challenging for the final wildcard. Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 12, 2002 Well, as long as their key 3 players stay healthy (Warner, Faulk, Bruce) they should easily win 12 games. They have good depth at WR, but if Warner or Faulk get hurt, the Rams are in trouble, especially if Warner gets hurt since right now they don't even have a backup QB thats healthy (their only backup thats even had one snap is Martin who is hurt right now) The NFC west wont be as big of a cakewalk as in the past, and while Arizona and Seattle aren't great teams, they could give St. Louis a challenge, and everyone seems to look forward to San Francisco and St. Louis playing. Guest DrTom Report post Posted August 12, 2002 The one weapon the Rams have that can't really be contained is Faulk... Absolutely. As scary good as he is, there's no excuse for him not touching the ball 35 times per game. Run him 25 times and he'll get you 100 yards on a bad day, then pass to him 25 times and he'll get you close to 100 more. There's no one else in the league who is such a nightmare for defenses to try and contain.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted August 12, 2002 the thing is underdogs always win the superbowl Not even close. They win when they prepare better for the other team. They win when they design their offense around their own strangths and their defense to exploit the opposition's weaknesses. But they're underdogs for a reason, and that reason is usually because they're just not as good as the favorite. Underdogs have pulled some memorable upsets, but they don't come close to "always" winning the Super Bowl.

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted August 12, 2002 You really want Marshall Faulk getting 25 receptions a game? I think the Rams aren't a team that is tremendously difficult to beat if you know how to do it. You have to try to contain Marshall Faulk to the point where he's not kicking your ass and you have to pressure Kurt Warner. A mistake that teams make is worrying about the receivers too much by having extra defensive backs. When they do that, Marshall Faulk makes teams pay. Almost every quarterback can be dangerous when given enough time, but Kurt Warner can be shown up if he is pressured.

Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 12, 2002 they are my pick over Indy in superbowl.. their biggest threat(s) in NFC will be 49ers- sure the d cant stop the rams but theyll have at least 2 shootouts. Eagles - if their d can hold em and donovan is always crafty Bucs - TB has an wasier division to rack up wins against and could have a shootout in a nfc title or playoff game

Guest Some Guy Report post Posted August 13, 2002 I don't know too much about Football, but I watched the Pats dominate the Rams in the Superbowl, save about 8 minutes. If the Pats, who were supposed to get killed by "The Greatest Show on Turf" beat them then why would the Rams win this year?
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 14, 2002 everyone seems to look forward to San Francisco and St. Louis playing. Being a 49ers fan, I always look forward to that game. Now that the Rams have become a much better team, it gives the 49ers and their fans another reason to hate the Rams, plus the fact that the 49ers fans want to see the 49ers kick the Rams' asses. Granted that didn't happen last season, but, hopefully you get the general idea. And as for the subject, I don't see the Rams winning the Super Bowl this year. Last year they got way too cocky for their own good and the Patriots kicked them square in the balls in the Super Bowl. I see them making the playoffs, maybe as far as either the divisional round or the NFC Championship game.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 18, 2002 The Rams are still the best team, On Paper. As for their execution...They lack. They certaintly won't have any problems with making it to the Playoffs with S.F as its lone challenge and they can each take a Spot nontheless. For the moment, St. Louis is the New York Yankees/L.A Lakers for Football...Smartest Pick. However...I've been feeling Green Bay for the Longest time. Something tells me....This will be Farve's defining season. Here's a list of the ONLY 5 teams who could shock this season ala New England/Baltimore. 1. Kansas City Chiefs 2. Buffalo Bills 3. Cincy Bengals 4. Indy Colts 5. Atlanta Falcons

Guest Choken One Report post Posted August 19, 2002 Actually...Giants don't look half-Bad this season. Nothing that'll warrant a Superbowl Season but perhaps a outside chance at Postseason. They seriously need to find a new QB and Collins can make a very adept Backup.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted August 19, 2002 Actually, this year reminds me a lot of '99, the year that the Rams last won the big one. There aren't really that many clunker teams and almost every team has at least some assortment of weapons - there should be a lot of parity in the NFL this year. That being said...I'd pick the Rams/49ers and the Steelers/Colts for this year's Super Bowl.
