Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 barron...you forgot the golden rule. Never, ever speak of SummerSlam '94 or the Undertaker vs. Undertaker match. EVER. That pay-per-view ended with Bret vs. Owen and you KNOW IT. It ended with Taker v. Faker- therfore Undertaker main evented Summ94- that was the big event of the card.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Is that guy holding the mic in barron's sig Jeff Jarrett?? barron...about the SummerSlam '94 thing...it's called a joke. Lighten up, junior.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I'll go with Chemical and say how it was hyped matters... WMX8 may have ended with HHH/Jericho, but the real Main Event was Rock/Hogan. Was Taker/Taker hyped as the big money match? Edit: I guess that's been resolved then.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 You still gotta change Austin- He was tag champ four times
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Bono looks like Jeff Jarrett minus 50 pounds of muscle in that picture.
Guest dilk bathoon Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 hell, owen was pretty late into his wwf career before he even won his first singles title.
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Sid's not really in contention. He was a 2x WWE champion and he main evented 2 WrestleManias, but that's about it. Diesel was a 1x WWE champion, a 1x I.C. champion, a tag champion (1x?) with HBK, and he main evented 1 WrestleMania and 1 SummerSlam. So basically, he did everything once. And he never won the KOR or a Royal Rumble. Owen...1994 King of the Ring, former I.C. champion, former European champion, former tag team champion...never won a Rumble, main evented one SummerSlam...nah, he's not even close to the top. Sid main-evented Summerlam '96, and the stats you listed should be enough to get him mentioned. Diesel main-evented two Wresltemania's, if you use the "headlining" theory. For Wrestlemania 13 he faced the Undertaker in the semi-main before the iron man match.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 I changed the Austin thing... With Shawn, with Dude, with Undertaker, with HHH, right?
Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Ricky- Vader main evented Summerslam 96. Diesel wrestled Taker at Wrestlemania 12
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Sid main-evented Summerlam '96, and the stats you listed should be enough to get him mentioned. How do you figure that Sid main evented SummerSlam '96? He wrestled Bulldog on the undercard. The main event at SummerSlam '96 was Vader vs. Shawn. You're thinking of the Survivor Series. And you have your WrestleManias confused... Boy, puro fans...
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Are we ignoring WCW Championships then?
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Yes, since this is a greatest WWE superstar topic in the WWE folder. Feel free to make one in the General folder, but Flair will take it hands down.

I mixed up Summerslam and Survivor Series again. I do that sometimes. I meant 12 instead of 13. I think you knew what I meant anyway. "Darn puro fans. Why can't they memorize every dang-fangled Summerslam main event? Have they got no decency? Darn cretins!"
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 No, what I mean is, during the inVasion, Rock and Jericho (in the WWE) won the WCW title. And Angle, too. Rock/Jericho held it twice each, Angle once... I think. Edit: And didn't Angle get the WCW US Title too?
Guest RickyChosyu Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 No, what I mean is, during the inVasion, Rock and Jericho (in the WWE) won the WCW title. And Angle, too. Rock/Jericho held it twice each, Angle once... I think. Edit: And didn't Angle get the WCW US Title too? Yeah, he won it from Rhyno, I think. It went: Booker gave it Kanyon (what a start) Kanyon lost it to Tajiri Tajiri lost it to Rhyno After that my memory blurs. Test won it afterwards, right?
Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Rhyno lost it to Angle Angle lost it to Edge
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Edge lost it to Test, then won the IC Title, and they were unified at Survivor Series.
Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Edge was IC Champ lost it to Test and then won the US Title from Angle
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Wait... Edge won the Unification match, and it became the Intercontinental Title... so shouldn't Edge have had the IC Title going into that?
Guest bob_barron Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Nope- Whomever won the war won the title names.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 All these "accomplishments" are bull since OMG OMG WRASSLINS FAKE and all this stuff is decided by the promoter. Now, if you want to talk about who drew money, you're coming upon a more accurate equation of who's "better" than who.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Ah - I thought it was decided by whatever title the winner held before hand... so if Test had the US Title and he won it would be US, if Edge had the IC and won it would be the IC... I get it now.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Yeah, but does holding a WCW title mean anything in the WWE? All these "accomplishments" are bull Then is it a big coincidence that the greatest performers in the history of the WWE are the same guys who have accomplished the most? No. Titles do mean something. They signify your progression to the very top of the business. The more gold that the company puts on you, the more that they believe in you as a draw.
Guest chirs3 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Yeah, but does holding a WCW title mean anything in the WWE? That's debatable. It meant something when Jericho beat Rock for it, finally "winning the big one". It didn't mean anything for the US Title to be passed around like a hot potato.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 That's not really what I meant. What I meant was, WCW title changes would be recorded in WCW's title history, so they are meaningless accomplishments in the realm of WWE. Yeah, it did mean something when Jericho won the WCW title. Not only did he beat The Rock, but he won the same belt that was once held by Flair, Sting, Goldberg, Hogan, etc. But was it a WWE accomplishment? No.
Guest SlowChemical6 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 ECW and WWE are the only two promotions where you can really argue who was the greatest ever. With NWA/WCW, how are you going to put anyone up against a 14-time world heavyweight champion?
Agent_Bond34 Posted August 15, 2002 Report Posted August 15, 2002 Rock had it, lost to Jericho at... No Mercy? ... or No Way Out? I forget. No Mercy
