Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Since we're into the Fantasy Football swing here, I thought I'd make a thread where we can post our rosters, ask for advice on who to draft, trade, etc in here. So I'll start it off. In one of the leagues I'm in, I have T.J. Duckett, I am being offered a trade for him, in return I would be getting James McKnight. Should I take this or not? Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Duckett will be a star RB, maybe by next year. The Falcons got Warrick Dunn (although they overpaid for him) and from what I've heard, Duckett is on the fast track to replacing Dunn at starting at RB sometime this year, although Dunn is pretty much guaranteed to start early on in the season. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I figure Dunn is gonna start early in the season. I picked up Duckett to add an extra backup RB as I have two backup RBs which I need. Is Duckett worth giving up for James McKnight though?

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Yahoo Public League opinions? only thing missing is a good TE which I am in trade talks for Shockey but not sure who to give up, the other guy wants one of my RBs Give up Lamar Smith if the guy will take it. Package Lamar and Dyson and see if the guy will bite. And if he won't take Lamar the only other rbs from your team i'd be willing to part with would be Duckett or Antowain Smith. Give up Duckett ONLY is this isn't a keeper league.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 16, 2002 My NFL.com team Manning, Peyton QB Williams, Ricky RB McAllister, Deuce RB Smith, Rod WR Ward, Hines WR Chamberlain, Byron TE Carney, John K Redskins DT Green, Trent QB Pittman, Michael RB Freeman, Antonio WR Chambers, Chris WR Branch, Deion WR Stevens, Jerramy TE I'm fairly happy with this team. I picked up Freeman as fa just in case he gets picked up by someone needing a veteren WR and i'm going to get rid of him if he doesn't. Yes believe it or not i drafted Pittman because i wanted him not because i had no better choices.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 16, 2002 but the thing is I really dont want to give up A. Smith and I found TJ as a FA today.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Yahoo Public League opinions? Nice team you got there. Brilliant choice at starting QB. You should've picked up Terrell Owens in the 2nd round when you had the chance, you would've had one of the best QB/WR connections in the game had you done so. Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I'll try to get a trade for Owens but I'm more of a RB mark than WR
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2002 I'll try to get a trade for Owens but I'm more of a RB mark than WR I can understand that. But, what's done is done and you still managed to get a decent team out of what you got. If you can get a trade for Owens, it would be a great move on your part. Owens can put up the numbers, make the big plays, beat double coverage, all the stuff a great WR can do. Now that he has a new positive attitude and his problems with Steve Mariucci are patched up for now, things are looking even better for Terrell Owens IMO. Whoever gets Terrell Owens on their fantasy team has a great WR, I can say this since I have him on three of my teams.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Being an ex-fantasy football player I've never seen having individual defensive players. Also something I never understood is being in more than one leauge. What if you're going against your own player. Do you get exited or do you remember you're facing that player and your opponent just scored points.
Guest LexLugerRules Report post Posted August 16, 2002 Hey, I have a Fantasy draft today, I'll update later today on who I got...
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 17, 2002 but the thing is I really dont want to give up A. Smith and I found TJ as a FA today. Well i used A. Smith as possible trade bait on your team just because he is still a gamble, but if you feel good about him then keep him. But like i was saying unless you have a keeper league Duckett isn't worth alot yet. If you're in a keeper league then yes you should keep him. If it's just a regular league then Shockey will be more valuable then Duckett this year so Duckett is expendable if you want Shockey. And if your looking for a Owens trade Dyson is the most expendable WR you have.

QB Griese, Brian (QB-Den) WR Moss, Randy (WR-Min) WR McCaffrey, Ed (WR-Den) WR Gardner, Rod (WR-Was) RB Allen, James (RB-Hou) RB Jones, Thomas (RB-Ari) TE Sharpe, Shannon (TE-Den) WR/RB Shaw, Bobby (WR-Jac) Bench Terrell, David (WR-Chi) Bench Collins, Kerry (QB-NYG) Bench Riemersma, Jay (TE-Buf) Bench Foster, DeShaun (RB-Car) Bench Stallworth, Donte' (WR-NO) Bench White, Jamel (RB-Cle) K Vanderjagt, Mike (K-Ind) Bench Mare, Olindo (K-Mia) DEF Washington (DEF-Was) Im hoping that Foster will start in Carolina so I can play him instead of Allen. Jamel White might also end up starting in Cleveland (voiding all the William Green hype) and I might be able to start him instead of Jones. I got screwed at RB, but was able to make solid picks at every other postition.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 17, 2002 Jamel White most likely won't start barring injury or horrible preseason play without improvement by Green. But even if not starting Jamel should be good for some goaline carries and tds.

Good team offensively especially at RB. You have the best RB in the league in Marshall Faulk, and a good, durable RB in Curtis Martin, and a great runner up the middle in Warrick Dunn. You did a fairly good job with that.

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 17, 2002 Nice team and the only risks you have on your starters is Griese and A. Smith. Griese isn't that big of a deal since even if he is injured and does play bad again you can just start Brooks. A. Smith isn't a big gamble but he still has a risk. But even if he does return to his mediocre self he'll start and get some tds. But your wrs will pick up the slack for A. Smith if he doesn't keep up last years pace so no big deal. Also, I was offered a trade, Warrick Dunn for Fred Taylor, is this a good idea to take the risk of having Fred Taylor on the roster?
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 17, 2002 Anthony Thomas - RB Warrick Dunn - RB Emmitt Smith - RB TJ Duckett - RB Also, I was offered a trade, Warrick Dunn for Fred Taylor, is this a good idea to take the risk of having Fred Taylor on the roster? Taylor for Dunn is kinda tricky. If Taylor can stay healthy he's worth alot more then Dunn would be. However the problem is that it's highly unlikely that Taylor will make it a whole season healthy. Dunn's value will plummet when Duckett takes the starting job by week 6. However Dunn will still get playing time in split backfields and as 3rd down back since he's being paid so much. So Dunn's value will likely dry up by midseason and Taylor CAN be a star when healthy. You still may be better off with sticking with Dunn who even as a "change of pace" back to the starter Duckett is a safer bet to produce then the injury prone Taylor. However you have three other decent back in Thomas, Emmit and Duckett so you are able to take the risk on someone like Taylor and not be screwed if he gets hurt. I guess it all depends on if you think Duckett will be starting by week 10. Taylor should be fine early in the season so if you think Duckett will become starter then you could replace Taylor in the second half of the season when he's most likely to be injured or decreased playing time. Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2002 Interesting assessment. I know Anthony Thomas is clearly my #1 RB, I have established that. I'll probably put in either Dunn or Smith to fill the two spot, unless I can get a better trade for a more reliable #2 RB.

Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2002 I dropped Duckett in favor of Clinton Portis, since Portis seems more likely than Duckett to be starting for his team in week one.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted August 18, 2002 Well Portis does still have to win the starting job in Denver.
Agent_Bond34 0 Report post Posted August 18, 2002 That is true, Portis still has to win the starting job, but, between he and T.J. Duckett, Portis seems the more likely of the two to be starting come week one. Or at least that's what I think. Either way, I'm in fairly good shape with my RBs at this point.
