Guest Anglesault Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 I think Austin would have been pushed no matter what the fans wanted.
Guest Goodear Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Whatever happened to the days of "we let the fans decide who to push" (see: Austin in 1996/7)? Are you trying to say they weren't pushing Austin before he got fan reactions? Come on now.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 No, that's not what I'm trying to say. I'm trying to say that he was pushed from a midcarder to a main eventer mostly due to his increasing popularity which couldn't be contained even if they tried. It's more than I can say about Lesnar.
Guest Goodear Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 I really don't think that's the case to be honest with you. Austin really didn't rope in the major league reactions until he started the Bret Hart feud. Austin just didn't catch on fire by himself, it took a lot of WWF effort to get him over.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Whatever happened to the days of "we let the fans decide who to push" (see: Austin in 1996/7)? There's minimal competition right now. The WWE can experiment with Brock whether we like it or not because, where else we will go for our major dose of wrasslin'? They had no choice with Austin in 97, it was push who the fans wanted, or die to WCW.
Guest alfdogg Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Kotr: Beats Hogan Next SD!: Beats John Cena with a backslide Nest SD!: Dras taker NSD!: Loses to Taker and Cena (with Jericho) NSD!: Loses to Rock Vengeance: Loses to Rock NSD!: loses to Mark Henry NSD!: Loses to Hulk Hogan, hets ass kicked NSD!: Loses to Cena, loses to Rey NSD!: Beats Mark Henry, gets ass kicked by Rey and Edge. You seem to be the only one who remembers or even cares about it. If I don't, I'm sure marks don't either. No he's not. I just never found a topic where I needed to bring it up.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 No he's not. I just never found a topic where I needed to bring it up. Damnit I was trying to make a point, ya filthy HHHater. Wins don't matter, unless they're essential to moving the fued or storyline forward. In this case, Angle still looks strong. You could have him job to a 5 year old and he'd still look bad ass. Why? Because he's Kurt Angle. Or I don't know. I just can't stand Sault's obsession Angle. It's creepy.
Guest alfdogg Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 I understand your point, I was just thinking it's bullshit that Angle goes from beating Hogan clean (which means Test probably will too before long) to having one decisive win-the one against Henry-in between now and then.
Guest cynicalprofit Posted August 19, 2002 Report Posted August 19, 2002 Rey wins the first match in a hard fought battle. Kurt beats the crap out of him, and cheats to win the second match, hes a heel after all. Rey then demands a respect match, and wins, Kurt wont shake his hand. They have a submission match because Kurts all like, you want me again, its gonna be by my rules. Kurt wins Final match, a regular match where they go all out again and Rey wins and after the match, kurt FINALLY shakes his hand. But alas, its just a dream.
Guest Dames Edna Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Have Rey beat Kurt Angle clean, then go on to fued with Eddy Guerrero where Latino Heat will defeat Mysterio. Eddie's Latinoism can only be contained for SO long, he should be champ, esay
Guest TestKick Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Rey squash Angle, so cruiserweights can finally gain some respect.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 You want this feud to go on for five months? And for Kurt to be made a fool four times? Christ.
Guest Austin3164life Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 In all honesty, I would book Kurt Angle to barely win here, yet I would let it be known that Angle won because he's just to clever a mat wrestler to be beaten by a risk taking daredevil. I would have Rey Jr. do all of his flashy, risk-taking offense to dazzle the crowd and shake up Angle pretty good. Later on in the match however, as soon as Rey thinks he has the win and lets his guard down, I'd have Angle outsmart Rey by catching Rey off the top when Rey goes for the Hurricanrana. He catches Rey in a powerbomb position, but shows his strength by lifting Rey, catching him again in an Olympic Slam position, hitting the O. Slam, and pinning Rey. Since Angle is somewhat of a tweener as of late, I'd have Angle not attack or belittle Rey Jr. after the match. However, I wouldn't have Angle shake Rey's hand. I'd simply have Angle stare Rey down in one of those "not bad, not bad" stares. Angle would keep his heat, and Rey would be known as giving Kurt a run for his money.
Guest Dames Edna Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Well we are all used to Angle being humiliated, why not have it continue? Atleast its not against Mark Henry
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The spunky little guy who just can't beat Kurt. That will do WONDERS for Rey.
Guest Dames Edna Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I think a win would do wonders for Rey....and the WWE wants to push his merch.
Guest TestKick Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 The "underdog almost gets the win, but looks impressive" moral victory has been played enough, especially with Rey in his career. If WWE is truly serious about pushing Cruiserweights, Rey has to win here. Angle gains NOTHING by beating Rey... and Angle will be in the exact same position, win or lose. Rey beating Angle cleanly would do wonders for the Cruiserweight division in my opinion, and would be the 1st giant step into getting the fans to buy into the fact that little guys aren't a joke.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 I think a win would do wonders for Rey....and the WWE wants to push his merch. Do wonders for Rey, Fuck Angle.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 It wouldn't fuck Angle, if he lost, shook Rey's hand, turned face, and went on to fued with Brock for the World Title, which he would win of course. But, then Brock would be fucked, so.... eh...i don't care

But, then Brock would be fucked, so.... eh...i don't care You can't honestly say that making Angle the cruiser sacrificial lamb to the cruisers (Guys that Test and William Regal mow down reguarly) by having him cleanly job to Rey and be the first heavyweight to lose a Big PPV match to a cruiser in God knows how long is GOOD for Kurt's career, right
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 It will end up being a screw job because, yet again, WWE has booked themselves in a corner.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 It will end up being a screw job because, yet again, WWE has booked themselves in a corner. Maybe a time limit draw?

Maybe a time limit draw? Better be a short time limit coz Angle would be gassed if it were 30-60 minutes.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 They will when Jim Ross is screaming "BAH GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REY BEAT ANGLE! REY BEAT ANGLE! THE CRUISERS HAVE RESPECT BAH GAWD! THEY NEVER BEAT NHEAVYWEUGHTS! OH MAH GAWD, HOW WILL ANGLE EVER LIVE THIS DOWN? Summerslam is brought to you by Chef Boyardee. Umm, Beefy!"
Guest CanadianChick Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Anglesault, I don't think that JR will push cruisers in any way shape or form. And its not because he loves hosses. Its just because the cruiser division is not o n Raw.

Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 If it will help make Kurt Angle look stupid, he will. Yeah, coz JR's goal in the WWE is to make Angle look stupid.
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 If it will help make Kurt Angle look stupid, he will. Yeah, coz JR's goal in the WWE is to make Angle look stupid. It's the WWF's MO. Can you think of one other reason why Kurt Angle needed to be RESCUED from MARK HENRY AND JOHN CENA?
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Coz they are trying to get Cena and Henry over
Guest Anglesault Posted August 20, 2002 Report Posted August 20, 2002 Am I the only one who sees the humor in that statement?
