Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 Ok you will see my inagural tape rant either thursday or POSSIBLY wednesday. But after that, which of the following would YOU like to be reviewed and ranted on by moi: FMW Flying Assasin: Hayabusa WCW All Nighter(the first one) if this one wins, you will see it in a week or so compared to next tuesday if you choose the one of the other 2 shorter ones. The all nighter is 6 hours. ECW Extreme Evolution. vote away.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 Mark down a vote for WCW All Nighter.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 Unless some militant crowd of ECW and FMW marks attack me at gunpoint, all nighter it is. im the only tape reviewer in history with the balls to review this show. well maybe not in history. oh well ALOT of steamboat on this show baby! BTW, this show contains the greatest match of all time is well. keep your eyes tuned to this forum
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 21, 2002 Report Posted August 21, 2002 I want FMW because I never know which of there 20 DVDs are worth buy.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 since ill most likely be reviewing all nighter, flying assasin will probably come after that. Get that and the masato tanakaFMW dvds and ull be set. the king of the deathmatch one is pretty sweet too. As is the yokohama deathmatch. yeah get all of those.
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I think I have King of the Deathmatch. That the one with Kanemura-Cactus, Kudo-Toyota, Funk/Pogo-Tanaka/Hayabusa?
Guest areacode212 Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I want FMW because I never know which of there 20 DVDs are worth buy. FMW - The Flying Assassin is OK, but I don't know if it's worth buying. It has exactly 3 matches on it, and the commentary from John Watanabe and Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski (from The LAW) gets annoying after a while. The matches are good, but I kind of expect more from a DVD. You're probably better off paying someone $20 for a Hayabusa comp tape.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 yeah Rob thats the deathmatch tape. I love the masato tanaka/hayabusa match and the graphics and shit are pretty sweet.
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 24, 2002 Report Posted August 24, 2002 I think it was similar to the WWF's Best of 2002 show, except the All Nighter was complete matches from the last several years. Very good concept, which I'm surprised the WWF never capitalized on.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 24, 2002 Report Posted August 24, 2002 Rob got it right and the second(and last) one featured the 10 Greatest Clash Matches of All Time. While i agree with a few, (the winner was flair vs sting from clash 1...soo overrated) some matches were definitely left off: STEAMBOAT/FLAIR FROM CLASH 6 HELLO? ITS NOT JUST THE GREATEST CLASH MATCH EVER ITS THE GREATEST MATCH PERIOD! Thats very surprising to me seeing how steamboat was still competing and his match with Austin was no.7 i believe. Midnights/Fantastics from Clash 1. Better than sting/flair IMO. Have no fear the one i will be reviewing is the first one. BTW, clash10 is coming MONDAY. Definitely monday. Circumstances beyond my control(i.e i needed a new vcr) delayed the review.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Sting/Flair from clash 1 ruled the earth...to an extent. I didn't watch much NWA/WCW then so i can't judge. War Games 91 = Ruled. (Yes i actually saw the match and am not reflecting on any rants i plagerized)
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I thought the Clash 1 match was ***1/2. A lot of resting and no-selling on Sting's part is what held it down from greatness.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Well, thats because Sting never worked a 45 minute match before I don't think. Especially with anyone as good as NATCHA BOY Ric Flair.
Guest Mark4steamboat Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I agree with Rob. Way too much resting and Sting ALWAYS went back to the headlock following every move. Sting was still really green so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt but he knew more of an arsenal than he used that night, judging by the things ive seen him do in Mid-south. Personally, i was around a *** 3/4 as well. I enjoyed it but i cant give it **** in good conscience.
Guest Gamengiri2002 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 In reagrds to Flair/Sting, I'll go * * * *. No more. I think, if anything for atmosphere and definite watchability that it was a great match. Above good, far below excellent. But I continue to enjoy the match every time I see it (which, as with a lot of my top 200 matches[the only matches i watch repeatedly], is quite often) and it kicked Mania's collective ass that night.
