Angle only lost by count out.  .

To a jobber. Translation: Angle can't beat the guy who has heated matches with Crash Holly.

Actually, my man Crash is on the RAW brand. Anyway, the translation isn't that Angle can't beat Kidman, it's that the ONLY way Kidman could beat Angle is by count-out. The way the match was going before Mysterio's later interference and the German and Angle Slam over the top rope after the match made it very clear that Angle was in control.

Heck, didn't Triple H lose by count out to the Brooklyn Brawler once? I doubt that made him look like a loser.

Or, they could have had Angle beat kidman like he did Godfather earlier this year, then have Rey sneak attack him, and Angle fume in the ring about Rey outsmarting him again! rey looks strong, Angle looks like he can beat someone who isn't a 400 pound fat ass, and people may not know who is winning on Sunday!

Anglesault can't get over the fact that Angle lost to Kidman period, and is failing to look at anything except that one fact.

If you look at the big picture, it all makes sense in my eyes, just like DDT just said.

Here, let me put it like this...

...Mysterio is trying to get in Angle's head to gain the "mentle edge" for their big PPV match. Durring the Angle/Kidman match tonight, Angle was obviously being driven crazy by Mysterio, as seen by his constant looking behind his back and even attacking a fan. When Mysterio came it, that is was it. Angle took chase putting the match he was in on the back burner, as if he even forgot he was in the match. When he realized what he was doing, and that Mysterio was doing nothing but trying to drive him that much more insane, his competitive side stood up and made him realize that he is about to loose a match, BECAUSE of Mysterio. He tries to run back to the ring, but to no avail, and Mysterio gains an edge going into the PPV match.

That's how I interpreted it as well, and the beatdown on Kidman afterwards only solidified to me that Angle would've won. Maybe if he hadn't given the beatdown afterwards it would've made Angle look bad, but as is it's fine.

Becauise HHH wasn' humiliated week in and week out for 6 months prior to that.

I see your point Downhomme, I think it just goes back to the fact I would rather see a more kick ass Angle who would rather forget about his match with Kidman to get his hands on Mysterio who jumped him. Probably in general it is the feud itself. There is no way Mysterio can really get heat physically so he must trick people and Angle has already been made a fool of so much that every little thing is just starting to add up.

Anglesault, off topic, your signature litterally makes me cringe, it's THAT bad.

Yes, I understand that it helps the match at Summerslam, but soon, the fans have to catch on to the fact that Angle NEVER wins, so why in HELL should he challenge for the WWF title?

I don't know who's winning on Sunday...

The difference between Kidman and Godfather though, is that in The Godfather's last run, he was unquestionably a jobber, and thus it was "OK" to squash him like that.

Also, Rey costing Angle the match will just make Angle even more mad, given that he's such a proud competitor. The way it is, Rey definitely outsmarted Angle... besides, with the sneak attacks earlier by Guerrero and Benoit, it wouldn't really make Rey look like he was doing anything new or unique. Granted, costing anyone a match is far from new, but yet another beat-down will cause even the markiest of marks to yawn.

I agree with you, but I liked the added touch of allowing Kurt Angle's natural compettitive side being shown (his running back to the ring). The guy doesn't want to loose to anyone, anyway, and will ultimatly ignore other things in order to get the job done.

I see all of this as sorta setting the groundwork for Angle to finally be looked at as a serious threat. It's really allowing for more of Kurt's character to be shown, which is a good thing.

Exactly, so Angle loses by count out? The finish made perfect sense, and seemed to continue the Rey-Angle feud quite nicely. It seems like the feud is being built around Rey being an annoying little gnat who keeps getting one over on big, bad Angle. The ending just further that.

I still think they should book Angle/Mysterio as I have said many times before.

The fans still cheer for Funaki...

Plus, he's been made to look FAR worse with, say, the thong deal than this one simple loss.

Anyway, I've gotta go (sister... grumbles...), but if you want I'll be back later. I know what you're saying AS; Angle has been made to look like a fool lately, just not tonight.

And Kidman is a non jobber who always loses?

The guy doesn't want to loose to anyone

And yet, he loses to everyone.

The serious threat who loses everymatch he's in?

I figured it out. They just continure jobbing Angle unmercifully, but keep mentioneing how proud he is. In December, after he loses to Funaki, he kills himself, and BAM, instant wayt to give him time off for the Olympics!

And wouldn't they? Funaki is awesome. His latest gimmick as an interviewer rocks.

Although Anglesault frequently sounds like he has a bad case of herpes, I really feel that he has a point. Angle has been made into the fool. But then again that is the trend of Smackdown's heels. I thought Eddy and Benoit looked pretty bad ass tonight (Until Eddy got pinned by that F'N spear). Look at Jamie Noble (Yes I'm speeling it correctly now) he is very misused. Look he reversed a move by Shanon Moore, but look Shanon moore is one step ahead! Noble's Always one step behind. Always getting his ass kicked. Yeah, he's got the belt, but he looks miserable on TV. Pisses me off. And oh how those heels fall victim to Edge's backbody drop of DOOM! Sometimes I feel like Pimp slapping Anglesault when he pposts 8 times about Edge's spears, but he has very valid points. And I would never pimp slap our intercontinental champion. Of course Anglesault is by definition a heel, and we get to make heels look rediculous sooooooo....

I like how they let that young up an comer Kurt Angle take that grizzled multi time world champion Billy Kidman to the limit before putting Angle back in his place.

Yup. They sure do a good job of protecting that youngsters heat.

By the way, whatever happened to WWE going towards a "submission" style? We saw signs of it for a few weeks, but here lately that has seemingly ended. Am I missing something, or has that ended already?

Well, when the people with prominant submission moves are jobbing all summer (Angle, Benoit) or getting their pants pulled down and trashed (Jericho) It's hard to win by submission.

Hey Anglesault wasn't little Billy's handspring reversal of the anklelock a "whatta manuever" moment?

Good booking there Vince....

I really have nothing to get involved with, except for one thought... I'm posting this without looking at the previous pages of this thread, so forgive me if it's already been said...

But what the fuck is up with the booking of Rock/Lesnar?

I don't like Brock, and I doubt I ever will, but this is a problem that's plagued him since he set foot in the WW_, the problem being that he hasn't been booked to look strong. Since his debut, Heyman has constantly gotten involved in his matches, and on the previous SD and Raw, he gets taken out by kicks from a fat samoan and a washed-up icon.

Now, on this latest Smackdown, Lesnar comes down and gets in Rock's face after the Main Event, and eventually they brawl. Keep in mind that The Rock has been referenced as having a nearly broken rib, and he had just gotten done with a grueling tag match.

Back to the confrontation... Lesnar and Rock are brawling, and suddenly Rock knocks Lesnar out of the ring, with no retaliation from Lesnar.

I'm sorry, but logic dictates that if you're injured, not to mention winded and tired from a match, you shouldn't be fighting off a "monster" with no trouble.

Maybe I'm sick of the Superman act used by The Rock, and many others before him. But it's still not a good way to build up your challenger going into a Title Match.

It makes perfect sense, in that Brock's still the new guy who'll get knocked down but keep on coming back for more but Heyman holds him back. They needed that for the sell. People don't go into SummerSlam wanting to see Brock win. Of course they want it to seem like there is a challenge for the rock, but they want people to go in and think the Rock is finally going to take out Lesnar, for Hogan and all.

This is not Southern beatdown anymore, where the heels rule and the faces are wimps. It is WWE style where the faces are blond and strong, and the heels are made to look like tools, unless they are Iron Virgins like Angle and Molly. Then they are goofy and made fun of.
