Kidman! If Angle can't beat Kidman, why in all hell should he beat Rey, who actually wins matches?

Have that many people really gone over Kidman in his WWE tenure? The only guys I can think of really are some cruiserweights, maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

I think your next statement was the point of making the match-up end the way it did. Even though he lost though, I thought they made it pretty apparent that Angle would've won were it not for Mysterio's interference.

I agree fully, and I think if the ratings were less stable and business kept dropping they'd be more apt to "risk it", but from the WWE's viewpoint, the guys'll draw the same no matter how they wrestle, so why bother?

I do not agree with that thinking. It is my view that if there was EVER a time to go into a new "style", it's right now. They have tried so much in the past year and a half and so much of it hasn't worked, but they are still making a profit, trying something else new like what I propose surely wouldn't HURT things.

Angle: Tonight, I'm going to show what I can do against Billy Kidman!

::Angle jobs to Kidman::

There you go, guys.

I didn't have a problem at all with how Kidman/Angle ended tonight. I think, if anything, WWE should be given credit for at least trying to build up for a big PPV match. The Kidman/Angle match did just that, and for that, I understand their reasoning, for once. :D :D :D

Edge pinned Eddie Guerrero! That means Guerrero's gonna win on Sunday, right?

Watching The Rock in the match tonight was a prime example of why I say he doesn't put anyone over. Ever since he tapped out to the CrossFace, it seems that he's gone out of his way to no-sell it. This week he even went so far as to disrespect it by "powering out" as if it were a sleeper. Not to mention when he was first tagged in he was in full no-sell mode, complete with kip-up... damn you Rock!

He beat X-Pac Twice and Tajiri twice. I'm goning to go out on a limb and say Kidman has had more that four matches.

So, have him win, THEN have Mysterio attack. Why make Angle look like an idiot YET again and have him chase Mysterio away during the match?

TestKick banned? What did he say? I mean... let's start the EVENFLOWDDT LIVE* SMACKDOWN COMMENTARY!

wh00! Fun cruiserweight match... the bit where Nidia went down on Shannon Moore and Tajiri came in with a kick to the face was gold.  Hmmmm... can it be, a new Three Count?

Well, not "new" as much as a semi-reunion. Flyboy calls them "Near Fall" but I dunno if he originated that name. :)

For the record I made that name in the Velocity thread a few weeks back.

I totally agree, if only Vince & Co. would...

By the way, whatever happened to WWE going towards a "submission" style? We saw signs of it for a few weeks, but here lately that has seemingly ended. Am I missing something, or has that ended already?

Yes, have Rey run away in fear from Angle and have Angle be unable to beat the Smackdown Jobber. They look strong.

Having his focus broken during the match is supposed to show just how much Mysterio is getting under Angle's skin. Costing a match is also a "classic" way of increasing a feud, although it only really makes sense if it's being cost a championship match.

Well, when the people with prominant submission moves are jobbing all summer (Angle, Benoit) or getting their pants pulled down and trashed (Jericho) It's hard to win by submission.

I was just about to say that same thing. I don't agree however that it only makes sense in a championship match though. Mysterio obviously is trying to get under Angle's skin in order to go into the PPV match with a "mental advantage". Call me crazy, but I thought this was quite clear on SD tonight.

But it just furthers this "Angle is an inept, blithering idiot" storyline that they have been doing in hyperdrive since WM, which I THOUGHT they were trying to shed. Silly me. Angle since Wrestlemania 11-17. Two of those wins are cheating wins over Bob Holly, two are a win over Mark Henry and a fluke over John cena. Two are tag matches where he didn't make the pin. But GOD DAMNIT, he's the future. or something.

interesting.. this monday.. pledge.. Brock is there.. Rock isn't... mmmm... you'd think the champion would be at this, right?

Brock's winning at Summerslam.

There is NO way they wouldn't send the WWE champion to this.

If brock does win the title... wouldnt it make more sense for him to show up at Raw then at the voting thing...

If this voting campaign shit is anything like last year's, they'll continue to run it at different locations throughout the country. Maybe Rock will attend one of those instead.

True that. However I don't understand why they cut the psychology from cruiserweight's, particularly Jamie Knoble's, recent matches.

If you think about it, who in the WWE other than Knoble, Benoit, Angle, and Jericho have prominent submission maneuvers?

I have to agree with AS on this one. When you are booked strong you can afford to be fooled once in a while. But when you are booked to look like a fool for a stretch and keep acting like a fool (leaving your match to chase a guy) you are seen as a fool.

Even if Brock wins the title, I will not view him as a champion, period. There is NOTHING about him that says "World Champion", period. I like to think of him as a type of belt warmer, keeping it tidy for the REAL champion or something. Sort of how I looked at The Big Shows reign.

It's pretty sad when the Billy Kidmans to the Mark Henrys to the John Cenas are just shrugging off submissions as if they were nothing.

I agree with that, but I don't think Angle came off as a fool tonight. I looked at it as he was simply that determined to get Mysterio, that it lead to him not caring for the match he was in. After he was counted out, he got the beat down on Kidman, so no loss there.

I think it's pretty good story telling in this feud so far, but hey, that's just me.

The Big Show reign was an abortion not a belt warmer. The only thing the Big Show did to warm the belt was shit on it. A title feud was brought about by

Big Bossman: "Hey Paul Wight youre a nasty bastard and your momma said so."

I would agree with that except for the fact he turned around and went back. If he would have just kept running after him I would say he said screw the match, but he got to the ramp turned around to give a look like he screwed up like an idiot and ran back basically saying he did care about the match and blew it like a fool.

I agree with you about that I guess, but you see my point. TBS's reign was nothing, and I look at Brock just like that. As for that quote...

...DAMN YOU for putting that quote down...

Hey Paul Wight youre a nasty bastard and your momma said so.

...that is on of the funniest quotes EVER in Pro. Wrestling.

This is true, but Mysterio's mind-games work more towards establishing him. Even though Angle's reputation has taken an undeserved HELL of a beating lately, Mysterio's still too new to really have a reputation amongst the marks, thus more build up for him is necessary. Otherwise, the squash on Sunday is obvious, and in all likelihood, Angle will still win.

Angle only lost by count out. It is no big deal, and it will be forgotten about soon after anyway.

Making him look like a tool.

"Hmm. I'm in the middle of a match where I said I would make an example of someone, should I

a) Abandon the match and chase my oponent for a later match away

B) Continue with the match I am currently in.

Hmm, that's a hard one"

Some thought process there.

Have Angle trounce Kidman, have Rey attack and bloody Angle. Angle beats a jobber soundly, Rey attacks Angle without runninf for his life. Everyone is happy.

Angle only lost by count out. .

To a jobber. Translation: Angle can't beat the guy who has heated matches with Crash Holly.

Yea, but who's to say that Brock won't regularly defend the belt and put over "underdog" opponents like 'Taker?

Here, let me put it like this...

...Mysterio is trying to get in Angle's head to gain the "mentle edge" for their big PPV match. Durring the Angle/Kidman match tonight, Angle was obviously being driven crazy by Mysterio, as seen by his constant looking behind his back and even attacking a fan. When Mysterio came it, that is was it. Angle took chase putting the match he was in on the back burner, as if he even forgot he was in the match. When he realized what he was doing, and that Mysterio was doing nothing but trying to drive him that much more insane, his competitive side stood up and made him realize that he is about to loose a match, BECAUSE of Mysterio. He tries to run back to the ring, but to no avail, and Mysterio gains an edge going into the PPV match.

After the countout Angle beats down Kidman, as to say "I could have beaten you anyhow, so there" and that is that.

I may be reading much into it, but this is the way it came across to me. It brought out the fact of Mysterio trying, and succeding in gaining that "mental edge", and also showing Angle's competitive side in realizing finally he was even in a match.

Like I said before, great story telling, for a change.
