Guest Mulatto Heat Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I haven't even been here a week and this is at least the third time I've seen this argument. Just saying... This should say something to you, and to the WWE. We want RVD as champ. Make it happen. I wasn't just talking about the RVD/Champ thing, but also the Benoit/charisma thing. Is it commonplace around here to have it discussed every second or third day? It's funny how the anti-Benoit people are either sounding like a broken record or responding with rather petty comments like "that post sucked" and "awaiting for the 'Benoit is LOADED with in-ring charisma' argument". I know some of you can do better than that!

Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Cmon, surely we all love Benoit's ring work, right? Its just some see him as a world champ, and some don't
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Zsasz, at least the pro-Benoit people are selling the other side's comments, and avoiding cheap shots.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Cmon, surely we all love Benoit's ring work, right? I do! I do! I just don't want him as champ until he develops some chrisma.

Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 This should say something to you, and to the WWE. We want RVD as champ. Make it happen. [Vince McMahon logs off his computer] Vince: Holy shit! Some random guy on TheSmartMarks board is telling me to put the belt on RVD. I better make it happen! [The next night on Raw, RVD challenges Brock for the title. In the main event] Brock [bouncing around]: o/` Happy Dance.. Happy Dance... Happy Dance... o/` [RVD comes out of nowhere, enters the ring from behind and cradles] Brock: UGH! Ref: 123! *dingding* [The Raw crowd goes nuts, streamers fall from the ceiling around the ring, fireworks go off like mad on-stage. The music blares and everyone is shouting their lungs out, blah blah blah] [The next day...] Vince: The hell? Raw only did 4.2! JR: Well, you know, it's better if you have a story leading up to this kind of thing. You could have had a plot that would have led up to, I dunno, WreslteMania or something. Vince: .....

Vinnnie Mac comes here. He must be Testkick
Guest alfdogg Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 No. TestKick isn't even smart enough to think *that* up.
Guest Brian Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Eddy's had one major injury and one drug problem during his career. We all know RVD's history with drugs so it's not even really worth discussing, and I'm not banging on either guy. Benoit has lots of in-ring charisma. He knows how to convey traits of different characters in his in-ring work. He gets a good reaction. Yes, RVD gets a great crowd reaction but as I've said before, their tru chance has passed. If they wanted to capitalize on the guy who's hot, it's Booker T. Let the guy win some matches and see where that takes him.
Guest redbaron51 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 If RVD gets the belt next PPV, all of you guys would hate him, turn him into shit, just like you did to Jericho.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 If RVD gets the belt next PPV, all of you guys would hate him, turn him into shit, just like you did to Jericho. We hate Jericho? I see your point though. The 'net loved HHH and HBK before.
Guest alfdogg Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 If RVD gets the belt next PPV, all of you guys would hate him, turn him into shit, just like you did to Jericho. Dude... YOU might hate RVD, but don't tell us who WE'RE gonna like should something happen. That's a bunch of bullshit. And I didn't do SHIT to Jericho. I never even saw that match. Your argument holds no water.
Guest Brian Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Actually, he's referring to the period where Jericho was booked like shit and we all turned around and said that the title reign was bad for Jericho when before we were clamoring to get the title on him.
Guest Flyboy Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 If RVD gets the belt next PPV, all of you guys would hate him, turn him into shit, just like you did to Jericho. That's why you... Hmmm... BUILD up the win. Have Angle win the title at the next PPV. RVD should win Royal Rumble, and face Angle at WMX9. It's not that hard.
Guest alfdogg Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Yes, Brian, but he kind of implied that we were blaming Jericho for the title reign being bad, when that wasn't the case.
Guest Shanghai Kid 2002 Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Angle is the best combination since HBK, not RVD. RVD might be over with the crowds, but let him main event a ppv and I bet the buyrate would go down the toilet. The guy is over, but he's not a draw at all. He's only half as popular now as he was when he first came to the WWE...that was the time to capitalize. Now he just has to wait for his time to come. Here's a list of guys who should get the title before RVD. Kurt Angle- I think everybody will agree that Kurt Angle is the most valuable player in the WWE. The guy is always over, except when he's a face. He should be the next guy to get the title. Booker T- Booker is getting up there in age, and the time for him to get this push they've been teasing is now. I don't get the WWE, they could of made Booker the #2 face by now, but they keep stalling his push. It goes up and than down. Booker should be posistioned as the #1 face on Raw sometime soon...a feud with HHH would be GOLD. Ric Flair- Ya I said it. They gave the title to Hogan, so why not give it to Flair one last time....I might get some backlash for that one. Bottom line, RVD is at the same stage as Brock, neither are ready to be the champion and neither are that much over.
Guest Brian Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 And I think Jericho's right up there next to Angle when he's given the chance.
Guest El Psycho Diablo Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 This is wierd..but.. Booker? I love the guy and all..but..his matches get cricket chirps. The entrance gets a pop, spinaroonie gets a pop, and sucka gets a pop. The rest of the time it's silent. RVD's easily the second most over guy on the roster. You talk about RVD not being a draw, but Flair and Booker are? Ookay.. Flair's drawing power was killed years ago. If Hogan can't draw, Flair won't be able to either. Hogan only got the title because of this "the fans demand it.." BS. However, when it comes to RVD, the WWE cheerfully ignores the reaction he gets. Comparing Van Dam's reaction to Lesnar's is just criminal. It's not even in the same league.
Guest alfdogg Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I agree that Flair should get the title again if Hogan did, because Flair CAN still bring it in the ring, no matter what anyone else tells you. But: 1) It's absurd to say that RVD isn't more over than Brock. 2) Do you REALLY think that HHH will put over Booker T?
Guest RicFlairGlory Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Bottom line, RVD is at the same stage as Brock, neither are ready to be the champion and neither are that much over. This is a fucking joke, right?

Guest Mystery Eskimo Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 Well RVD is over, but he's not ready to be champ. Why? He needs to grow another foot and put on 100lbs of course. Also: Benoit DOES have charisma. Flair being champ again would be a total joke.
Guest BionicRedneck Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 RVD is about as tall as Austin and Bret (arguarbly the best two champs), so I don't think that is a problem.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 That is the most unfunny post I have ever read in my life. That is correct. I am The Most Unfunny Man On These Forums.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I like to draw pictures. Oh, wait, that's not what you're talking about... On topic: I do think they missed the boat with RVD. In a dream world I'd keep it on Rock and let him have an extended program with Eddy and Benoit, who honestly have been fighting him more and been more involved with him than Brock since Vengeance. Come on, a Rock/Eddy/Benoit triple threat? Beautiful. In my eyes, the go-to guys right now are Eddy and Benoit, even if they might not seem as over as, say, RVD or Edge. Those two are getting more over by the day...and I like them heaps. Booyah.
