Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Why don't Velocity and Heat have their own aprons? The ropes should be green and orange for the respective shows, and SmackDown should go back to blue. Just a thought. And the Raw and SmackDown sets and logos must go NOW. Who's got the parallelogram fetish?
Guest kane3212321 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I always thought having nice professional looking sets, colour schemes, production values etc. added so much to the look of the product making me feel more positive towards it.
Guest mickberna Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I don't think Heat and Velocity need their own ropes, since nobody really watches them, and it's a lot of work to set up ring ropes. I'm okay with the black ropes for Smackdown, too. However, I must agree on the parallelogram thing. It looks really stupid and throws all their graphics off center. I like the Raw set from late 1999 the best. Simple is the way to go! Too many rapidly moving graphics and sound effects just detracts from the show.
Guest Fort Detrick Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 And they need to change the opening music.
Guest The Tino Standard Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I was wondering why they changed the Smackdown ropes to black instead of blue. I thought the blue worked a lot better. Red ropes for Raw. Blue ropes for Smackdown. Black neutral ropes for PPVs. It made sense. Also, a nice little touch they could add would be to keep the white "WW" logo with the red scratch mark for Raw. Then, you could have a white "WW" with a BLUE scratch mark for Smackdown. I think it would just be a nice little extra distinction between the two 'brands.'
Guest the pinjockey Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I know it has been said before but they really need to ditch the whole blue scheme on SD entirely. Blue is just a calming downer kind of color which is not what they should be shooting for. No matter how bad I know Raw is going to suck when you see the arena with the bright colors and the set that kind of jumps out at you it gets me a little more excited than a SD I know might be decent. The SD set needs to go as well. Even if you don't like the Raw set it certainly jumps out at you more than the SD set. First thing is that the SD set's titantrons are too small. Most of the time during intros you don't even see the videos, that is inexcusable. Also unless you look at the set hard you won't even notice the fist through glass motif as the wrestlers enter. As they walk to the ring all that you really notice is the cave thing and a lot of plastic pieces. As the Raw wrestlers enter they have a video right behind them on the little video screen at the entrance as well as the big titantron.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I don't really think HeAT and Velocity need their own ropes, or even their own aprons, since it would require unneeded additional setup time. Also, I agree with pinjockey, blue, no matter what the shade, is generally a more placid color. I don't mind the "cave setting" with the first through the glass, but it is hard sometimes to see the TitanTron videos.

Agreed, there's something about the color red that makes the show seem more exciting than Smackdown's blue.
Guest webmasterofwrestlegame Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 They discussed the blue ropes vs. black ropes argument one time on WCW Live and said that psychologists have it as fact that humans view blue as more of a passive colour, hence not leaning towards violence which is not a good thing when you have wrestling matches going on. I prefer the black ropes personally.
Guest Nevermortal Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 SPOILER.... They changed Smackdown's color to gray, apparently.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 LOL @ Spoiler warning I don't think that actually qualifies as "Spoiler Material", but I guess you never know w/ some people around here.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I still think it wouldn't be too hard to get some Velocity and Heat aprons. That's not too hard. And for a while, Heat was using black ropes while SmackDown used blue at the same show.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I agree with the whole Blue thing, but anything that makes ERIC BISCHOFF'S RAW better than Smackdown has to be good
Guest AssDroid! Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I remember when Heat first started it had it's own aprons and that worked well. I've been thinking about the rope colors and I gotta say it would be nicer if each show had it's own separate colors. That goes for PPVs too. WrestleMania should use the black-gold-black color scheme that they used at WMs IX and X. Royal Rumble should have bright yellow ropes since yellow was the primary color in the logo this year, and so on.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I remember back when Heat actually meant something, and contributed to the overall storyline. <- Jeez. What a 1000th post.
Guest Vitamin X Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 When Smarks can't find anything else to complain about... ...COLOR SCHEMES~!!

HOT NEWZ~!: I LUV HHH! NOBODIE WORKZ HARDER THAN HIM! [/mark]
Guest art_vandelay Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 The reason why they might not want Velocity/Heat aprons is because sometimes the aprons get lifted up and back when Heat/Shotgun had their own aprons, you can see it. I don't think they're completely comfortable revealing that their weekend shows are taped yet. I don't think they should either. I also agree with the comments about the colour blue. Even Velocity's green is a better suited colour for wrestling, IMO. I didn't think SD's aprons needed changing, but if the grey aprons look like KOR's, I'd be happy.
Chunk Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 i personally dislike the fist through glasss thing on SD! am i the only one who prefered the old style oval-tron? ChUnK!
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 FLAIHR IZ OLLDDD AND HOGAN IZ KOOL! Awww... A Hogan slam, and he's putting people over, too. But think about it: Neither Hogan nor Flair will job to Jericho.
Guest The Hollywood Fashion Plate Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 So if blue doesn't look good as the SD! color, what should they change it to? Orange? Purple? Gray?
Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 The reason why they might not want Velocity/Heat aprons is because sometimes the aprons get lifted up and back when Heat/Shotgun had their own aprons, you can see it. I don't think they're completely comfortable revealing that their weekend shows are taped yet. I don't think they should either. WHAT???? WEEKEND SHOWS ARE TAPED??? BULLSHIT DUDE! And here I thought all this time that they set up the entire stage and brought all the fans back for a half hour of content. Thanks a lot Vandelay, you fucking fucker, you totally ruined the Velocity experience for me. EDIT: Also factor in that when The Bottom Line was Jakked, they were showing original matches on syndicated programming. The fact that a guy in Chicago is watching at 7 and a guy in Milwaukee is at midnight exposes that the B-shows are taped more than anything.

I mean, they won't even admit Smackdown! is taped (not on air anyway), so I doubt they'd do anything purposefully that'd show their weekend shows are.
Guest The Czech Republic Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Anybody with a brain knows SmackDown is taped when they hear that cheap heat like for Edge going "I'm Smackdown through and through!" and it goes yaaAAAAAAAAYYYYYYyyyy Like they just turned a dial up and back down
