I miss Austin

I definitely miss the Steve Austin that tore through the WWF in '96-'98...and so does the WWF, as most of the fanbase (as well as many of my friends) waited only about a week after Austin left before turning the channels.

But I'll be frank - I thought Austin and Angle fighting for attention from Vince McMahon was quite stupid, priceless cowboy hat schtick or not.

Austin/Angle/Benoit/Jericho could face Rock/RVD/Booker/Edge(Ugh) with guys like Taker and HHH (I know) thrown in between.

As long as Edge is eliminated quick, that would be one hell of a survivor series match.

Or, hell, even better, War Games.

Yeah but this will never happen thats the thing. Even if they do make a super stable you know Vince will not let people like RVD and Booker feud with his top heels. You always have to have UT and HHH somewhere and I don't think they would just be roleplayers in a feud like that.

By the way, could anyone else see Edge in a Survivor Series match against these guys? They could work over his leg all match and he would come back and pin them all with superkicks and spear them after the match.

I was just watching the January 3rd edition of Smackdown from earlier this year (I plan on watching all the RAWs and Smackdowns of 2002 and seeing what I truly think of 2002 so far). Anyways, when I saw Austin, that's when I wished he would return sooner than later. I'm hoping sometime in 2003 Austin makes a full return to the WWE, and wins the WWE Undisputed Title one last time.

I'll admit it, I miss Austin too.

IMO Austin was an AMAZING talent.

I can't judge the guy for going home.

I don't know him on a personal level and I don't know the full story behind him leaving.

Some of the stuff I've heard since he left makes me wonder what the hell is really going on with him though.

I do know this, wrestling just isn't the same without Steve Austin.

Eh. Austin was good when he was on, but the heel turn/face turn..and the fact he beat EVERYBODY he was up against (including the entire alliance) pissed me off.

No more Superman characters, please.

Exactly. Enough said right there.

When people say they miss Austin because he was a great wrestler/in-ring performer, that's fine. I have no problem with that.

But I can't help but think about the countless Raws that ended with him on the turnbuckle, drinking beer, or looking pissed..or whatever. It was so boring. And what made it worse was they put his drunk redneck persona way over the top, with the stupid singing and such. I can't tell you how much I hated that crap. Austin in 1996-97 was great...a great character. But when he came back in '01 (or whenever it was) he was very stale.

If he comes back, I would like to see him as a heel character like he was in '96. He was still badass, but he wasn't "superman".
