Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Okay, after TRL was over(Kylie at #10? IT'S FIXED!!!), they had that Becoming show on. Lo and behold, my goddess was the person that people were becoming. Now that I have the basic facts out of the way, time to bitch: They continued to use the beat loop from "In Your Eyes" and even showed parts of the video during the opening segment. MTV nor VH1 ever played this video or acknowledged its existence as a single. This wouldn't be as maddening if it wasn't ALSO a #1 worldwide, and released before "Love at First Sight." Which brings me to the "Love at First Sight" video. THAT IS NOT THE REAL VERSION OF THE SONG, DAMMIT!!! I can't watch that video since the version of the song they play is so bad compared to the real version. Solution? Mute the TV and play the CD track. Anyways, I still say it's sad that the one year anniversary of "Can't Get You Out of my Head" in Australia on September 17th(my screensaver says so), and only now is Kylie hitting her stride in the US. It was #1 IMMEDIATELY too!! (seethes at slow-assed US audience) I shudder to think at how long it'll take Sophie Ellis Bextor to get here. So these Becoming people go to get made up and stuff. None of them look anything like her, all lacking the lips, high cheekbones, and general elegance. Oh, they're still fine girls, but they don't look like Kylie. Even after they're made up and put in outfits from the videos(one from "In Your Eyes" is worn, but they don't say what video it's from like the other outfits), and they still don't look like her. Throw in there the fact that they have to sing, and you have yourself a very disappointing episode of Becoming. At least the other episodes have the people actually looking like who they're trying to be. I remember the Britney one was particularly good. Does anyone else watch this, or the other MTV stuff? (I happen to be a big Taildaters and Dismissed viewer as well) Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Your Kylie-mania has reached alarming levels, Kotz. What's the deal?
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Sorry, it just made me really mad. To IGNORE a #1 is awful!! I really created this thread to discuss the sorry state of MTV original programming, but I went off on a tangent... Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest SuperTonyJaymz Report post Posted September 3, 2002 I like tailfaters and simissed, but they always seem to play like 5 in a row. The problem with MTv is they've become too successful, so they cant just go out there and throw a block of music. They have early morning videos, 30 minutes worth i think around 6 or 6:30, Direct Effect, and All Things Rock(btw why is ATR on at like midnight while DFX and TRL on during the day? and why is that all their shows can be shortend to 3 letters? and while on that subject, how is it Carson Daily's show when i hardly ever see him actually hosting it? and how much money can you possibly pay someone to just read of cue cards? And why the hell dont they ever get guests on ATR? and why cant they show the entire video instead of 15 secounds on TRL? and why the hell did i just ask so many questions) okay i got lost now
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Just take a breath, collect yourself, and demand the head of the MTV programming's dead body be resting on your doorstep in the morning. I can see the point of showing the previous week's Real World or Tough Enough, but not EVERY SINGLE EPISODE!!! Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
The Dames 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2002 I thought the girl who won it had all of her mannerisms down, but she couldn't sing for shit. The really hot one.....damn, I hope she makes it in the entertainment industry cuz I'd LOVE to see her again.... Samantha Hart....*drools* Dames
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Yeah, the others can sing like who they're trying to be normally. As I said, the Britney one was the best, I actually thought it was her when I was flipping through the channels. Kylie just has one of those voices...(sigh) Hot AND an accent, does it get any better? Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Once MTV stopped airing "120 Minutes", I stopped watching. My sister watches that stuff all the time though - even the worst of the worst, "Undressed". I've never seen a full episode, but from the bits and pieces I've seen, it seems just like a porno, only without the nudity. What's the point of that?! Guest treble charged Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Nobody hates 'Becoming' more than I do. The show, to me, serves absolutely no purpose, and is nothing more than a giant waste of money. And on that note, does anyone find it hard to believe that there is a group of 4 or 5 guys out there who dream of dressing up like O-Town and performing one of their videos? What's even more astounding is that they have to go through a try-out process, first.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 4, 2002 If I had some singing talent and some doped-up friends, I'd be all boutit-boutit to be a boy band. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest treble charged Report post Posted September 4, 2002 Yes, but to actually BE the band is completely different then simply acting out one of their videos.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 4, 2002 If their video had lots of booze and sex, sure! However, if it's just dancing around like a bunch of synchronized swimmers out of water in front of some diner or something, fuck it. Why are they always dancing near eateries in pop videos, anyway? None of their fans eat that much... Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Nobody hates 'Becoming' more than I do. The show, to me, serves absolutely no purpose, and is nothing more than a giant waste of money. True that... I guess Kotz is right about the videos having booze and sex, but with the exception of hair bands, what videos have those? I guess mainstream rap videos do, but I'd rather have the booze and sex AND my natural teeth...
Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 THe shows host drives me nuts. I cant stand her. What do the winners get anyway.. to perform live on tv.... waste of money MTV. Waste of time.

Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Bo, I already knew Australia had the hottest females on the planet. I have yet to see an unattractive one, around my age at least. I had a girlfriend who lived in Perth who was hot, and so were all of her friends. It's scary. What's in the water down there?
