"What in the hell were they thinking"

Scott Keith's Biggest Fan, get rid of one of those two pics at the bottom because you're screwing up the tables.

The first LOTR movie shouldn't have been made. It was the worst shit I've ever seen. If you don't believe me, watch it yourself.

Actually, I'm watching it right now and I still like it. What's so bad about the movie?

Most of the movies on MST don't really belong in the "what the hell were they thinking" genre. Most of the MST movies were just very cheap and very bad movies with bad actors and writing.

Overdrawn at the Memory Bank is one of the "wthwtt" movies seen on MST.

Yeah you're probalby right. Like Mitchel.

Then again, there are movies that deserve to be on the wthwtt list on MST3K.

Manos: The Hands Of Fate

Devil Fish

Merlin's Shop Of Mystical Wonders

Phantom Planet

Major League III was terrible. I was at the video store on day and wanted to pick up the first one, but due to a quick glance and similar spines I took III... oh my was it bad~!!!

All the Beethoven movies were really bad as well....

You can add Home Alone III to that list when it comes out as well

You mean Home Alone 4.

Whoever knocked Grease 2, I find that entertaining. Maybe it's because I hate the original and don't want to conform to those who consider it a classic, or I just love the sheer campiness of it (how can you not love the Reproduction song?).

Manos:Hands of Fate has to fall in this category only because they

a)were not properly prepared to film a movie, so

b)it made a bad idea that much more worse

I read a whole synopsis on Manos on one of the bad movie sites a while back. The guy who played Torgo wound up committing suicide shortly after, because the movie didn't lead to a "big break".

Funny how a movie that was supposed to be "terrifying" wound up being one of the most hilarious, unintentional comedies of all time.

Are you talking about one of the movies from the 70s or 80s?

I know there's an old cartoon movie, but i think there's also a old live action movie.

Regarding Ralph Bakshi's LOTR animated movie, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It just seems very odd. The combination of live action and animation isn't something I'm used to. At least not the way it was used here. And the 'Balrog's' appearance is almost comical. Especially considering what Peter Jackson did with the creature in the recent film.

If there is another (aside from Jackson's) I haven't seen it.

I'd also like to add: Hobgoblins. MST3k marks know what I'm talking about.

Halloween 3 is the DUMBEST. SEQUEL. EVER!

Aliens create masks that control kids when they watch their commercials? That is just plain stupid.

Thank GOD, they only did that once.

Now now...the movie itself isn't the "what the hell were they thinking" aspect of Halloween 3.

The wthwtt aspect to Halloween 3 is them calling the movie Halloween 3 when it had nothing to do with the first two movies. The movie itself wasn't that bad, it just needed a different name.

I remmember reading somewhere that the producers were trying to turn Halloween into some sort of Horror Anthology franchise, the idea being that each subsequent film would feature a horror story centered around Halloween.

Course with the failure of the third one we go back to silent killer wearing painted William Shatner mask

Yeah i read something like that too. Honestly i kinda like the idea, but it was a just a very bad idea to call it Halloween 3 which makes it sound like an actual sequel to the two movies before it.

Calling it Halloween with Season of the Witch as the sub title may have worked.

I don't know if anyone has said this one, but I'd have to say The Adventures of Baron Munchausen had to have been the worst movie I've ever seen. I had no clue what was going on through the whole damn thing.

What? That is one of the best fantasy adventure films ever made. You can't say a movie is "the worst you have ever seen" because you couldn't keep up with the story.

I think watching The Fast and the Furious 7 times in a week has warped your perspective.

Okay, KYLIE~! was in Street Fighter, thus eliminating it from the running.

Freddy Got Fingered was horrible. I watched it all the way through simply because I never watch a movie for the first time without finishing it. There were seriously parts that made me want to turn it off, not because they were gross or anything, but they were just SO FUCKING OVERBLOWN and the plot was just a way to get from grossout to grossout. No reasons given why Freddy is how he is, no reasons why his parents didn't kill him, nothing.

Total Recall ranks up there with the ones I don't understand the reasoning behind. I'm sure after I watch it ten times or so I'll understand it, but even after three viewings I'm still baffled. It's like a storyline full of SWERVES~!.

The Skulls II

What didn't you understand about Total Recall? Either the whole thing was part of the spy hallucination, or it all really happened--it's left up to you to decide.

EDIT: For that matter, add Total Recall II (or whatever the direct-to-video/direct-to-cable sequel was called) to the list

Actually, Freddy was the brother, not Green himself. Tom played Gordon. And yes, I did watch it all the way through and hate myself for it. The scene with the damn elephant getting jacked off by Green still gives me nightmares...

Um...no that's not even close to being true. Halloween was made in 1978 and there has been plenty of good horror movies since that time.

Yeah like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Friday The 13th, Nightmare On Elm Street. There have been lots of great horror movie franchises made since Halloween!

Now why did you have to go and mention "I Know What You Did Last Summer"? That is not an example of good horror movies since '78.

The original Scream was good and all but i don't consider it a horror movie. Also the shitty movies that Scream gave birth to should be held against Scream.

I would like to agree with the nominations of Battlefield: Earth and Major League: back to the Minors. To Battlefield Earth's credit, I still kind of find the reactions my friends had after they first saw it. They were all excited when they first heard about the movie and really wanted to see it, yet after seeing it, they were "That movie sucked." "Don't they screen this things." "Worst movie ever." It was too funny.

As for Major League: Back to the Minors. What the hell were they thinking? The movie lost me from the beginning. I mean, if your major league team sucks so bad and your Triple A team is doing so good why not try to get rid of your major leaguers and use your minor leaguers? Also, why do you have Pedro Cerrano and that Japanese guy playing on your minor league team? You have two guys who once led the Indians to the Worls Series, so you keep them in the minors? I can see keeping Rube Baker there, but keeping the other two there just came off as downright idiotic.

The thing that most ticked me off about the movie though was the fact that they never mentioned the Indians in the movie. It would have been nice if they mentioned them in passing, like mentioning whether they won the World Series at the end of the previous film. Perhaps having them hammer the Twins and mention that they are a first place powerhouse or something. It would have been nice for them to mention it to complete the story or what have you, instead of making a pointless stinkfest of a third movie.

Rocky 4 and 5. I still can't get over how Apollo Creed was killed off. He was easily the best non-Rocky character.

Has anybody said Juwanna Man yet?

I mean I've seen people say stuff like Super Mario Brothers and Skulls II. But movies like that have reasons to be made. Skulls made a little bit of money at the box office. So why NOT make a direct to video sequel? It's made cheap so it's gonna make money. That's why you make it. Super Mario Brothers. That's a popular video game so it's got a built in audience. It should do something. I don't wonder WHY those movies got made. They were made to make money and for no other reason. Nobody cares if they're good or not, they're just out for a buck.

But something like Juwanna Man. Come on. I can't think of a single reason for this movie to exist. It had no stars at all. It had nothing attached to it to give it a core audience. I mean, it had the WNBA, but that just proves my point. When they read this script, who said...."let's make that. It's a hit waiting to happen!" It has no redeeming quality about it at all.

See now Lethargic "gets it". This isn't about bad movies it's about making a movie that's a terrible idea and has no business being made.

I was pumped for the Super Mario Bros. movie but was very disappointed with it.

The movie didn't follow the game that much if at all. Luigi looks very different. The princess name is Stacy not Peach. They don't wear their game costumes until the end and even then they Luigi wears a backwards cap. They have a bunch of stuff not even mentioned in the game like King Koopa's wife/manager/whatever. The dinosaur guards. Those two retarded guys that capture the princess. The fat black girl. The Brooklyn girls. Where are the mushroom creatures? Where are the green pipes? The movie took place in an alternative Manhattan. The whole dimension thing was ridicolous.

In short, the movie went against the basic plot of the game and that's why it sucked.

Some people, namely me, just aren't into the horror genre.

If you aren't into the genre then you'd really have no clue if there has been any good ones or not so your comment has no merit.
