So, that means there are NO good NFL play by play men on TV.

Joe Buck is awful.

It's not any fun listening to someone kiss ass the entire game.

Speaking of Joe Buck. When the baseball playoffs start who will be Fox's #1 Football announcer.

Patrick should have just shown up in a Houston Texans hat and t shirt because I've never heard a play by play guy openly root for a team like that. I'm not a fan of either team, and I can tell you Patrick was creaming himself over David Carr.

I like Joe Buck.

Troy Aikman is my favourite commentator

Fox's new A-team is ok -- I personally liked the Aikman/Stockton/Johnson trio of last year. Troy and Moose really played off each other well...

I LOVED Aikman/Stockton/Moose.

They were the best

Speaking of announcers, why did Pat Summerall pull a Terry Funk?

Well Fox is afraid to fire Summerall because he'd file an age discrimination suite.

The only thing I have to say about Mike Patrick is this:

When the Texans scored that first touchdown, I said to my girlfriend, "Watch him say 'Are you kidding me?'" And lo and behold, what did Patrick say?

On a related note, I heard today that Joe Theismann's real last name isn't Theismann, and that he changed it in college because he wanted to win the Heisman trophy. Anyone know the story behind that?

Thiesmann didn't really change his last name, but instead changed the pronounication...

Theismann used to pronounce his name THEEZmann, but in the late 70's(?) several of his college teammates started calling him THIGHSmann (which obviously rhymes with Heisman) for his Heisman run.

I thought last year's Superbowl was to be Summerall's last game.

I'm not a big Al Michaels fan. He's ok. I'm even less of a Michaels & Madden together fan. After a few games, I think I prefer Michaels/Fouts/Miller to Michaels & Madden.
