The first time I heard the following song after the events that took place a year ago, I shed tears for the first time in years (not including 9/11).

Awhhhh....you all remind me of little kids joyously singing the praises of Mother America in 3rd grade, or kids singing Bible songs in Sunday school. Rather quaint, and I guess a old hippee like me can get the guitar out and sing "Kumbaya"......

 

In all seriousness, to live in a world where the events of one year ago occurred is to live in a world that is far from united, far from peaceful, far from stable, FAR from demcratic, and far far far way too far from free as it should be. We may disagree on the path, but we all want the same end result. Know that is the only faith you need, in each other. God bless all those affected by 9/11/01, and let's hope that 9/11/02 heals and calms this nation in the same way that last year shocked and angered us

I would like to say a special prayer for Charles Garabini.

 

He was a fireman who lived in my hometown of Pleasantville, NY and perished last year.

 

My thoughts go out to his family and all other families affected by 9.11

I live in NYC...The Bronx to be more exact...earlier that week I was shot in the back in my college which is located in Manhatten NY...I thought that me getting shot was the worst thing that ever happen to me...I stand corrected.

 

Tuesday Morning...I heard a thunderous noise...I was unable to move but my wife was with me so she looked out the window...at first she couldnt see anything...the funny thing we were the nearest hospital to the WTC. I asked her what was that noise and she said that she didnt know until there was a loud noise of an explosion. She screamed, my heart jumped, but I still didnt know what was going on.

 

The news are running wild...Tower one got struck by an 'out of control' plane...that was the news...I prayed as my wife cried. 'around 20 minutes later' another explosion...My wife thought the worst and I thought my truth...the second tower got struck...and people labled it 'Terror attacks.'

 

The hospital is getting filled with patients now...hurt victims by the 'Terror' attacks...I gave my bed up because these people needed it more, besides, they took the bullet out and I was able to walk...it hurt like hell, but I was still able to walk.

 

'Building 2 goes down.'...I was by the 59th bridge at that moment, the only bridge that was open...My wife grabbed her chest in shock and terror as my first thought about this 'attacks' is...it was about 'MONEY'.

 

One of my good friends got killed...he was in the 108th floor in building number 1...another of my associate from Junior High use to work as a maintance (Can't spell) in building number 1...he was trapped in the underground 2 floor...and there was no way he could get out...he died as the building crumble.

 

I lost one of my best friend...he didnt die, but he went through that tragedy because he worked in the tower number 2...the thing that got me upset is that they told the building that it was ok to stay...to remain where you at, and that's when the second plane hit...he was on the 77th floor. He witnessed his co-workers that turned into friends, die...not my physical injury, but by heart attack, cardiac arrest, asthma ect. He made it out 1 minute before the building fell...he got out alive, but he's lost it in his head...he's not the same anymore because depression is killing him alive.

 

Many people suffered through this tragedy, and I have my story, as for other people...some of the people that I know lost friends and families in the building. Now they truly need a true friend to overcome their insanity.

 

Many people hate me, many people say that I'm a anti-american. I still feel, and I will die with this feel that it was AMERICA that this these attacks...physically it was them talibans...but economically it was the united states...many things were missing, and information was currupted...they just want to take over the fuel from those countries over there, and what is the best way then by war...let the people get behind his decision because of the symbol, one of the symbol that symbolize America, and not only America, but New York City...the World Trade Center was attacked...

 

Many people ask me about the pentagon? The US wouldnt attack their own military base or intellegence...right? That's just out right stupid...but what part of the pentagon was 'attack'? And who was the highest ranking officer that got killed in those 'attack'? Seems too perfect? Why is it that the fourth plane didnt hit the white house? Because then things will just get out of hand...attack the own white house? that's why the plane went down.

 

You think that was enough reason to go after them talibans and take over their fuel? Many people think so, but other countries dont...the US are still getting critizied from the 'highway of death' back in Desert Storm...they are getting critizied right now for some of their actions in the war against terror...I'm sorry to say, but the US doing anything to get fuel isnt over...something big is going to happen, and you just wait because it will...another attack.

 

Am I a anti-american? I feel that I am not...I just speak what I feel...but this is coming from a person that went a little bit through it.

You're right...I never posted in the Current Events...but when I saw the thread 9/11, I felt that I wanted to say something...and I said what I felt...

 

You have no idea what I went through in that week...I've lost people that was close to me, not only physically but mentally...

 

I feel that I needed to speak out what I feel before it kills me inside, and I have...but this is for the people that I'VE LOST...my friends...

 

May them rest in peace..

You know what? You're right, and I apologize for speakin upon it on this day...this day of remembering the lost ones...the heroes and the innocent...

 

I'm sorry for anyone that got offended with my story, many people do. I am not anti-american... I'm just pro-humanity...

 

This isnt about America, this is about human beings, human lives being lost with no feelings...

 

R.I.P to all of my friends that lives was prematurely taken away from them...and RIP to the rest of the people that also lost their lives when it just wasnt their time...

This remarkable editorial was broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his remarks as printed in the Congressional Record. Note: this was not in response to the 9/11/01 attack, but it still applies.

 

America: The Good Neighbor.

 

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.

 

Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.

 

When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.

 

When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.

Nobody helped.

 

The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.

 

I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?

 

Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times and safely home again.

 

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.

 

When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.

 

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.

 

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

Bo, nice to see you post here. I was wondering what you'd have to say.

 

As it is, I think I'll just go through my morning in Buffalo on 9/11/01.

 

I woke up at 8:00, as usual, and stumbled around for a while waiting for the coffee to kick in. Around 8:30, I got into the shower. I got out a few minutes before 9, just in time to see footage of the first plane, and to hear Bryant Gumble expressing shock. I thought, "My god... what a horrible accident."

 

Then the second plane hit.

 

I couldn't bring myself to believe that anyone would do something so horrible. Just... in total shock, unable to believe it was anything but an accident, I staggered out the door and grabbed the train to class.

 

My 11 AM statistics class went down as normal. Despite the fact that there were people crowded around every TV in the university, despite the fact that literally half the class didn't show up because they had the good sense to go watch history, my stats professor told us that class would go on, that those absent would be penalized, and that we had to get on with our lives.

 

She then proceeded to sigh, check the CNN website, and declare that, because the server was down, there must be no news. She checked a website from Iceland (her language) and proceeded to recount the news that we'd already heard, which hadn't been updated... she determined that this was because nothing new had happened.

 

When the class let out at 11:30, we were told that all the classes for the day were canceled. Still in a haze, I came home, flipped on CNN, and just sat for a while.

 

What's the defining memory of 9/11 for me, though?

 

The little boy across the street, barely 2 years old, trick-or-treating on Halloween as a fireman. I don't know why that gets me so emotional... but it does.

My thoughts go out to the friends and family of those killed in the attack and the grief they carry which must be especially painful for them to bear today.
