About the last Nitro

Im guessing Vince had control over the show, I mean he was ON it, and he did own the company. Now my question is if certain guys didnt like Vince, why did they work the show? Tony Schavonie springs to mind cause he was badmouthing the WWF all night long, I mean if they guy didnt want to be there, could he have just not showed up, Vince didnt buy the contracts, and they were probably still gonna get paid if they missed 1 show? So why did some of them work if they hated vince.

I'm guessing that people like Schavonie felt that they should be there out of a sense of loyalty and were probably saddend by the fact that this was the last nitro, so they thought "what the hell?" went out there and gave it their all for the last time.

Tony was feeling it that night- I thought he was great that night

Yeah.

Even if they didn't like Vince, it was still a WCW show, and the LAST Nitro, so their loyalty to WCW would have counted for a lot. The way Schavonie was putting over Sting for never having jumped to WWF kind of displayed this.

Despite Vince being the new boss, it was still a WCW show, and the last WCW show.

Even though he totally ripped into Regal?

I agree though...both he & Hudson were ON that night.

I don't blame him for ripping Regal a new one.

To be honest if i was Tony after hearing all the anti-WCW stuff that night I probably would've gone off as well.

But Michael Cole is a much better target. :-)

Im actually surprised Tony gave three fucks and turned up...I've forgotten how many times its been documented how he used to hate the business he was in...

I actually still have that Nitro on tape, it was an awesome show to go out on in my opinion.

Closing on Flair-Sting was a class act too, even if the match was basic, i was still outta my seat for it.

I have it on tape as well-

I loved Flair v. Sting- the grins on their faces just made it so special

I also have it on tape. It's one of the best Nitros that they ever did, which is appropriate.

When it was on live, ...man. I was totally into it. I cried when the show ended. I still get choked up when I watch it.

It still bothers me that VKM wouldn't even let them completely finish; he just cut them off. It was dumb, but expected.

I hate the fact that the final Nitro closed on JR's voice and a promo for WrestleMania. They really should have cut back to Tony & Scott for one final goodbye. They were practically cut off in mid-sentence when they switched over to RAW.

EDIT: damn, beaten to the punch :(

Vince cutting them off was a fuckup. Vince screwed up his cue (remember she had to introduce him twice)

I think Tony finished the sentence but was gonna say more when they cut him off.

I think Lillian introduced him twice because Flair/Sting went longer than expected. It was Vince's heelish way of stalling for time (bullying her into introducing him again).

Huh... What was RAW like that night, anyway? I didn't tape it... Bitter, or something.

The way that last Nitro started out was, indeed, freaky. Who would ever think that VKM would be on Nitro?

It was just a bunch of one minute matches.

Foley came back.

Shane bought WCW.

They played some skits similar to what was played on Nitro. VKM dissing Jarrett, Goldust, Luger, Bagwell, etc...

I think Bob should review the last Nitro for 411.

Ken Anderson did it a long time ago but if I can find my tape and I have free time (I gotta finish Supertape and the three comps) I'll do it.

I got both shows on Tape (I think). I haven't gotten to the point where I can watch it yet though, even though the Flair Sting match was awesome.

RAW and Nitro that night were both just so special.
