Did Brock shoot on Holly?

Recommended Posts

Guest oldschoolwrestling

The Brock Lesnar/Hardcore Holly match that aired on Smackdown last night featured some controversial moments. The match featured a very stiff looking spot where Brock Lesnar dropped Holly on his head on a powerbomb attempt. Many thought that Holly was not selling enough for Brock, and that things got tense in the ring as the match progressed. Many thought that Brock had the right to "snap" on Holly in the match and be more stiff than he was, but word is that Lesnar has a lot of respect for the "senior" members of the locker room.

On a related note, Brock worked the Smackdown taping on Tuesday with the flu.

To me, it looked like Holly was being an ass and not selling for Brock properly.

I think if Brock shot on Holly, Holly would be having his next meal via a straw.

I've never been in a ring before and so do not know who is at fault for these sort of things, but recall that Angle stiffed RVD around this time of year for not jumping or aidingAngle's suplexes (basically acting like dead weight).

To me, it looked like Holly didn't sit up enough in the powerbomb attempt. Short of Brock just putting Holly down (which would have looked bad), there's not much else Brock could have done, IMO.

But the key to good shooting is not injuring the other person, but laying in a good pounding and giving them a clue.

It wasn't Lesnar's fault in my opinion. Hardcore Holly was just not selling the move, so it's more his fault than Lesnar's.

Did Brock shoot on Holly?

I know what the term actually means, but with the entire gay wedding theme from last night, that can really be read the wrong way.

That was so fucking funny/gross at the same time.

well seeing it live i thought for sure that they were doing the powerbomb spot over after Brock dropped him on his head. But they were just moving to something else. I think it looked a little on the stiff side.

I did notice Holly wasn't selling too much, but the drop-on-the-head looked accidental to me.

yea that was my thinkin, thus them going on to do the PB attempt with the drop kick. But hey, whatever.

I knew that it was gonna be bad.. New Guy Brock vs. I hate New Guys Holly.

I think there was some stiff work, also I think Holly ruined the powerbomb and F5.

It was a fun match besides that.

I dunno whether or not Brock shot on him (not in that way, you bunch of FORNICATORS~!), but I agree that Holly wasn't selling half as well as he should've been...shit, as vicious as that powerbomb was, he even managed to under-sell that.

Was he sand-bagging too? I still haven't seen it but it sound like it, and Brock seemed to be whipping him around pretty hard to compensate.

Let's see. I've been waiting for someone to put Holly in his place, AND I've been waiting for someone to give The Underserving Champ a big "Fuck You," so DAMN, I wish i saw that match...

you know arrogance in the ring and pouting because someone is not selling the way they like doesn't mean someone got a Right to Hit moves that might break the person's neck. Anyone remember Saturn and that newbie wrestler where Saturn went stiff on him. After that they gave Saturn a goofee nut gimmick for a few months before his injury.

But since Brock has become the WWE's Sacred Cow since they Pushed him to trash Past Wrestling legends, Flair, Hogan soon The Undertaker, they probably would let him get by with going rough on Holly so they could keep the kid happy. Brock's the WWE goldberg evidently... And they could turn a blind eye to keep their lil Angle alive.

Takes a breath...

Enough of my rant.

Difference between Goldberg and Lesnar...Lesnar respects the company and game.

Of course he respects the Game. He is screwing the head writer.

They should call it a Ganso Bomb when he does it, and he should continue to do it, so it doesn't look like either a screw up or a Shoot move so no one can get confused.

"Shoot" has got to be the most mis-used term in the history of the internet.

Well at least when it comes to wrestling. Still top 10 though.

Except..the Ganso Bomb isn't really a move. It's an "oops".

..at least that's what I've heard. One of the guys that knows more could tell you.

I think the Ganso Bomb started as an "oops" but quickly became a move. It's actually a selectable move in Smackdown 2 for the Playstation. Except they call it Jacknife Powerbomb #1, but it's still a headfirst powerbomb.

I think it's more of a vertical drop than a powerbomb. (See No Mercy..Hangman's DDT)

"..at least that's what I've heard. One of the guys that knows more could tell you. "

The announcer that was calling the infamous Misawa/Kawada match translated roughly like-so in his phrasing of the manuever...

"AHHH!....What the fuck was that?!".

Not exactly something you can coin easily. :)

Ganso-bomb means literally "Original-Bomb", or that's what I read somewhere. I know it's a move Lou Thesz is often credited with innovating, kind of like a prehistoric powerbomb. Masa Chono who trained with Thesz lifted the move in the early 90's and the Misawa/Kawada spot looked like an ultra-dangerous version of it. That's where I'm guessing the association eventually came from. But I could be way off.

EDIT: Oh and the M/K spot was most definitely planned, even with the broken arm. You don't improvise something that nutty.

Koboshi broke his arm like 10 minutes into the match, he went to hit a powerbomb or piledriver, but his arm was broke and he let go and then said fuck it and hit the famous ganso bomb.

And in america they dont do the ganso bomb because, *ahem* IT INVOLVES DROPPING YOU SQUARE ON YOUR HEAD! No american wrestler outside of Necro Butcher would probably willingly take it. The WWF would never allow it to occur on purpose because theyd be paying for life for the guy with the broken neck.

Yet in Japan, no ones got a broken neck from a ganso, but Im sure it didnt help their spine at all. In japan they drop eachother on their heads all the time and appear to be fine, no one in north america has figured out how they do this yet. Its like a guarded Japanese secret or something.

Jack Knife Powerbomb I call the "Half ass" Powerbomb

Nash hauls a guy up and its like he's saying They only Pay me millions of Dollars just to lift you up Safely, theres nothing in my Contract that says I Drive you down safely and just drops the guy when he's in the air.
