2002 Fall season....

Recommended Posts

Guest Choken One

Let's take a looksee at the 2002 fall season and see what looks good for what Network and ask questions of confusion....Let's start with the Monday and work our way to Sunday.

MONDAY

ABC

8:00 Drew Carey Show

830 Whose Line...

900 MNF

-I doubt The time change will enhance either of the two shows ratings or quality but MNF, even at it's worst is still a ratings winner.

CBS

800 Kings of Queens

830 Yes Dear!

900 Raymond

930 Still Standing

1000 CSI:Miami

-Monday is CBS "Thursday" night goldmine. Raymond may very well reach the top once and for all, KOQ and Yes, will still be very solid top 30 comedies and CSI:Miami will be a HUGE hit...Maybe even bigger then it's alter ego. The real concern? Still Standing. It's being touted as the next "Roseanne" and it looks solid and will benifit from it's lead in of Raymond.

FOX

800 Boston Public

900 Girls Club

-B.P will be alright without Ally and might be an even bigger ratings hit if FOX puts more push for the show, but unlikely as Girls Club is the next David E. Kelley presentation...Basically, it's Ally but only with better looking girls. I expect B.P to do well with weak challengers but G.C will get bounced early and go the way of American Embassy.

NBC

800 Fear Factor

900 Third Watch

1000 Crossing Jordan

-It won't be HORRIBLE but I feel the Factor's run is up and 3rd Watch won't have the push it did last year after 9/11....Jordan still however can do well but I expect a massive ratings drop thanks to CBS's 1000 offering.

UPN

800 Parkers

830 One on One

900 Girlfriends

930 Half and Half

Does it really matter? Sitcoms aren't UPN's main area. All are shit shows that would get canceled in short time on other networks, here they last 3 months before another Shit black comedy is created that is even worse.

WB

8 7th Heaven

9 Everwood

-As fucked up as the Camden family are, people love the whacky christians and boost the ratings...Everwood will get a good following from the similar crowd...It has the Northern Exposure /Thirtysomething feel.

Tuesday

ABC

800 8 simple Rules

830 Jim

900 Bonnie

930 Less then Perfect

1000 NYPD Blue

-Jim and Blue will be fine and ABC seems intent on that 8 Rules will be the Big Comedy breakout hit of the year...However, I think Perfect could wind up doing that...Bonnie looks very weak and seems Hunt is back to Canceled City.

CBS

800 JAG

900 Guardian

1000 Judging Amy

-It did just fine last year so don't expect anything dramatic. Sheer Solidness.

FOX

800 70's Show

830 Grounded

900 24

-70's show has gotten weaker and it's on thin ice, Grounded has been decent but nothing special for FOX...However, expect 24 to breakout this year...The show looks 10x as better with the new plotline.

NBC

800 In-Laws

830 Just Shoot Me

900 Fraiser

930 Hidden Hills

1000 Dateline

-In-Laws will quickly go out and Hidden Hills will be safe behind Frasier, but how much longer can JSM survive? It was great in Season One but has suffered badly since then but that might have been by Laziness being in a comfy ratings spot, now they might revive themself being in a tighter place against Grounded and Jim.

UPN

800 Buffy

900 Haunted

-Buffy will always be a good ratings help but Haunted is a questionable...Matthew Fox? Can he carry a show by himself?

WB

800 Gilmore Girls

900 Smallville

-Gilmore Girls will benifit from a new timeslot, althought I should be after Seventh Heaven. Smallville is growing a nice cult following ala Buffy.

Wednesday

ABC

800 My Wife and Kids

830 George Lopez

900 Bachleor 2

1000 Mds

-Will Bernie Hurt Damon? Not likely, White guys will perfer Damon anyways. Lopez is leaving soon...Bach 2 won't be the "Big show" it was last year and Mds could very well be a successfull show but against Law and Order and Similar Presido Meds...Its being called Mash 2002 but that can't be...It's on NBC on Thursday at 830.

CBS

800 60 II

900 Amazing Race 3

1000 Predsio Med

-Well, this an exicting lineup eh? 60 II will not hurt them and Amazing Race will get killed by West Wing and Like I said above will anyone tell the difference between Presidio and Mds? It might wind like Chicago Hope/E.R a few years back.

Fox

800 Bernie Mac

830 Cedric

900 Fastlane

-Here is where FOX is stupid. What they should have done was this...Take 70's Show and Grounded and insert them with Bernie and Cedric...Take Fastland on Tuesday at 800 with 24. Anyways, Fastlane will still be a hit. Cedric will be a bomb...Yes, you heard me right. They made the show a Variety Show...Nope. People don't want that anymore.

NBC

800 Ed

900 West Wing

1000 L&O

-Great Lineup...Nothing else to say.

UPN

800 Enterprise

900 Twilight Zone

-Enterprise is UPN's current bedrock and Twilight ought to serve a little better then Rosewell.

WB

800 Dawson Creek

900 Birds of Prey

-Creek will stay afloat but this Prey show may confuse people but WB is banking on the Comic madness to get ratings...But I never heard of this before.

Thursday

ABC

800 Dinotopia

900 Push Nevada

1000 Prime time

-Wow. Dinotopia looks like shit. ABC is supposed to be high on Push, but it shitcans them on Thursday at 900, which is the Death Sentence.

CBS

800 Survivor

900 CSI

1000 Without a Trace

-CBS has passed NBC as Thursday king for the moment and all it needs is something to slay ER...I think WAT is it. Not immediate but it can build up like CSI.

FOX

800 30 seconds of Fame

900 Septuplets (Winter)

-O.K This is a stinker of a night. Expect Simpsons and Malcom reruns by December.

NBC

800 Friends

830 Scrubs

900 W&G

930 Good Morning Miami

1000 E.R

-4 Out of 5 is pretty good. Miami is of course the weak link as ALL 930 Thursday shows have been. They are at least nice about it and put the most bereable shit on that spot.

UPN

800 Smackdown!

-Eh. What's this wrestling thing?

WB

800 Family Affair

830 Do Over

900 JKX

930 Off Centre

-MAYBE THE WORST Line up of all.

Friday

ABC

800 AFV

900 That Was Then...

1000 20/20

-ok how has AFV lasted this long? TWT looks Ok. Why not have Friday Night Basketball?

CBS

800 48 Hours

900 Hack

1000 RHD

-They look like the usual good Friday guilty pleasure dramas...Don't forget that CSI started there.

FOX

800 Firefly

900 John Doe

-Fox continues to spawn the next Xfiles. Keep Trying.

NBC

800 Providence

900 Datline

1000 L&O SVU

-SVU is good but Provo is bad.

WB

800 What I LIKE about you

830 Sabrina

900 Reba

930 Greetings from Tucson

-They brought back Kelly Taylor to play Mother figure to younger sister...Both are cute. How is Sabirina a Teen? She's out of College! Seriously, you can change it to Sabrina the Witch. REBA was a guilty pleasure last year. Tucson has a nice premise to it but...still it has Bobby Chavez as the star.

Saturday

ABC

Movie

CBS

800 Touched by Angel

900 District

1000 Agency

-CBS is at least trying here. Angel draws in that Old Christian crowd...District is along there with a great star in Nelson. and Agency gets the shaft by getting the worst time slot on tv next to Thursday-900.

FOX

800 Cops

900 Most Wanted.

-Nice to see some things never change. Is there a Law that prohibits FOX from canceling these shows? Has any Network had a consistant lineup like this? It's been at least 8 years.

NBC

Movie

Sunday

ABC

7/8 -Disney

900 Alias

1000 Pratice...

-Here's a major screwup...Push should be on at 800 here not Disney. If they really want...they can have AFV ON 700 for the family

CBS

700 60 Minutes

800 Bram Alice

830 Becker

900 Movie

-What I would do is Start 60 minutes at 730 with a 700 postgame...Drop Bram and put Becker at 830 and then the movie.

Fox

700 Futurerama

730 Oliver Beene

800 Simpsons

830 King of Hill

900 Malcom

930 Grubbs

-Alot of of Uproar about Malcom moving to Nine but it only helps. King has been fine behind Simpsons before so don't worry...'Rama won't get much airplay and There is nothing about Beene...so not much confidence there...Grubbs is a Modern day MWC...Is Randy McQuaid= Ed O Neil?

NBC

700 Dateline

800 American Dreams

900 Law and Order: Criminal Intent

1000 Boomtown

-Yes. Boomtown is the next great Drama. However, and not because Im biased because I know the costume designers, American Dreams will be a hit.

So that's the Fall season...Your thoughts and predictions?

Uh. Gee. As bad as its been lately, RAW is still what I watch on Monday Nights. I guess if you're one of those tape RAW watch something else people, NBC has the shows. Its not like Im gonna watch Girls Club or CBS' blah comedies.

Fast Lane looks really stupid to me. It looks like one of those action shows on UPN that get canned after a few episodes.

Northern Exposure was wickedly funny for the first couple of seasons. I don't see Everwood being anything like that.

I never watched the original CSI, but I thought Caruso was awesome on NYPD. Also, Bob Barron tells me that Khandi Alexander will play a coroner here, so I must check it out. Oh, and Kim Delaney is on it too--I met her once, and she was uber-hot in person.

It sucks that Twilight has the same time slot as BoP. I'm hearing all kinds of weird mixed reviews of BoP, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it so that I can judge for myself, once and for all.

Which of these is the new Whedon show?

Firefly would be the new Whedon show. Hopefully it's as good as Buffy and Angel. (minus the retarded Connor crap)

I'm actually looking forward to alot of the new hour long shows that's on Fox and UPN/WB. While not as many theres also a few odd ball sitcoms that i'm interested in. So the majority of the shows that have my attention will likely be cancelled.

The only new shows that i'm interested in are as follows...

Haunted, Fastlane, Twilight Zone, Birds of Prey, Push Nevada, Do Over, Hack, Firefly, John Doe and Boomtown

Firefly may piss me off because it looks like it could be a Farscape rip off.

Hack seems like a show that could become a surprise hit.

I've always liked the odd ball shows more then shows like West Wing and ER. West Wing and shows like that are good shows and all, but i just don't have much inteest in them.

A lot of the stuff on Sunday's at 9pm are going to be run down by the Soprano's.

Some what. But alot of people don't have HBO...like me :( So it won't but that big a dent in the ratings.

"Cops" is THE ultimate guilty pleasure show for me, I swear I could watch hours and hours of non-stop Cops.

Judging by the previews, I have a lot of faith in Almost Perfect being a success. IMHO, it WILL be the breakout comedy of the season.

But it still won't touch Scrubs... :D

Cops is pretty hit and miss for me. I get bored when they're doing actual police work, like high speed chases, but I love watching people get hit with billy clubs, 'cuffed and thrown in the back of the car. Especially wise ass people. I don't go out of my way to watch it, but it's enjoyable every once in a while. Why do you hate it EPD?

For me:

Sunday: Simpsons, Malcolm, WWE PPV

Monday: Raw

Tuesday: That 70's Show (Laura Prepon is fucking slammin') Grounded for Life

Wednesday: Nothing.

Thursday: Smackdown

Friday: Nothing

Saturday: Velocity/Confidential

Which of these shows has Amanda Bynes in it? I think its one of them there UPN / WB shows, but they're all just about interchangeable.

Oh, and anyone else going to check out the new "Family Affair" TV show?

.....

Anyone?

Oh, like I'm the only Tim Curry mark in here.

I like when the asshole tries to make a run for it, there was one I was watching where this guy that looked to be Jamaican or something started running through a forest and man he got the CRAP beat out of him! I'm not a racist, but he got what was coming to him!

Saturday: Velocity/Confidential

This just reminds me that people need to stop calling it Confidelocity when the two-hour block is clearly known as Velocidential.

Saturday

There are no shows i care about on this day thankfully as i'd hardly ever get to watch it on Saturdays.

Sunday

700

Futurerama every other week when it isn't knocked off for the football game.

730

Probably nothing but i'll give Oliver Beene a shot and if it isn't good maybe the last half of Heat.

800

The Simpsons

830

King Of The Hill

900

Sopranos but will tape Malcolm

930

Sopranos and i will give Grubbs a shot, but unless it's really good i likely won't bother taping it.

1000

Boomtown

Well that's my weekly schedule. Alot of the shows i tape will get dropped from my schedule if they aren't good to me.

What sucks is that i only have two 1000 shows that could be on my schedule. So everyweek i'll only have 3 days with something to watch at 10. I didn't see Angel on any of that so hopefully it will be on at 10 one of the days.

Non-Wrestling shows I plan on checking out or continuing with are The Sopranos, Dawson's Creek, Birds of Prey, Do Over, and That Was Then. Do Over and That Was Then both have interesting, yet similar plotlines (Do Over is about a guy who gets to be 14 again and re-live high school, while That Was Then has a guy go back in time to when he was younger to change events, and he has to keep going back until he gets everything right, otherwise it messes up the future.) I've been watching The Sopranos since the beginning, and won't be stopping, and I've been watching/taping Dawson's for about 2-3 years now. Birds of Prey will get my interest due to my comic fandom, though I will admit I've never seen Smallville.

I'll probably start watching Push Nevada and if it sucks I just not watch anything. Being able to watch Smackdown earlier helps me out a lot..

Don't worry about it...you really aren't missing anything other than a chance to ogle a few hot girls (which, along with the hope that it'll get better, is probably the only reason why I'll be watching it this season).

I live for ER, so I think I'll check this Presido Med show, although it looks like a cheap ER/Chicago Hope copycat. Just look at the picture of the cast at the CBS website. About three of them bear resemblance to a character on ER. Speaking of ER, I can't wait for the Season Premiere, even though it looked a little lame doing parts of the preview.

"SVU is good but Provo is bad."

Having a girlfriend who watches that show every week, I have to say that Provo is one of the biggest pieces of crap I've ever been forced to watch. That said, however, it is a money-maker, or from what at least I read...

NYPD Blue will stay on forever, or until Franz decides to quit and do commercials full-time...

CSI Miami = using two Blue cast-offs to headline -- hahahahahaha. Nice movie career, David, and I hate Kim Delaney (not her personally, just her Dianne character...)
