Chris Benoit Face Turn

Although it isn't WWE's intentions, Chris Benoit will likely become a babyface due to his current program with Kurt Angle. WWE wasn't planning on turning Benoit babyface, but due to crowd reaction, it's seemingly impossible for Benoit to become anything but that with fans almost always making Angle the heel no matter who he is working with. Further proof to this would be de-aligning Eddie Guerrero from Benoit, pairing him up with his nephew Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Fucking WWE is so gay. They should of kept him face when he came back...he got huge heat in his hometown and I'm positive he would of gotten it everywhere else. Hell, right before his injury, he was getting cheered more and more.

But if he turns face, I won't complain because I believe he plays a better face than heel.

I just don't know if the "Marks" will buy into him as a babyface?

The most heat he recieved as a Babyface in the WWE was when he was teamed with Jericho. And his debut.

God damn, you people gotta be kidding. I must be deaf because I swear, whenever I hear Benoit come out to the ring, I don't hear a cheer or a boo. I don't think the WWE has planned as having either of these two guys faces, instead just trying to get with the two heels match.

And of course he got a loud reception in his hometown. It's his HOMETOWN ! Everyone in Canada cheers for any Canadian. Even Test has gotten the occassional cheer in Canada. Maybe it's a country code or something but no matter how unover a Canadian is in America, Canada goes crazy over them.

Benoit....over ? Benoit....babyface ? Benoit....crowd reaction ? Give me a break.

Like I said, Benoit was getting really good face heat right before he was injuried, so it's not just Canada.

I'd love to see Benoit and Angle have a ***** match which turns them both face, then they team up (American & Canadian) and feud with the Un-Americans on Raw (They would move) and they could build an angle out of that.

Both of these guys is a step away of taking on Brock in a future PPV. So they better figure out who is gonna be the face going in. Because Brock is getting heat as the Monster remorseless Heel.

You must be, because I have recent matches on tape with both cheers and boos.

Oh, and you're wrong over the crowd reaction thing; you know it and I know it. Thanks.

FUCK. I HATE face Chris Benoit. Especially because he tends to ge more mic time than heel Benoit, and benoit can't do face mic work, at all.

That's true...but his mic skills as a heel isn't too great as well.

the thing is Benoit was very, very over as a face, particularly in WCW (96/98 onwards).

I prefer face Benoit, than face Angle.

Benoit plays a great face in peril, and I prefer him face to Angle.

Yeah, thats what we need, fucking Can-Am Connection 2k2, with two fucking guys who ought to main event. I'll shoot my tv if Angle turns face, and besides, Benoit just jumped from Raw

Basically I see Benoit fueding with Angle, then Eddy and then turning back heel, as its clear the WWE doesn't know what to do with him.

Angle will probably wrestle Edge again

Oh well, at least Benoit/Angle should be a good match.

Benoit's heel mic work fills it's purpose.

So do I, but that doesn't mean much.

Benoit plays a great face in peril,

There's more to wrestling these days, though. You need to have a solid face character as opposed to just wrestling like a face.

Why not have Eddie and Benoit fued? I'm sorry but that would rule in countless different ways.

If you wrestle only as a "Face in Peril" then you just end up like Spike.

I never said it wouldn't

One problem. Same problem with Angle/Benoit, actually. If Eddie and Benoit feud, SOMEONE has to lose. And they both really need a win.

I think Eddie & Benoit are both beyond talented enough to make each other look like a million bucks, Win, Lose or Draw.

Man, jobbing isn't the end of the world AS. You need to get over that complex. The Rock has lost more than any Main Eventer in WWE history - and he is probably the most popular ever. It ain't no thang.

On the flip side, Big Show and Kane were both somewhat credible main eventers at one point, but unmerciful jobbing has turned them both into jokes.

I don't think it affects Benoit as much, because he is still portrayed as a killer and a threat, and even in most of his losses, he looks like a guy who had thw in in hand for a good deal of the match. . Guerrero and Angle get humiliated every week, are viewed as jokes, and NEVER win. That can't go on much longer.

Angle never seems to lose his Heat with the live crowds though.

If they keep using him to try and put over the likes of John Cena and Bob Holly, it's only a matter of time.

I also feel that feuding Angle and Benoit is nothing more than a way to keep Angle and Benoit out of the main events (They refuse to push them to the top, for whatever reason) without angering the smarks any more.

I disagree. I think a face in peril who 's given credibility and enough wins will work. You forget that Spike also lacks the size and build plus is pretty much portrayed as a bumper. Benoit does more of an Austin face in peril; someone who would bump and brawl with the heel and give up enough offense to make you doubt whether they could pull it out but you pull for them.

I think Guerrero's ,ore threatened than Angle as he didn't have alot of momentum to begin with and now he's feuding with Edge.

Without question. I really feel that Vince is punishing Eddy for what happened last year.

NEVER win? Come on - Angle wins all the time, not as often as before, but he still racks up winning streaks that are comprised of solid wins. Hell, even Eddie won on Smackdown.

You can say that they don't win as often as they should but saying they never win is a bit ridiculous.

Besides, Angle needs something to do if they want to save Lesnar/Angle for a bigger PPV.

I get and see your point, Brian. However, I diss agree with you on Austin.

More times then not, Austin always made himself look too stong as a Babyface so you always expected him to win.

Posted

I don't know. There were alot of times during that initial run, 1998, where I thought Austin was sure to lose. He was booked strong, yes, but he also gave up some of that to be more of a face in peril, who digs and scratches to pull out wins. During single shows, he was made to look storng a lot but on pay per view matches there was always that doubt.

I thought Austin played a great "Heel in Peril" last year.

As babyface, I just never really thought of him being in that "Danger Zone" of losing.

Except for his early major push. Like against guys like Owen, Bret, Shawn, etc.
