I don't like the word "fanboy" being tossed about. It implies that liking somebody somehow makes a person less than if they liked somebody else.

 

Here's something.

 

Not everyone has this "Benoit is God" mindset that's so prevalent in the IWC. Not everyone believes he's this great, flawless saint of wrestling that's fighting the evil forces of HHH and those who "flip flop". The chance of a truly unbiased argument is about 1%. There's never an argument that will be unbiased. Why? Everybody has biases. Try telling me they don't.

 

So some guys don't like Benoit. Woohoo. Can't they have the feeling they believe in without having to defend it 24/7/365?

 

Oh, I've heard it all. "You must not appreciate his work" or "You must not understand how great he is". I'm tired of some guys being put on pedistals, and other ones bitched at because they didn't sell three or four weeks ago.

 

Tell me, if some "fucking moron" was to present an argument..even if it WAS true, do you think people around here would take Benoit off his god-pedistal? No. That's why it's useless to argue about it.

 

If somebody dosen't like Benoit, they don't like Benoit. It may be a foreign thought to some people, but not everybody thinks the same way. Stop treating people like heretics just because they don't like the precious Canadian Workrate.

When did I say Benoit was flawless? All you're doing is classifying people. I'm not even going to bother arguing this point.

OK, this I agree with. I know you like RVD, and so do I, and it gets tiring listening to people bitch about his selling, especially when half of said people are Test or HHH or Hogan fans.

 

That's why it's useless to argue about it.

I can see Benoit turning face, he isn't really any worse as a face than as a heel and Vince knows he needs some decent matches to start popping the buyrates again and Benoit/Angle leading to Benoit/Lesnar and Benoit/Guerrero should do that.

What if Benoit can't carry Lesnar? I think we should assume that lesnar will continue to blow even against Benoit, so we don't get our hopes up for a match Brock could ruin.

Well that would all depend on the booking. If Brock is allowed to use his amateur matwork aswell as power moves and lets Benoit lead him through the match then it could be a good encounter. I realise it would be no classic but if Brock is willing to work his ass off I'd imagine Benoit is capable of getting a good match out of him

You're depending on something that may not be there. Until I see amateur skills, he HAS NONE as far as I'm concerned

Well I've not seen any OVW (Tapes for it are not easy to come by over here in England) but anyone who's been an NCAA champion should know how to work amateur matwork, which if he let Benoit leas and just did what came naturally (without all the agression obv) could lead to a decent mat wrestling festival. If guys like Regal can make total loads look like they are doing matwork then I'm sure Benoit can make a former NCAA champ look like he's busting his ass. Benoit's unselfish enough to make Brock look good

That's all you have? One time from almost two YEARS ago? ONLY one time?

The night after Survivor Series 2000 against Austin and all through his feuds with Rock & HHH there were "Benoit Sucks" chants. If you're gonna say that's only because he was facing top stars, save your breath. How often do you hear fans chanting "____ Sucks" or "Asshole!" at mid-card heels? Angle doesn't count because we've already established that he has a much better heel character than Benoit, and X-Pac didn't count because....he really did suck.

 

If you book Benoit as a midcarder then the fans will treat him like one. Ya' know?

The bottom line is that every time he has been booked for a top feud he's more than risen to the occasion and been hugely over.
