The One and Only RAW thread for 2/25

Did I blink and miss it, or did the WWF forget about the tape that Jericho and Stephanie had?  It probably would have sucked anyway, but it would have been nice to at least show it.

"It could get over, if the writers ever came up with decent storylines to use for the female wrestlers, other than "Jazz squashes <insert female wrestler>". I think the Stephanie/Trish feud from last year was kind of over. All they have to do is shave 2 minutes from Stephanie/nWo 20 minute promo to give the women's division some angle time (this doesn't just apply to the women's division).

I mean really, people like Stephanie and Austin don't really NEED all that promo time to stay over. They should devote some of that time to the midcarders/women to give the fans a reason to care about them.

This is one of my main gripes with the WWF that the roster split will hopefully fix."

I'd rather see them shave off 2 minutes of each interview and give it to the cruiserweights.

They should the tape. It was only Jericho putting the Walls of Jericho last May during the SCSA/HHH vs. Jericho/Benoit tag match.

The tape was the footage of HHH tearing his quad.

Oh, and Hogan's promo was laughably bad.

Oh god, APA are in a gay bar.  This is gonna suck.

Is there anyone more perfect for a gay-bashing angle than the Acoyltes?

Bradshaw should have felt at home.  A few more beers, I bet he'd break out the baby oil.

"I'm a good dancer, I'm a good dancer"  Oh gay stereotypes are so funny.  Jesus Christ, this is about as bad as the WWF has ever got.  This is beyond Chuckabilly or Lenny and Lodi, it's blatant homophobia.  I bet Loss4Words is gonna be pissed off, and rightfully so.

Mr. Perfect vs. Austin is next. The nWo should do a run-in here. Surprised nobody brought up the fact Perfect is an ex-nWo member.

Austin beat Perfect clean with a Stunner. I guess Curt will become a jobber to the stars.

ok, a few thoughts

1. Worst crowd ever. Angle-jericho was solid but you wouldn't know by the crowd. Granted it was two heels

2. Perfect looked perfectly lost in the main. It seems like the match was going in slow-mo. Perfect did not execute one wrestling move. It was all strikes or clotheslines.

3. The nwo run-in was surprising in that they waited until after the match. Otherwise it was by the book

4. The APA angle was pathetic. That is why comedy writers should not be writing for the WWF. It wasn't even funny.

You are 100% correct. And if you are gonna do long drawn out segments, at least make something occur instead of telling us what already happened or to set up a main event for that night. Backstage vignettes can accomplish that.

"This is one of my main gripes with the WWF that the roster split will hopefully fix."

Don't hold your breath but I'm hoping for the same thing, More cruiser time dammit!!!!

I was looking at the time of the matches and each one was like 2-3 minutes long. Christ, why do they even bother sendingthem out there. No wonder the crowd was friggin apathetic!

Austin-Perfect was a nice old school match for the short period of time it went. I think given 20 minutes these guys could put together an MOTYC.

I agree about the main event. Perfect looked lost. Especially when he was on offense. And the crowd was dead.

Austin v. Perfect wasn't near as good as we hoped.  Methinks that Perfect may not be as good as we all thought.

IMO hitting Austin's leg with the cinder block was a good move.

Now Hall can work on the leg and get by on psychology...and not have to worry about keeping up with an Austin brawl.

i agree but not right now. first of all, Mr. Perfect is not over. Disregard tonight's shitty crowd. he simply does not garner a reaction.

The match itself was a trainwreck. I don't think they hit on one clothesline or elbow. The stomps on both Perfect and Austin's part were half ass. It seems like Perfect phoned it in when he should have been going all out. This is what concerns me about the nwo guys. They simply have not had enough time back to put on solid matches, especially twenty minute Wrestlemania level matches. the end result may not be pretty.

I'll give Perfect the benifit of the doubt and hopefully a Kurt Angle will be able to help him improve. Right now, I am not impressed.

That's what happens when you don't ore-plan a match.

Where was all the jumping on HHH matches when he returned?

He looked far more embarrising than Perfect.

I chalk it up to no pre-planning...and move on.

I think Curt knows he won't get much of a push and was only hired to keep him away from upstart promotions.

I was right along with you criticizing Trips.

If this was Perfect's big match, then he should have carried the responsibility of pre-planning the match to get himself over. I have a gut feeling Perfect might not get another push.

That was a push?

Doesn't a push usually involve winning?

The only matches he's won are in house show vs. RVD.

Hell I read that he put over Lesner...or Waterman...or one of them at a house show!

I think he...like many others...are spinning their wheels until the split (if such a creature exists)

ok, maybe a better word would be "chance"

It's pretty sad that everything is just going through the motions until the "split". Usually the time leading up to Mania is the most exciting time of the year and it's just dead leading up to the big show.

There's too many damn people.

How do you think a guy like Raven feels?

He's not even on Jakked.

Austin never even allowed himself to be in a position where Perfect might have been able to do a wrestling move.  I didn't think the match was "old school" I though it was all punch-kick.  A Hennig match with no neck snap, knee lift, oversell of a kick to his leg, or even an attempt at a Perfectplex?  WTF.  Hennig didn't look to be all there, but Austin seemed completely disinterested in being there at all.  He probably really is pissed about having to work with Hall.  He phoned in the match, just like No Way Out.
