Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 So, we have a PPV coming up 1 week from tonight. What matches have even had any kind of build-up? 1) UT/Brock And that's about it. We'll probably get Angle/Benoit, HHH/RVD, and probably a tag title match. But other than that, what can we expect? Nothing else has been put into place. Coming off an awesome Summerslam, Unforgiven seems like an after-thought in the WWE's mind. ::sigh:: I guess we should expect a major "hard sell" this week.
Guest Flyboy Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 I think RVD/HHH has good build up... it's all about the underdog going for the title against the champ... not original, but build nonetheless.
Guest Mad Dog Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 Falling into old traps again. This is the problem with Sports Entertainment....it doesn't sell PPVs. Who's going to shell out $35 for something when a week before they only have 3 matches. What crap. Good thing to know that HLA is taking the place of you know actual angles that go somewhere.
Guest HartFan86 Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 The excellent buildup for PPV includes Brock/Taker, RVD/HHH, and Angle/Benoit. Might I add, there is only 1 week away from the PPV and 3 matches have been announced. Gotta love the WWE.
Guest Chuck Woolery Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 What-EVER, dude. HHH/RVD has actually had VERY good build-up, in my opinion... and I think that Monday will make it better if 1) HHH and RVD don't have any confrontations until the very end of the show, and 2) HHH keeps acting as though he is actually afraid of RVD.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 September PPVs tend to suck ass regardless(although last year's Unforgiven was quite good outside of the tag title match). Honestly though, I really couldn't give a damn about this show at all. HHH/RVD? Fwah... I hate both guys, so screw 'em. Angle/Benoit? Been there, done that, got the tape(not saying it won't be good, but really, it's just pre-WM 17 all over again). Brock/Taker is pretty much the only remotely interesting match(IMO, obviously) and that's just because I want to see how Taker jobs to Lesnar.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 Actually it doesn't look like a Underdog vs Champ buildup for HHH and RVD. It looks more like the Old Guard Champion who doesn't want this Popular Skillful Up n comer to bump him off. He does alot of grand speaking but tries to screw him out of the titleshot which fails and now he stuck with taking on RVD.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 The build for HHH/RVD is fine. HHH seems to be very scared of having to face this guy who he's never beaten. Unfortuantely that's a dead givaway for how the feud ends. Maybe RVD will beat him for the meaningless fake title and then HHH can finally overcome in a match later. Or HHH will just squash him. Either way
Guest Brian Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 Isn't it weird that announcer's and the video package have pushed the fact that the title is meaningless, and was just handed to Triple H?
Guest DJ Jeff Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 I actually think that Unforgiven will be half decent. True, it won't be as good as Wrestlemania 18, which was the best PPV of 2002 so far in my opinion, but still. I'm looking forward to seeing Lesnar© vs. the Undertaker for the WWE Title and HHH© vs. RVD for the World Title. Those two matches alone are the reason I'll hopefully be ordering Unforgiven. Plus, I'm looking forward to another Benoit vs. Angle match, hopefully for the #1 Contender's Spot for the WWE Title at No Mercy. All in all, Unforgiven doesn't look that bad.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 I'm going to a sports bar for this one for the first time, so whether it's a good show or not, I'll probably enjoy myself. Now, what to wear, what to wear... I'll probably start a poll or something for that. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge

Guest wwF1587 Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 i will order unforgiven, in hopes that RVD can pull a good match out of HHH and win the belt. Angle/Beniot will be good no matter what.... UT/Lesner will be interesting to say the least..... yes it is a far cry from the classic that was SummerSlam last month, but i figured it would be. Thats kinda sad that they are still 5 short with one week to go. I really thought SummerSlam was the turnaround but I guess not. I am guessing we will get some kind of tag match between B&C and J&R... cruiserweight stuff hopefully... god i dont know.... and i dont think WWE does either.
Guest creativename Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 Hey DJ Jeff, Props on your sig Gomer just signed an extension for 2 years @ $1.2 per. And of course Elias is THE MAN. I miss Sykie though What did you think about that trade? Tverdovsky and Frieson have potential, but Sykie was a very consistent performer. You basically knew what you were getting out of him. He had one of the best shots in the league too. ...[realizes he's going completely off-topic] errr, and, uh, yeah, I think Unforgiven will be lackluster too. Yeah...
Guest jester Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 I think the build between RVD/HHH is okay. It needs one more show to cement itself I think, but fortunately. They've got one. But big props to WWE: they're making me dread an RVD match. On the one hand, I don't want him to job to MR. MOST IMPORTANT WRESTLER EVER AUSTIN WHO? On the other hand, I am really not thrilled with the idea of RVD winning a belt I think is totally meaningless. I don't care how much Bubba wants it. The Brock/UT build is there, so is Angle/Benoit. As for the rest of the show, I think this week's Raw and Smackdown will be a scramble to get something together. "Hey you! What's your name again? Never mind, we're feuding, and I want a match at Unforgiven!"
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 It would rule if Angle Benoit got a 20 minutes for their match, but you know that wont happen. I think we all know Billy and Chuck vs Jamal and Rosie is gonna happen, even though I really dont think anyone wants to see it.
Guest nikowwf Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 I think the Brock / Taker build up is good, BUT its Brock / Taker so BLAH. RVD / HHH has had good build-up. On the other hand, Angle / Benoit has had negative build-up. And considering they seem to know where they are going with a lot of the other matches, why not announce them? It was cool Summerslam was pretty much set 2 weeks before. This month, its back to announcing 3 matches and force-feeding angles the last week to get everything else in. Niko
Guest Brian Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 What are the other possible matches? Eddie/Edge? Jericho/Flair?
Guest notJames Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 There's a PPV this Sunday?!? I wonder if they'll rename it HLA...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 16, 2002 Report Posted September 16, 2002 As it stands now...I'm not ordering the show...but I'll order the replay if something really good happens: Angle/Benoit have a classic, RVD pins HHH clean. You know...things I, as a fan, would pay money for.
