Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 17, 2002 I'm sure one of you guys has a comp tape of the best examples and matches of Japanese wrestling. Everyone swears by it and because my exposure has been limited to my own xenophobia and only watching examples featuring North American competitors, I figure I should get a tape of it but because I'm a newbie I need a 'sampler'. And because you guys don't have to worry about McMahon slapping you with copyright infringement I'm sure a sale can be worked out. So if anyone's got some ideas, let me hear 'em. Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 Okay, no one's responded, that's surprising. I thought some of you would jump at the chance to get a newbie hooked on Japanese wrestling and make some money to boot. If anyone wants to offer me something ANYTHING (Misawa, Kobashi, Liger, Sasuke, NJPW, AJPW, MPro, NOAH) feel free to email me [email protected]
Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 I'd start out with the 94 or 95 Super J Cup. I have both tapes in VG quality, if you're interested.
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 Thanks, though I'm going for those matches that every puro guy claims are "greatest match ever" and "greatest tag match ever" and "greatest light-heavyweight match ever" what's the first one- Misawa vs Kawada I think happened in 94? Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 The 94 Super J cup is considered one of the greatest shows of all time, and 95 is not far behind.

Chunk 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 any chances of making a PAL version as well (if anyone agrees to make one) I REALLY REALLY REALLY wish this section of the forum wasnt so slow. Does anyone knwo why it is so slow? I mean i just dont get it, everyone (or 99% of people here like wrestling) so you would have thought that there would be a lot of tape trading activity. O well, thats life I spose! ChUnK!

Kawada Vs Misawa 6/3/94 is often called the greatest match ever. "greatest light-heavyweight match ever" is widley considered to be Wild Pegasus (Chris Benoit) Vs The Great Sasuke which is the final of the Super J Cup 1994. Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 Then I've got that one, Benoit vs Sasuke on my Best of Benoit comp
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 19, 2002 After a quick check at Rolling Germans, I don't have Benoit vs Sasuke, so I guess I need to get Super J Cup
Chunk 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2002 does anyone know if it is possible to get the whole of that 94 cup on a single tape (in PAL format) and if so, where from? ChUnK!

Guest wolverine Report post Posted September 20, 2002 E-mail Jeff Lynch: [email protected] He's the best tape dealer out there, and he has everything you could want.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted September 21, 2002 it's not a good idea to jump right into misawa/kobashi 6/3/94. if you're not familiar with about 4 years of backstory, the match isn't anything that special. i always suggest hansen/kobashi and one of the misawa-kobashi/kawada-taue tag matches to dip your toe in the water. more accessible, & stand well on their own as great matches. Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted September 21, 2002 Well what I was looking for, if anyone knows a dealer or trader who has it, is a tape that says "okay you've never really seen Japanese wrestling, here's a tape which should initiate you pretty well
