LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Well damn.........they could have had the Ubervamp last longer than that. What? No previews? When's the next new episode after tonight?
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah, but he isn't the big 'Bad Guy'. I am sure something worse will come. So no new episode next week? Grrr, season 3 will have to do for now.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Great episode for characterizations, low on plot progression. Pretty sweet fight, though it doesn't top the first Buffy/Ubervamp battle.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 It was pretty cool how she killed him though........man that had to hurt. That ranks up there with ways I hope I don't die....decapitated with a strand of barbwire. I thought it had some good plot advancements. It looks like Buffy is definitely going to have to die. Her living and Faith being a renegade has caused a halt in Slayer advancement so all these SiT's are sitting ducks so the First decides to kill them off. That eye thing was creepy. Guest Kingpk Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Was I the only one who wished Xander put his axe through Rona's (the new, black SiT) skull by the end of the show? Looks like FX is going back to normal tomorrow. About time, fuck Cops.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Was I the only one who wished Xander put his axe through Rona's (the new, black SiT) skull by the end of the show? I agree........man they were annoying, but I guess they were supposed to be. I liked the whole telepathic planning Willow, Buffy, and Xander were using. Guest Vyce Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I think this was a good episode. Low on the plot, sure, but good for character development, as voiced by a fellow poster. I actually approved of killing the Ubervamp; I mean, you can't have too many episodes with Buffy & the gang scared shitless of that thing. It had to be dealt with sooner or later, and this way it sort of shows that Buffy can prevail in her war. BTW, who here still believes that Giles is dead? I'm thinking not now. Maybe I'm being too anal about this too, but at one point, Anya's hand did brush up against him, so MAYBE that shows he's corporeal. Or I'm just looking into it too much, but whatever, I'm thinking he's still alive. Crossing my fingers, at least. BTW.....who here caught the fact that Lalaine was a guest star as one of ther Slayers-in-training?!? *crickets* Okay, I guess I'm the only one who watches "Lizzy McGuire" then. Guest Cavi Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Episode gets the <thumbs up> from me. That telepathic stuff was nice. I liked how they did the quick flashback. I agree that the SiTs were annoying, especially Rona. I hope she gets taken out soon. Now onto the Season Three DVD set...
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Awesome sig pic Cavi. When's the next new episode? I hate all this waiting around can't we just have a steady stream of new episodes?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Rona is "Indigo", aka the annoying girl on Boston Public. My 7 year old neice marked out for the Lizzie McGuire girl. Episode was cool, but paled in comparison to tonight's 24. Yeah, seeing as how the show seems to be ending this season, looks like Buffy stays dead this time. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I rather liked the big eye of whatever. "Am I talking to myself here?" You can always count on Joss & co. to create a snarky supernatural being made entirely of eyes. Andrew is great, by the way. I hope he makes it through the whole season, because "Two man enter, one man leave" made my WEEK. I remain in support of Dead Giles, but I'm not sure if he's good or evil. The bit with Eve (the dead SiT) is either great foreshadowing for his eventual reveal, or another red herring. I personally want Giles to be some sort of ghost with a giant flaming holy sword of death or something, but that's just me.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Half way through the season...that was number 11. Is it just me, or does anyone else think this is hinting at the last season? I hope they go into greater detail WHY the First is attacking Buffy, just cause she died and came back funny? I already had a couple spoilers I DIDN'T WANT throw at me...so I'll stay off those topics. 11 more episodes this season...maybe ever...no room for comedy episdoes. And how will Wood work back into things? I don't think Buffy will be spending much time at the school.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I think the First is planning something big and realized that slayers are a threat so it is killing them. The First realized that since the Slayer line is in a weird position, with one Slayer dead and come back twice and not technically part of the counsel and the other went off the deep end and is in jail, that it was a perfect time to strike. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Man, it's going to be a tough haul through the second half of the season. With 11 episodes down, we're halfway through. That means 11 episodes left. I know this is kinda how it works out every year, but ugh. This overarching storyline is so day to day that the BIG gaps between new episodes to account for sweeps are going to blow. 4 episodes for Feburary sweeps. At least 3, maybe 4 for may sweeps. Leaving 3 or 4 eps between March, April, and January. If they do the month-long dead zone or so that they did from March into April last year, I'm gonna flip. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 OK, so the fact that Buffy came back from the dead...again...somehow messed up the Slayer vibe and let the First One attempt a take over. Sure I can accept that, bringing someone back from the dead will most likely affect the natural order of the Universe. As soon as the Eye said that, I think everyone kinda figured out what's going to happen IF this is the last Buffy or SMG season. However, what is with the ESP? Wouldn't that have come in handy previously? Where did it come from? If it's an aftershock from them merging to fight Adam, that's what, 2 seasons of trouble where ESP might have come in handy? Also, I'm kinda up in the air on the Giles is dead thing. At first, I didn't think so, then I thought it was possible. However, they're being so ambiguous about it I don't know what to make of it. Still leaning toward dead though. And yes I was starting to get very "put an axe through her skull please" with the new SiT. She was really getting on my nerves. With all the books and movies about vampires, has she EVER seen a vampire accept someone's surrender and not kill them? Also, Miss Dawn "Buffy said I could kill you" is REALLY riding my last nerve. I don't know what Joss is doing with her, but she's still a huge waste of energy ball at this point to me. Finally, glad to see they finally got Spike loose. Hopefully he and Andrew (I marked for Thunderdome) will be able to be big-time contributors in the last half of the season.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I think the ESP thing is something Willow is able to do as a witch and she honed that skill while with the coven so that she could open a three way conversation with Buffy and Xander. Willow did use the ESP to communicate with Spike in "The Gift"
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah but was there any indication that the rest of the Scoobies knew about it? I thought I'd seen all the episodes, but the first I knew about the group ESP thing was when Buffy starts think talking tonight.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah, Dawn trying to be a hardass came off so poorly. The SIT was bugging me too...but she never had a watcher, no formal training. How's she suppose to act. Still up in the air over Giles...who knows. I say he's alive just cause Joss would write him a better death...plus can the first be in two places at one time while doing the body thing? Who knows. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah but was there any indication that the rest of the Scoobies knew about it? I thought I'd seen all the episodes, but the first I knew about the group ESP thing was when Buffy starts think talking tonight. Wasn't there an episode in Season 6 where someone asked Spike who he was talking to in "The Gift" when he was answering Willow's call? I think he told them it was Willow. Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Not sure. I've got to go check somehow. It's bugging me that this just seemingly came out of nowhere. Nitpicking yes, but bugging me.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I guess we're supposed to assume that Willow told them about that ability.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 No, don't go search. Remember the first episode of season 6--Bargaining, Part One. While Buffy remains dead, Willow stands on top of a crypt or something and sends telepathic messages to everyone--Spike, Anya, Xander, Tara, Giles--while they go out vamp slaying. It's the first scene of the episode. I was surprised by it tonight as well, but remembered that instance.
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yes, this was a really good episode. Did anyone notice that at one point, someone said something and the camera looked at Giles and Andrew, with a face that looked like they knew something. I don't remember what it was said, but I remember that happened. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Dawn is a waste of space, she is very annoying. Not as annoying as last yeaer, but still a pain in the BUTT. Andrew is going to do something important, very important. I can't put my finger on what, but it will be something. The season ending is totally going to be bittersweet. Just like the ending of season 2, it was happy but very sad at the same time. I predict the same thing for this season. And a question for season 3. I am watching the first episode Anne right now, and what the fuck are those people with the weird faces? If it is a spoiler, just PM me with the answer. If not, just post here, thanks fellas. Mole
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 They're...weird face people. Insular to that episode alone, I'm pretty sure.
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 HaHa, thanks Edwin. So one episode funny lookin fuckers?
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah. "Anne" is a great episode. As a matter of fact, the only episode in season three that I don't like so much is "Beauty and the Beast," for its heavy-handed domestic abuse metaphor. I've browsed through some of the special features on the DVDs already; the interviews and featurettes are great. Can't wait to hear some of the commentaries... Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Now THAT was great. Tonight's episode reminded me of the show's Season 2-4 glory period. You remember, when the creators advanced the season's plot lines while also cramming in as much plot and humor as they could in an hour. In Seasons 5&6 - despite some EXCELLENT moments - it seemed like they were just killing time until the last 3 episodes. Hopefully that trend is dead. I have no idea where the show is going to go from here (another first since Season 4) and I'm totally engrossed. Killer ep tonight.
Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah, Dawn trying to be a hardass came off so poorly. That's the point, bud. She's a little girl who knows a few combat moves, but is still just a piker. That's exactly how a girl in her position would be with Andrew.
Guest Max Danger Report post Posted January 8, 2003 BTW, who here still believes that Giles is dead? I'm thinking not now. Maybe I'm being too anal about this too, but at one point, Anya's hand did brush up against him, so MAYBE that shows he's corporeal. Or I'm just looking into it too much, but whatever, I'm thinking he's still alive. Crossing my fingers, at least. I noticed this as well, just as they got back from seeing the giant eye. It looked, sorta, like her hand went through him. Or it was just in the shadows of his jacket(or just his shadows). Dunno. For a second, I think she stopped and wondered, but I may have just imagined that. But good episode. I'm loving Andrew, and I, too, think he'll have something important to do. Why else keep him around?
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I'm just wondering what they're going to do for the rest of the season. It seems like everything is happening all at once. I have a feeling the First is going to regroup for a few episodes since Ubervamp was killed and Spike was rescued. Which means we might get a little calm for the next few shows.
