LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Season 3 is my favorite season by far. I am watching Graduation Day Pt 2 right now on FX, and FX's editing is really pissing me off. I've seen this episode like 5 times in the past 5 months, so I know it like the back of my hand. They cut out the part when Angel is feeding on Buffy and she squeezes the helmet. And when Oz says his humus(sp) line again. Arr, it is just annoying that is all. Okay, I know I have asked this like 3 times, but can some explain to me what exactly 730 means? I know it is the date that Buffy dies, but what is the significance of the numbers 730? Please, thanks fellas. 730 days = 2 Years. 2 Years from the Season 3 finale was the season 5 finale

Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 15, 2003 730 is supposed to shaddow Dawn's arrival time. And my favorite moment is when Buffy dives off the tower ins Season 5. Had me in near tears, and I NEVER cry.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Oh, and I hate FX's editing as well. They cut out some of the most memorable lines from the show when they cut. Almost as annoying as TNT's editing- they put commercial breaks in anywhere they feel like it, instead of the designated spots.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 730 is supposed to shaddow Dawn's arrival time. And my favorite moment is when Buffy dives off the tower ins Season 5. Had me in near tears, and I NEVER cry. I used to think that too, but then I realized the numbers wouldn't match up. Two years would be the end of season 5, which means it's probably about her death. But Dawn was foreshadowed pretty early on with the "Little Miss Muffet" and "Be back before Dawn" references.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Other Dawn foreshadowing: In "Becoming Pt 2," Buffy says "It is the only thing I have left." Than Whistler says "No kid, there is one more thing." Talking about Dawn In "Graduation Day Pt 1", Faith says "Look, you're dressed in big sister clothes." In "Restless", Tara says to Buffy "Just be back before dawn." Actually talking about Dawn, not dawn. Those are the only thing I can think of the foreshawdoing with Dawn, but I am sure there are more. And thanks Parka, I knew it was something like that but I forgot.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I thought Whistlers comment was supposed to be faith in herslef, not Dawn. Plus, I don't think Joss had her in mind wayyyyy back in season 2. And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere or heard somewhere that 730 is forshaddowing of Dawn.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere or heard somewhere that 730 is forshaddowing of Dawn. If so I don't know how. 730 would have to mean something else then. Or it was just supposed to be a general Two Years not literally 730 exact days.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted May 15, 2003 2 years = 730 days. Dawn shows up in the season 5 premiere, roughly 2 years after the Season 3 finale. Yes, Joss did have this all planned out, it seems.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Wouldn't two years from the Season 3 finale be the Season 5 finale and not the premiere?
Guest KingOfOldSchool Report post Posted May 15, 2003 And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere or heard somewhere that 730 is forshaddowing of Dawn. Everyone has their opinion on what 730 means though. And some of that is people reading into it wrong, IMO. Yes, 730 has to do with Dawn, but it has to do with what was supposed to be her purpose, not her arrival. Again, in my opinion. Just to encompass everything.... 365 days x 2 = 730 days 730 was first referenced in Grad Day 2. From Grad Day 2 until The Gift, two years had passed. Together, 730 was foretelling how long it was until the key would be used, and by proxy, it was foretelling Buffy's death. The prophecy of Dawn's arrival, however, was contained in the 'Little Miss Muffet' references, and not, in 730.... "Little Miss Muffet counting down from 730" specifically refers to Dawn's purpose. The second most significant instance of 730, was one year after the Graduation, in Restless. When Buffy is looking at the clock in her room, it reads 730, and Buffy says "it's so late." But Tara counters with something along the lines of, "that clock is slow." Meaning that the clock was off (and obviously, it was somewhat of a cover since a clock can't read 365). And at that time, it was now one year until when 730 was to be fulfilled.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 16, 2003 oddly enough, that makes sense.

And I'm pretty sure I read somewhere or heard somewhere that 730 is forshaddowing of Dawn. Nah, I honestly believe that Joss had it planned out since season 2. I read somewhere that Joss knew what he was going to do with Buffy, everything till the end, since the beginning. And I knew that 730 had something to do with Buffy's death, but I know it has nothing to do with Dawn's arrival. 2 years after "Graduation Day Pt 2" is "The Gift" when Buffy dies, not when Dawn arrives. I am sure Youth or fazzle can clear all of this for us.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 16, 2003 For the love of Pete. 730 was the exact number of days until Buffy died. Period.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 16, 2003 Thank you bps, that is what I thought. Anyway, since this is my 3000th post, I just want to say thanks to everyone in this thread Especially Youth, LaParkaCar, fazzle, Dames, bps, Cavi, Rudo, and cawthon for keeping this thread alive and discussing Buffy throughtout this season, having good ideas/opinions, and answering questions about Buffy when I was new to the show. This is my favorite show and my favorite thread on the board, for I have spent most of my time on this board in this thread.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 16, 2003 You're welcome. I can't wait to see the discussion of the finale next week.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 16, 2003 It sucks because I won't be able to watch it because I will be in Ireland. I shouldn't complain because I will be in Ireland, but I'll miss the final Buffy. Atleast a few of you discuss the episode with me after I watch it, so I can have some people to talk about it with when I get back. A few volunteers, please? Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 16, 2003 "nah kid, there's one more thing" is faith in herself. When Angel is about to kill her he mocks her and asks what she has left and she is like "me." and then owns him.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 16, 2003 2003 NBA Playoffs Round 3, Game 1 Detroit Pistons vs. New Jersey Nets- 1:30pm (Doors Open 11:00am) TV: ABC/TNT | RADIO: WDFN 1130 AM That's assuming they make it to the Eastern finals...looking like maybe UPN won't carry those games. Here's to hoping.

Guest Mole Report post Posted May 16, 2003 For the love of Pete. 730 was the exact number of days until Buffy died. Period. Except, ya know, it wasn't. Season 3 finale aired in July, season 5 was in May, nowhere near close to a full 2 years. Yeah, yeah, I know "TV time" I was going to say the same thing, but I didn't want to sound too technical. No offense fazzle, I'm just saying.
