LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I think the ending tied the whole show together quite nicely. Sunnydale is gone, Buffy is free, and now the world is full of Slayers.
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted May 21, 2003 One thing I'm slightly disappointed about is if they did go into the Hellmouth, it was only filled with those demons rather then many different ones as seen in The Gift.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 My only complaint is that it was only an hour long. It went too fast!
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Told y'all that Angel wasn't sticking around. Damn, I'm gonna watch the tape as soon as I get off....
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I also like how Buffy isn't the most special girl in the world now. How the burden is lifted.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 21, 2003 bah...that was a weak anti climatic finale. I don't care for finales that are treated as just another episode. There's no real finality and it's just like it's the end of another season.
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted May 21, 2003 This thought just hit me! Was Sunnydale evacuated beforehand? If not...we just witness mass murder
Guest Kagato Otaku Report post Posted May 21, 2003 What's with The First though? Did the first manage to change to physical form? Cause if not then The First should still be around. That threw me off a little, I expected Buffy to fight the actual First to end it. No, it wasn't corporal. The ending is senseless, as all that was done was put a large crater where Sunnydale, California and a certain hellmouth used to be.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 21, 2003 That was pretty awesome. I was like on the edge of my seat in the last half. Like one of the best end-of-the-world situations in the show ever. Spike's sacrifice was brilliant and the perfect way to end his story and his journey. Anya's death is just...a shock. I love her and have a feeling I'm going to be really sad once it sinks in she's gone. I see where they were going, trying to end her story by having her go out helping someone and unafraid, but it just feels really shallow and pointless the way it was handled.... Activating the SITs is something I thought may happen when they started hyping up how Buffy and Faith are "alone"......and I must say Joss is a genius. What a PERFECT way to close the show without just like killing all demons in the world. From day 1 this show has been about how Buffy is alone, how Buffy has to handle this big responsibility, and how much it screws up her life. Even though the actual SITs are obnoxious....this was such a great way to go. I am REALLY disappointed in The First. Out of all the things they botched this season, it is the worst. No final battle? Weak. It just vanished! What is stopping it from coming back later? They never even explained it's plan or how it was able to merge with Caleb. If they couldn't afford the CG to have it fight they could have at least put a big final battle with Caleb inside the Hellmouth instead of killing him in 5 seconds in the opening. Even without that this would be better had they actually given some kind of a closure to it...like say that since the SITs have been activated the scales have been tipped for the good side and so it's powerless or something. Anything is better than it just bailing.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I got my all time Buffy laugh tonight also. After Spike said "He wears lifts you know." You see the punching bag and there's the crude drawing of Angel's face. I lost it.

There's no real finality and it's just like it's the end of another season. What? I thought this tied the whole series together quite nicely. Everything that Buffy has dealt with was really changed or ended. She's free to have a life, and the slayer line isn't all messed up anymore. Yes Sunnydale was evacuated a couple of episodes ago. Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Thanx Parka, wasn't sure cause I caught last week's episode but missed the one previous to that.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, I don't see how you can say this has no finality. Anya's story is done. Willow's magic story was blown off. Spike's story is done. Buffy's life can begin. Even Faith's story was blown off. The only thing anti climatic is that The First just left.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I know I bitched a lot in my first post...but overall I was happy with the way the show ended. But if that was all they were going to do with Angel they could have left him out.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted May 21, 2003 This thought just hit me! Was Sunnydale evacuated beforehand? If not...we just witness mass murder Sunnydale was evacuated, so no worries there. I thought it was a great ending, a great finale, though I felt, like the rest of you, that Anya just went out so...quickly, and brutally. And Xander didn't even get to see her before she did. Oh, tears, tears, tears. Also, I don't know. The First's army was destroyed. It's just going to retreat now, right? I guess the idea is that, with so many Slayers in the world, it won't have a chance. We still don't know what the deal with Beljox's eye was. Something's wrong with the slayer, didn't it say that in Showtime? Are we still assuming it's cause the Scoobs brought her back? What exactly allowed the First to make its move now? That's never entirely been clear to me. Also, what was not choosing Dawn, as foreshadowed in "Conversations with Dead People"? Just sending her away with Xander? Or are we now to assume that was just the First talking trash? Good stuff, but still a couple questions...

Buffy's life can begin. Even Faith's story was blown off. The only thing anti climatic is that The First just left. Well what were we expecting? You can't kill the first evil. They just took away it's tools. I'm sure The First will make life hell on Angel sometime.
Guest Crux Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Awesome ending. I think Spike dying was appropriate. I could see Anya's dying coming, but it was still kinda shocking to see it. Awesome finale, awesome show. It was a great run.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Another little thing that bothered me. Ok, the girls are Slayers, and they've had a little training...but should they really have known how to fight that well? Just cause you're strong doesn't mean you can fight. And the little redhead SIT bugged me at first, but she grew on my near the end.
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I was digging the red headed SIT as well. I was really hating Kennedy though, just rubbed me the wrong way. OMG, poor Anya. Wasn't even found...gah...*cries more*
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 The skinny SiT from that one episode died didn't she?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I also loved how you though Giles and Xander were planning starategy...but were really just playing D&D with Andrew. And I think Wood would have had a better ending dying.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Well what were we expecting? You can't kill the first evil. They just took away it's tools. They should be more clear. They could have explained it's plan, why Caleb was able to merge and what not. They could have explained what the seal was. I mean, that is just sad. We never did find out about the much hyped Seal. We never found out about a lot of stuff. Anyway, The First....they could have had Caleb be in the final battle(and killed right before Spike's deal started). Have Giles or someone explain the night before that if they can kill Caleb then it will be unable to merge with anyone else and therefor be powerless. They didn't even make a point to say that destroying it's plan would send it into remission. They just said nothing. Nothing at all. It just left. There is nothing stopping it from gathering some Bringers, going to Cleaveland and starting all over. They REALLY should have been a lot more clear, especially with all the hype. Guest Cavi Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I really liked the finale. It got some tears from me as that was it. Definitely have finality to it all. I liked the final shot of Buffy. And Spike's sacrifice ruled, though I thought they could have maybe made it a bit more dramatic. I wanted more tears from Buffy! The First being blown off was pretty stupid. Yeah, it was only an hour they had to work with it, but they needed to have finality to that Big Bad and they didn't. What's with all the baddies this year in the Whedonverse going out without much of a bang? And this brings me to Anya...THAT WAS BOGUS~! Her death was way too brutal and was just like "Oh well, she died." Xander seemed sad, but damnit, the woman he loved just freakin' died. You'd think he would be more upset than that. Andrew seemed like the only one really moved by it. All in all, a great ending to Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I really wish Spike wan't on Angel next season. I love the character, James did such an amazing job this year. But that's too good of a sendoff just to just bring him back with a cheap spell or something. I love the idea of Spike sacrificing himself to save the world. Best...TV show...EVER! Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I think the resolution for everything came from all the potential slayers getting their power. Before it was just one girl vs. so much evil... now the scales are balanced. They talked about finding all the Slayers in the world, so obviously there is more work to be done. Whatever "what if's" you have with it, can be solved with the notion that there are hundreds, if not thousands more Slayers in the world to take on whatever the first will bring. It would be neat to see some Slayers show up in Angel.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted May 21, 2003 A bit on Spike that needs spoiler tags Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Spike is going to be on Angel next season. Heard that on E! News Daily.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 It would be neat to see some Slayers show up in Angel. I was thinking just the opposite. Outside of Buffy and Faith they should all drop to the background.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted May 21, 2003 A bit on Spike that needs spoiler tags Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Spike is going to be on Angel next season. Heard that on E! News Daily. Well he signed on to do it a while ago. Since Joss is the only guy who knows what's up before hand he's booking in advance. No need for spoiler tags, everyone knows it already. I still say it's a bad idea to cheapen his death by bringing him back...but if he MUST come back...then bring him back souless.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted May 21, 2003 You just KNOW that one or two "new" slayers will show up. And I don't know, how, but they'll bring Spike back, probably as human
