Guest fazzle Report post Posted July 15, 2003 Well, yes, Spike is a giant penis, but that's not really what I meant

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 15, 2003 does anyone agree with fazzle that the show sucked after season 4? I don't think I ever said it sucked after season 4, but if I did I didn't really mean it. It sucked on a "Buffy scale" so to speak. There was just a noticible drop in quality sfter season 4. It became just another show, instead of something really special. I get that completely. But even from that perspective I can't agree. With the exception of the fantastic season 3, I feel that the last 3 years are better than the first 4.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 15, 2003 Here's my shortened version of such complex issues as why I don't hate Riley and why season 6 was a brilliant season that ranks only behind seasons 3 and 7... Riley: He was the absolute logical next love interest. She had the dark guy, then came the should have been normal guy. I think most of us found a new apreciation for season 4 in rewatching it...and the science vs. magic stuff was pretty good. Riley, even after finding out that he is a commando, is still at heart a good person. And a good person can't live in Buffy's world. By the time he leaves in season 5, having lost everything from his mother figure to his power to his beleif in the Initiative, Riley falls into the realm of much darker and defeated character that has been completely destroyed living in Buffy's world. I find that arc interesting. Season 6 was great. It was basically all about 2 storylines...Buffy's return and Willow's fall. No story arc has ever examined the dark psyche of the Buffyverse than Buffy's relationship with Spike after her return. Meanwhile, Willow's character becomes the strongest and most volatile in the show's history. Willow. Willow. WILLOW. Life is hard. This ain't ballet. Later I'll explain why everyone should love season 7 and how Adam was the Big Bad that had the best chance to succeed.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I was a big fan of Adam. I liked where they went with him and liked that (at the time) he was physicaly the most threatening bad guy Buffy's faced.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I've never had a problem with the character's execution by Blucas. That's how Riley is. I always just thought his character was lame. Now I don't.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I was alright with the character of Riley, but Marc was pretty bland. No much emotion in what he does. But he wa ok
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 15, 2003 I liked the character of Riley for the most part, mostly when he was in the Initiative. He was a good-hearted, strong-willed college boy with some fun banter amidst his "frat brothers." I didn't like his interactions with Buffy through the majority of the season. "Lord me spare me college boys in love," said Maggie Walsh, and she was damn right. The Buffy/Riley relationship was so...normal...that it just couldn't compete with the angsty broody anti-Moonlighting of the Buffy/Angel relationship. We definitely had to see that a normal relationship without the glamor and the gloom and the mystery would be awkward for Buffy at this stage in her life, but it's too bad the moments between them didn't come off a little better. Also, my TiVo says that "First Date" is going to be on UPN tonight. Who knows if it'll really be that or just a repeat of the Top Model finale, but here's hoping. That's one of my favorite episodes from Season 7--the revelations about Wood's identity, utter hilarity throughout, and Xander's date, which is, admittedly, the lowlight--and oddly it's an ep that very few other people seem to really like. Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted July 15, 2003 In other Blucas news, what's with him and modest success? He's in I Capture The Castle, had a supporting role in the bomb of a Gwyneth Paltrow flight attendant movie, and gets to be male lead opposite Katie Holmes in something else coming out in a few months. I mean, it's not a huge resume, but it's infinitely deeper than that of any other Buffy cast member except perhaps Seth Green.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Buffy IS on UPN tonight, but not for another hour!
Guest TUS_02 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Wait, have they always been showing repeats of Buffy on UPN?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 16, 2003 They've been showing that Top Model shit...I haven't seen a BUffy on UPN in a while
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Ah the episode that reminded me that Ashanti isn't pretty. It looks like someone hit her in the face with a large mallet and her face stayed that way.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Ah the episode that reminded me that Ashanti isn't pretty. It looks like someone hit her in the face with a large mallet and her face stayed that way. I dunno. The more I see her the better she looks. She didn't do much for me in that ep though. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Haha Johnathan shows up a little skinnier and with a new haircut even though he's dead and it's The First.
Guest Mole Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Nah, "First Date" wasn't all that good. Maybe it was because I didn't like Wood, but that is just me. You guys just need to get season 7 on DVD, that way you don't have to waste your time waiting for dumb UPN to show the re-runs.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 I can't get Season 7 on DVD. I don't have a DVD player that can play the region that has Season 7 out. I think that stupid model show is over so UPN should be showing Buffy from here out. Plus in December or so FX will start showing Season 7.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Man Xander had it bad in Season 7. He was stabbed and had his Eye Gouged out.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 16, 2003 I just love "Are you wearing a wire?" Then you get Willow in the basement with headphones and that Oh Shit look on her face
Guest Cavi Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Man Xander had it bad in Season 7. He was stabbed and had his Eye Gouged out. Not to mention he still had that gut, which we all got to see in that ep.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Well you can tell Nicholas Brendon and Kelly Donavan apart now since Nick got a gut and Kelly didn't.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted July 16, 2003 But Kelly doesn't do anything. He did an ep of Undressed. I thought it was Nick though. That's probably what they wanted people to think. According to IMDB: Filled in for his brother Nicholas Brendon during filming of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode "Intervention" when Nick became sick. I'll need to check that out again and see if I can spot a difference
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Yeah I was just joking around.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Once again proving that there is NOTHING remotly good about "The Doublemeat Palace" Except the giant penis. And Spike railing Buffy against the side of the Doublemeat, though that can really fall under what you mentioned, too. That "sex" scene couldn't have been more depressing. The look in her eyes at during that scene defined the entire "relationship" she had with Spike(well that and the "This isn't real, but I just want to feel" at the end of OMWF). She REALLY didn't give a shit about him. I know I keep defending season six..but I love season 6 and...[sniff]..I want you to love it, too. I..I'm sorry. I'm not really good at making speeches. But I think that my feeling can be best expressed through a timeless song... [sigh] It was the heat of the moment...telling me what my heart meant. The heat of the moment, showed in your eeeeeyyyyyeeeees. I never meant to be so bad to you. One thing I said that I would never do....
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Never EVER bring ASIA into this thread. You sonnofabitch.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2003 You were suppose to ride with the South Park reference. Great...now you destroyed it. I hope you're happy.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 16, 2003 I'm all abouts ruinin shit. And that STILL doesn't justify bringing ASIA into this. You Sonnofabitch.
Guest Ripper Report post Posted July 16, 2003 oh...OH!!! now you have a problem with Asia??? [clears throat] you ~Raci... Oh..wait...you meant the band...yeah they did suck ass. Well, let me get back on the subject before I get banned. I just watched "As you Were" again, and alot of the things that I hated about that ep (Rileys perfect wife, Riley not mentioning he was married, Spike acting out of character with the stupid egg plot, Buffy being stupid) made more sense this time and I actually like it more. Although Riley's wife is still annoying.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted July 16, 2003 Riley came back with a scar in that one, right?
