I wasn't watching at the time, so I inquire:

When Riley came back for "As You Were," did UPN hype it all? They went pretty heavy duty with the "Faith returns to Sunnydale!" and "Angel returns to Sunnydale!" business this year, and I would be very amused if they tried to pull the same thing off with Captain Cardboard.

The Eps. where Buffy finds out that Glory is a god was on last night... I really enjoy that Eps. Very funny. The deal with the britchick and Spike, classic. Spike OWNS that season - probably the best performance of a singular character in the shows history.

I don't know. His performace of Crazy Spike, Evil Spike and Good Spike in season 7 was a thing to behold. And the performance at the end of Beneath You...that is what the Emmy was invented for...of course he won't be nominated, but that is what it was invented for.

Season 5 had Spike totally come out and say "I own this show". Everything else afterwards was based on things set up in Season 5.... cept for CRRRAZY Spike.

It introduced Passions-loving Spike, it had Spike lusting after Buffy, Noble Spike not telling Glory a thing, "Out - for - a - walk... BITCH" Spike. AKA "Fabulous Spike"

Spike was great in seasons 2, 4, 5, and 7...especially 5 and 7. I didn't get into the whole relationship deal in season 6. Wished they would have canceled it after season 5.

Guess "Prophocy Girl" and When "She Was Bad" are on tomorrow. Also UPN's showing "Storyteller" next Tuesday, that one's funny enough to watch again.

They didn't hype it up that much. The trailer was like "One thing can stop a Slayer...the man she loved returns *shows a few clips of Riley from the ep*" and that was about it.

So Buffy only gets one Nomintation from the Emmy's. I woulda thought it would have gotten some sympathy from them since it WAS the last season and it did get some heavy coverage... well, Chosen did...

...which is ironic, since that is the episode that is nominated.

Buffy usually gets ripped off in favor of more artsy shows.

I'll take your word for it... I've never seen an episode.

Back to the subject at hand, I just started on Season 3 and finished Anne and Dead Man's Party. Neither really set the tone for the season, which is strange, but I LOVED the tension between Buffy vs. Joyce + friends. It kinda makes me understand the symbolism in Xander losing an eye.

Those are maybe my 2 least favorite of the season...it gets much better

You didn't like Gingerbread. I thought that was a kick ass episode. It didn't really go with the rest of the season, but as a stand alone ep, it was pretty damn good.

Posted

The only thing important about Gingerbread AT ALL is Amy turning into a rat. Other than that and a few funny lines from Willow, it has no redeemable value, in my opinion.

Sweet.

IIRC that's only the second nomination of any kind for the show (the other being the Hush script).

I watch Buffy and I watch Alias. I watch Jennifer Garner get nominated every year...and I watch Sarah Michelle Gellar have to do more acting in one episode than Garner does in a season.

And don't get me started on James MArsters deserving a nod for this last season. Best acting on TV.

I just went back to the first page of this thread and I can't believe that it's still going strong.

Back on the first page, we were drooling over ourselves on rumors that Eliza Dushku would return as Faith, the fact that Season 3 was going to be released on DVD and wondering how bad Spike with a soul would be. Pretty funny considering.

Sweet.

They got nominated for Best Visual Effects in a Single Episode and chose "Chosen", most likely because all the Ubervamp battle and the destruction of Sunnydale.

Definitely not something that'll be shown on the actual show.

I thought for sure that the soul would kill Spike's character.

(looks at the Emmy nominees for best supporting actor)

Bah.

No, but it sure did kill Buffy's character, since that's all she talked about.

I liked Buffy's character in season 7, but would it have killed the writers to have her to apologize to Spike for last year? I mean she treated him like shit and beat the crap out of him in the alley and yes she did acknowleged it, but not once did she ask for forgiveness. I know its not big thing but just pisses me off a little. I also noticed they never really brought up the Dawn/Spike friendship again, which is a shame because its one of the few things I liked about Dawn's character.

Of course Buffy didn't get nominated for something, did you guys really think it would?

James defiently should of been nominated for something, but that is the Emmy's for you. If the show wasn't on UPN, it would of received some nominations.

Buffy did get nominated for something. But it's only one nomination and it's for Special Effects for "Chosen"

The only thing I don't like about "Prophecy Girl" is that the Master hardly even bites Buffy. It's kinda weak.

I noticed that too. Did she even lose enough blood to become unconcious?

He's the friggin master!

I was more disapointed that Buffy just tossed him and killed him in a split sec. I'd rather they have some epic fight scene...could have had the same ending, but could've been longer

I meant it didn't get nominated for something that means something.

It's kinda tough when your up against superstars like Matt LaBlanc and EVeryone Loves Raymond.
