LaParkaYourCar Posted December 5, 2002 Report Posted December 5, 2002 Man I know I should go to bed when I start sticking my foot in my mouth on a wrestling board.
Guest Max Danger Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Once again, huh? The demon is still in there, like I said, it just has to share the same space and conflicts with his newly acquired soul. Which was mentioned in the original post, which you "corrected". But he hadn't been feeding when he got the soul back. The chip continues to work. When he rammed that rod into the man's shoulder in "Beneath You", he screamed out in pain. Same when he punched Xander a few weeks back. Him changing from normal-faced to vampire-faced has nothing to do with the chip. Any and all vampires have the ability to do that. But he couldn't feed on humans regardless, because of the chip. ....... NO ONE MENTIONED THE CHIP. The chip has jack to do with the conversation. Nor does the First's influence over Spike. Neither was metioned in the context of the conversation until *you* brought them up. Why you did so is beyond my scope. No one's questioning that Spike wasn't under the First's control. So I don't get why you're lecturing us on that. I think the demon that took over Spike is what they raised. That's what Buffy told was beneath her, and what Spike drove out when he got his soul back. Interesting, but Spike's inner demon should still be with him. Just dormant like Angelus while the original soul's in control. Unless African tribal demon magic works its wonky ways better than Orb of Thessullah magic. But that would mean Spike wouldn't be able to morph AT ALL, and from the eps we've seen we know he can vamp-out at will. I took that as bps saying the demon's been driven from him fully, and that's what the First raised. I said that'd be a neat idea, but Spike's *still* a vampire, so the demon's still in him. Where'd you get all this other junk? Of course, I could be completely wrong here. But that's how I've interpreted everything. You could be. Or I could be a jaded asshole for no reason. I think you mistook a few things, and ended up WAAYYYYYY out there in your rebuttals. I think I was just explaining how he was feeding... I think. Just kinda read what you said, and went further with it, without any of it being mentioned(ie, the chip). So, it was me basically just telling myself(getting it out of my head) about how I think he was feeding. Because he's only feed on humans when the First was controlling him(which I'm assuming is using the chip, as the Intiative had originally planned it to be used... they are just now(the writers) getting around to showing what the chip was used for... three seasons later). So... I don't know. I just tend to ramble at times. So ignore me.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 Wait a minute. If that means the Initiative was involved.......Riley isn't coming back is he?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 I thought the gov. discontinued funding for the initiative - so the odds are it won't come back. Does anyone know (or think) that Whedon or one of his writers are DBZ fans? It's just the 'booking' reminds me a lot of it.
Guest Cavi Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 It's no rumor. TV Guide Online's confirmed it. New ep on the 17th. Yay!! That's great. From what I have heard about DBZ, they build up a fight for a couple shows with people simply cutting promos, and then they finally do fight and it's nothing much.
Guest Special K Posted December 6, 2002 Report Posted December 6, 2002 A couple shows? The main character oncetook 2 entire episodes to charge up a fireball..... that didn't ever work.

LaParkaYourCar Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 I've been watching Season 6 on FX and so far it's not as bad as I thought it would be after seeing what ya'll had to say about it.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 Referring back to last page, I saw MaxDanger refer to Spike feeling the chip kick in when he speared the guy who got turned into the giant worm demon by Anya. After seeing the episode again a week or two ago I think it was, I might have seen something different. It looked to me like Spike EXPECTED to get hurt by the chip and then looked surprised as hell when nothing happened. As to feeling it again when he hit Xander, who knows? Maybe the chip is malfuctioning due to Spike's new soul? I don't know, I just hope Joss gives us some sort of explanation. And yes, I'm looking foreward to seeing what the "real vampire" can do. Doesn't look like Buffy's got to worry about getting horny for him, either.
Guest Mole Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 DEC 17 PREVIEW S P O I L E R S P O I L E R As the Scoobies research the orgins of the First to find a way to rescue Spike, Giles (Anthony Stewart Head) arrives with reinforcements---three apprentice Slayers. (2002) Hmmm. (THIS WILL BE DISCUSSING SPOILERS) I wonder if it's the real Giles or a fake one and those slayers in training are demons? Yes, discussing spoilers.... I have to agree. I don't think it will be Giles, but the Big Bad who is turning itself into other people. How is it that 3 slayers just come about? Doesn't one have to die for one to come about?
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 How is it that 3 slayers just come about? Doesn't one have to die for one to come about? Slayers-in-training, I'm sure. Buffy's an anomaly - she was never formerly trained before attaining Slayer-hood. Both Faith & Ken-DRAH had Watchers and were taught the basics before they came up in line.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted December 10, 2002 Report Posted December 10, 2002 I've always wondered what the deal was with that. That sorta, you know, lessens the 'supernatural power' of the slayer, come to think of it.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I just got Season 2 on DVD. Does anyone else's version have poor picture quality? The first two episodes are real grainy especially in dark scenes.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Well, I saw the preview for next week at the end of the rerun tonight, and it sure looked like regular Giles. Kinda anticlimactic if that's just that, but I'm looking forward to it.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I just watched "School Hard" from Season 2 and Spike said the last slayer he killed begged for her life, but wasn't it the first one who did that?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Neither did...Damn Joss and his loopholes. Like how Angel "had no breath" when Buffy needed CPR...yet he can smoke. Yes, I watch the show too closely. First one just said something like "tell my mother I tried" or something like that. Spike: "Sorry honey, I don't speak Chinese." And the 2nd one...looked to be about the 1970s, just kinda got killed and that was that.
Guest Special K Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I always thought the 'Shool Hard' quote could just be Spike's arrogance and shit-talking.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 yeah he probably was just trying to sound tough. But for a second I thought one of them did beg.
The Dames Posted December 11, 2002 Author Report Posted December 11, 2002 I just got Season 2 on DVD. Does anyone else's version have poor picture quality? The first two episodes are real grainy especially in dark scenes. The poor picture quality is only for the first few episodes for some reason. Everything gets cleared up eventually. As for Angel's "breath", I think it was answered somewhere that they can simulate breath...but don't actually breathe air. Doesn't fly with me, but it's been addressed before. I have to watch "Fool For Love" again, but I could have sworn that the 70's Slayer did say "no" and shook her head a lot before she was snuffed out. Dames

Guest Cavi Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 Well, I saw the preview for next week at the end of the rerun tonight, and it sure looked like regular Giles. Kinda anticlimactic if that's just that, but I'm looking forward to it. One thing that has bugged me about UPN's Buffy promos is that most of them make the show out to be some wacky, goofy, fun fest. Sure, the show has its share of laughs, but they don't need to hype it up like that all the time. I remember the promo for "Hell's Bell" (the wedding ep) last season. It was all cheery, when in fact, the episode was mostly just depressing. As for "Fool For Love", the Slayer struggles while Spike is choking her and cutting the promo on Buffy. Before he snaps her neck, I would say she has this look of fear on her face. She doesn't say anything. And a quote from that ep before I depart for now. Buffy: "You think we're dancing?" Spike: "That's all we've ever done."
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I just realized it will take me awhile to go through my Season 2 DVD, but part of me would love to keep watching till I'm done, but I figured I'd take a break after watching disc 1 and watch the rest later.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I swear the real Giles' head will pop-up later in the season.
cawthon777 Posted December 11, 2002 Report Posted December 11, 2002 I'm inclined to believe that the Giles that we'll see next week is the real one. Just from checking out the preview and the fact that he's bringing three slayers-in-training (don't you love the fact that to be a slayer you have to be a cute girl?), I don't think that the Big Bad would be so elaborate and subtle - especially since they already know of him and what he can do.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Why did FX skip "Normal Again" in the showing of Season 6? I wanted to see that episode.
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Because they don't have the rights to it and several other episodes yet. "Normal Again" and "Villains" air Christmas Eve on UPN. Set your VCR to watch if you're into the whole "family-togetherness on Christmas" kick.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 It's kind of hard to show Season 6 without "Villains" it's a pretty important episode. Isn't that the episode that Willow goes crazy?
Guest Kagato Otaku Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 The deal with FX is that certain episodes are not allowed to be shown until they've been rerun on UPN again. The five offlimits right now I believe are: "Once More, With Feeling" "Normal Again" "Villains" "Two To Go" "Grave" The ban is off of "Normal Again" and "Villains" after 12/24. Ditto any other eps they show during the rerun season. Currently the FX run ends at "Seeing Red" (the ep where Tara is shot). But that's likely to change in time.
LaParkaYourCar Posted December 12, 2002 Report Posted December 12, 2002 Oh ok. I thought I just missed the musical episode I didn't know they couldn't show it.
