Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I don't mean as regular cast members, but as a twist to an already evolving storyline - like an evil villain corrupting a group of Slayers. Angel and Spikes interactions are too fucking priceless to get me upset with the abuse of storyline it would be to bring Spike back from the dead... so bring em on baby!
Guest Sakura Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 All in all, a great ending to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Yeah, I agree. Even though I am bitching about stuff.
Guest Cavi Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Something I marked out big time for - when Buffy, Will, and Xander walked off in the school, Giles said something to the effect of "The earth is doomed"...the same thing he said at the end of "Welcome To The Hellmouth" after the three of them walked off in the same manner! How awesome. And while the scoring for this ep tonight was good, no Chris Beck. That was a disappointment.

How awesome. I caught that. I'm a mark for any references to the earlier shows.
Guest Sakura Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, that ruled. I am glad there was one final core 4 shot, even if it was short.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, that ruled. I am glad there was one final core 4 shot, even if it was short. Yeah, I was a little disapointed that Xander and Willow didn't have just like a 1 minute deal between the two of them. Same with Buffy and Giles.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Have I heard somewhere something about a possible moive? Anybody?
Guest Cavi Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Anybody else notice how Giles mentioned the Hellmouth in Cleveland? That was a great reference to "The Wish".
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 My problem with it was pretty much well the same as everyone elses. Anya died way too quickly and the Uber Vamps were killed way too easily. I didn't really like the way Spike died. I read the spoilers and knew it would happen, but I didn't find it touching enough. I found Andrew telling Xander about Anyas death to be more emotional than Spikes end. I'm fine with the ending of Sunnydale being destroyed, Angel getting little screen time, and Dawn not dying...but what I CAN NOT stand for is RONA LIVING! That's some BULLSHIT~!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Anybody else notice how Giles mentioned the Hellmouth in Cleveland? That was a great reference to "The Wish". Yeah trying to convince the other Watcher that they did in fact have one...although you'd think a Watcher would know where they were. Maybe the spinoff will be "The Bus of Scoobies"...were the SITs travel around in their Mystery Machine bus solving mysteries and fighting demons from town to town...Giles can drive.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Anybody else notice how Giles mentioned the Hellmouth in Cleveland? That was a great reference to "The Wish". I LOVED that reference and immediately pictured Buffy with the cut lip, tough girl look she had in The Wish.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Well it may have had finality, but it was still very underwhelming. I'm not saying it was a bad episode, but it was just weak for a finale. Sure the episode gave closure to all of the major storylines, but that alone doesn't mean a finale was good. The closure of every storyline lacked a wow factor and were just "yep that gives closure...ok good enough". Buffy writers have made us expect the wow factor. Therefore, I believe that I'm justified for expecting more of it here and being disappointed by the lack of it. Maybe I was expecting too much, but to me it was a very lackluster finale that had closure and not much more.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 but what I CAN NOT stand for is RONA LIVING! That's some BULLSHIT~! Me too man...me too. She was completly out of the last 2 episode, and I thought "maybe they realized that they wrote up such an annoying chatacter and just throught to not bring her back." Sadly I was wrong...least she didn't do much. I'm mad my Buffy or Spike staking a Vamped Dawn (with human face on) didn't happen.
Guest Sakura Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I agree that it is somewhat disappointing, Satanico. I still think, overall, it was good though. I would say the finale pretty much matched the rest of the season, IMO(I know most people here seem to have loved it). I thought it was not remotely bad...but could have been a whole lot more.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I still put it higher then last season.
Guest Cavi Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I'm with Sak - this season (and finale) was good stuff, but had a lot more potential. Like the aforementioned death of Spike. I thought it was really good, but it was not like "OMG, this is soo sad" (which is what I was really hoping for). Another good point of the finale though - none of that lame ass jerky, handheld filming which had been seen in the last few eps.
Guest Kingpk Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 These points probably have been brought up already, but I just got on: "He wears lifts, you know" had me in stitches and the way Caleb was killed was PURE Joss. All in all, a finale that really closed the book, leaving almost no holes or things unresolved. I liked the touch of Buffy breaking into a little smile at the end, it's all off her shoulders now.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I would have liked Spike to have said "So, this is what it's like dying to save the world, this is how you felt.." to Buffy.. Spike saying "no you don't, but thanks for saying it" sorta bothers me... I mean, they should have moved past that...
Guest brokentusk16 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Overall, a decent finale. Not as good as TNG's or B5's, but what is? A few thoughts: 1. CALEB DIED TOO EARLY DAMMIT!!!! He was my man these last few eps! Thumbs down for having him go down so early!! > 2. They didn't explain WHY the First chose this time to attack. We assume it was b/c of Buffy's resurrection. If so, then wouldn't making MORE Slayers screw thing up even more? 3. Amanda died! I liked her the most of all the SiT's. 4. I KNEW Anya would bite it! My shoe-in was right!!
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Yeah, I would have been better off with Spike accepting Buffy's "I love you." Takes all the sadness out of his dusting knowing he's on go be on Angel next season...I can't get past that
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 3. Amanda died! I liked her the most of all the SiT's. She dies and Rona lives...no justice!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 So if he's not on Angel, will you be sad then?
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Stupid Amanda dying! I agree. My favorite SiT, though Vi had been making a run for it lately. Strangely cute, the short-haired one. I agree that Spike's death didn't have quite the punch it did. It could have used a little more Chris Beck score behind it. Still, I get the feeling they are setting up for a Wolfram & Hart resurrection...I'm conflicted. I love his arc ending this way, but I want him back too, and think he could do a lot more.
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Overall, a decent finale. Not as good as TNG's or B5's, but what is? A few thoughts: 1. CALEB DIED TOO EARLY DAMMIT!!!! I was really disappointed with it. Seemed a little anti-climactic.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 So if he's not on Angel, will you be sad then? But he will be. It's already set. I just think it would be best if he had the redemption/dying to save the world ending. I love the character, that's why I don't like the idea.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Excellent news I just read at ATNZone: Drew Goddard, the best writer on the staff this year (Selfless, Conversations With Dead People, Never Leave Me, Lies My Parents Told Me, and Dirty Girls) is heading over to Angel next year. Who cares about Spike? Drew making the jump is even more important.
Guest Cavi Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Drew = Rookie of the Year. Dude was a great addition to the Whedonverse. I also sort of wish Spike was done for good. His arc was great and the ending was perfect.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 But _what if_ Spike doesn't go on Angel... will you have delayed sadness? And I liked TNGs finale. Simple.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 That was the greatest day in Wood's life. 1. Spike died 2. Wood lived 3. The schools gone...so no work 4. He's got Faith. How'd he end up the luckiest man on earth?
Guest Max Danger Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 Nevermind. Cavi brought it up first. (The originals having the same get-together and walk-off as in Season One.)
