Guest Max Danger Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Like an idiot I had taped Season Seven on tapes with other shows(Angel, Firefly, Miracles, etc.) and didn't put them all in order and together like I had with 24. So, last night, I went through the tapes and labeled(numbered and named) the episodes so I could watch through Season Seven again, to see how well it held up and all that jazz. (I'm missing episodes 7.3 "Same Time, Same Place", and 7.4 "Help", damn it.) Anyway, I was watching the Anya-centric episode, "Selfless" and I was wondering, what kills a Vengeance demon? A sword through the chest obviously doesn't get it down, so I was just wondering. Obviously incinerating works, but your regular Slayer isn't going to be able to do that like D'Hoffryn. And on that same vein(Vengeance Demons), in "Beneath You" Halfrick(sp?) told Anya that something big was coming and that she was going to have to choose sides. That it wasn't going to be good to be a good guy. Where did that go? Seemed like all the demons and such were going to team with The First. Why would she have to choose sides? And also, why didn't we get more D'Hoffryn? Man, he ruled.
Guest Max Danger Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Bump, 'cause me post didn't show. Damn yous!

Man, he ruled. #1: Probably incineration and something else that was never explained #2: I think Halfrek assumed The First would win easily and that all the good guys would die. She was trying to persuade Anya to join The First's side even though Anya had been a good guy.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I'd imagine beheading would take care of a vengeance demon. I don't think there's a creature in the Buffyverse that won't die if you pop its head off. Anya was used so well in the first 5 episodes of the season. Makes it all the more disappointing that she slummed through the middle part of the season with absolutely nothing to do.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Well I don't find Willow to be very attractive (see, not attractive at all) - so yes, different strokes indeed. They had to dum down Anyas character - they were going to kill her off. RRR: Still waiting for the Xander spin-off w/ Andrew and Spike and now the Ghost of Anya (in the body of Andrew).
Guest Cavi Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I don't think there's a creature in the Buffyverse that won't die if you pop its head off. I know of one, though it was over on Angel...
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Lilah gives great head, just ask Wes
Guest Max Danger Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Yeah, Lorne on Angel has no problem with decapitation. But on Buffy, taking off the head seems to be the best way to kill anything. Shrug. The start of the season was really great, I think. They just really started slowing everything down once the SITs came in. Oh well. And another thing about "Selfless", Xander made a crack about calling that chick from "Beneath You" (names are just slipping the mind right now) and saying something about sticking something sharp in his eye. Found that slightly amusing, since, ya know, lost that eye later on.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Wonder who'll make the first post of the 100th page? Would that be a TSM landmark moment? Though imagine the greatness that'd be a Xander/Spike/Andrew show as mentioned by RRR...I say somebody tell Joss that
LaParkaYourCar Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 And another thing about "Selfless", Xander made a crack about calling that chick from "Beneath You" (names are just slipping the mind right now) and saying something about sticking something sharp in his eye. Guest Max Danger Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Yeah, everytime I watch that episode I make a remark along the lines of, "And one season later..." Wonder if they think about these things when writing the episodes? Or just coincidence?
Guest fazzle Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Probably the majority of them are the writers watching old tapes, then finding a throwaway comment and going "Ya know, we could look like we were really smart...."
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 lol..I could just imagine Joss watching old episodes and writing notes in his notebook for later use seasons later
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Joss did write both the ep where she said that (The Freshman) and the ep where Joyce dies (The Body)
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 the ep where Joyce dies (The Body) Joyce dies in "I was made to love you"
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 I plan on writing the pilot eps. for the Xander spin-off sometime in the near future. The addition of the Ghost of Anya in Andrews body is too good to pass up. "Reconstructing Xander" is the tentative title, and I'm not sure if Anya will morph from Andrew or not. The explanation will be Anya saved Andrews life and made a deal that allows her to come back to life, but she must share the life she saved. So Anya has made it her duty to get Andrew a life. Theme for Reconstructing Xander: Sunnydale's gone and he's moving on, to bigger and better things. Without an eye, you know he's the guy, for whatever the future brings. Vampire Fights and Big City Lights, Xander, he's our man He'll fix your door, windows and more He'll do anything he can. Cause he's Reconstructing Xander, There to save the day. Reconstructing Xander, Doin' it the Scooby way. When you're in trouble, when you're it doubt He'll be there to help you out When you're trapt and need to be Freed Reconstructing Xander Reconstructing Xander Reconstructing Xander's who you'll neeeeeeed.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 If Spike had made it I would have suggested a Spike/Xander spinoff when they move to New York and get an apartment together and get part time jobs to pay rent. First first 10 minutes alone would be worth it. Xander teasing Spike and not inviting him in the house for a while (his name is on the lease afterall)
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Joss has commented a few times on how they sometimes pick up on those old details to make themselves look smart. The one that sticks out most is re-using Spike's wardrobe from "Restless" in "Tabula Rasa," which was definitely a conscious choice in the sense of "Hot damn, people'll think we thought this far ahead!"
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 22, 2003 Report Posted June 22, 2003 Spike is a must for the spin-off. But the whole Angel deal - he won't be a regular. It's a shame, because Spike + Andrew = Gold.
The Dames Posted June 23, 2003 Author Report Posted June 23, 2003 I'm up to Hush in Season 4...and I must reiterate that I still hate Riley Finn. Dames
Guest fazzle Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I'm up to Hush in Season 4...and I must reiterate that I still hate Riley Finn. But he's still the best of the semi-major males introduced that season.

Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Parker was lame, but a necessary evil in the end. He got Buffy to move on from Angel. So when are all of these season recaps going to be up, and where will they be? I can't wait to read them.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I couldn't get into the Parker thing. She just cried too much over it.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Well I don't find Willow to be very attractive (see, not attractive at all) - so yes, different strokes indeed. They had to dum down Anyas character - they were going to kill her off. RRR: Still waiting for the Xander spin-off w/ Andrew and Spike and now the Ghost of Anya (in the body of Andrew). I thought Willow was hot, but as you said, different dtrokes... And I don't think they dumbed down Anya, I think they wrapped her character up early, and thus didn't really need to explore it anymore. Thus, sshe was pushed into the background.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 And since this is my 1000th post, it just has to be here. And to keep it on topic, I hope Xander adn Andrew take a trip to LA to see Angel at least once next season.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I like Anya speaking her mind and just not knowing any better. And I wouldn't call Aly "hot"...but she's cute as all hell
Guest fazzle Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Yeah, and the worst part of the Parker storyline is that it took one of the worst episodes of the series for her to get over it.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Yeah, I'd probably call Aly more "cute" then hot as she looks a hell of a lot better dressing as a regular Joe rather then something like Stacy Kiebler would wear
Guest fazzle Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Yeah, I have to agree with that. Her skin shoots just look...weird and awkward.
