Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 I know Jamie Knoble is still the champ and most likely will defend against Rey Rey, but beyond that and the Velocity matches, does the division still really exist? Smackdown used to boast the cruiserweights and I can't seem to remember them saying anything about them lately. Is their min-push gone for now, especially since Steph wants to be the main focus of everything?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 The cruiserweight division was in WCW silly. *phone rings* Mmm hmm, uh huh, yeah, oh ya don't say - the wwf has a cruiserweight division right now? - putting on the best matches... Hmm, that's interesting... No actual storylines or anything of the like... So why are they there? To put over Albert and Mark Henry? You don't say! That's just so.... Vince Mcmahon.
Guest Brian Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Ehh, after this Knoble/Mysterio match I think it'll get a second wind. Either Rey wins and people start paying attention, or Knoble wins and there's a chase for everything
Guest Spaceman Spiff Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 And even Jamie Knoble has been taking a backseat to "Look at Nidia the Slut!" lately. Either Rey wins and people start paying attention, or Knoble wins and there's a chase for everything I vote for Knoble keeping it, and, if they're adamant about Rey getting it, stetching the feud out to at least the next PPV.
Guest nikowwf Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Nope, it dissapeared to make more time for homosexuals and for stephanie to demonstrate her fantastic acting skills. Niko
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Of Course the Cruiserweight division had it's TV time cut back. They had to make room for Stephanie.
Guest notJames Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Of Course the Cruiserweight division had it's TV time cut back. They had to make room for Stephanie. Yeah, they only had room for just two boobs flip-flopping around...
Guest BoboBrazil Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 WWE cruiserweight division sucks ass anyway. They don't let them wrestle the style people wanted to see, so the might as well kill the division and get rid of the belt. It is pointless.
Guest Goodear Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Uhmm... Weren't Rey Jr., Chavo, and Matt Hardy all on the show last week? Oh yeah, there's no cruiserwieghts on SmackDown. Not a one. **SPOILERS** Aren't those guys all also on this week's show with both Noble and Hurricane too?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Problem with the Cruiser division is we need more credible contenders. Either that or La Parka. =b *dodges fruit* No really though, aside from Hurricane/Noble round 30 or another Rey match, there's nothing out there. And if they give it to Rey, the division, as it is, has done pretty much everything. =/
Guest nikowwf Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 The cruisers are on the show. There is no real "division" though, no group of people going for a title. They are treated like any other wrestlers, just shorter and with no hope of ever winning a world title. So i'd say the division is pretty much gone at the moment. niko
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Uhmm... Weren't Rey Jr., Chavo, and Matt Hardy all on the show last week? Oh yeah, there's no cruiserwieghts on SmackDown. Not a one. **SPOILERS** Aren't those guys all also on this week's show with both Noble and Hurricane too? I didn't say they weren't around. I said they aren't being discussed as the all important Cruiserweight division like before. Plus, Matt has been wrestling against heavyweights, Chavo has been teaming with Eddie against heavyweights, and Knoble hasn't been on the mic much lately.
Guest Goodear Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 So, here's the question. Do you want the WCW version where the cruiserweights are pretty much on their own (but aren't allowed to "play with the big boys" aka Chris Jericho v. Goldberg) or the WWE version where they spend a lot more time facing heavyweights which sort of lessons the importance of the cruiserweight division? Personally, I like it better this way... I just wish they'd push certain cruisers a bit more (Hurricane, Tajiri) and some heavyweights less (I don't know if you'd say Mark Herny is being pushed though). But having heavyweight-cruiserweight interaction is fine with me.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 I want RVD or Jericho (although it's looking like Jericho now) to give the Cruiser guys look like legitimate IC title stuff. I don't see them holding the full strap, but it would make them look like they can hold the IC belt up, while giving the IC belt more than a "You just weren't good enough for the big one" stigma.
Guest razazteca Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 you know what they need, the tried and true get over gimmick match.....the 6 Man Elimation match!!!!! but of course the WWE versian would look less like NWA TNA and more like WWA survival match
Guest Brian Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Well, they could do both and still push the cruiserweights, which is basically the New Japan concept (except now they job like crazy it seems).
