Guest BoboBrazil Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 “Y2J” Chris Jericho stepped “Between The Ropes” to discuss WWE awarding Triple H the World title, his place in the pecking order in WWE, internet analysts and his band, Fozzy. The former undisputed World Champion signed a contract with WWE in August and couldn’t be happier. Feeling like he has accomplished all his goals, Jericho simply wants to entertain and help boost the younger wrestlers – a gesture never granted to him in WCW. “My motivation is to help keep the business strong by doing the exact opposite of what so many guys have done when they start getting to be big-name guys,” he said. “I won’t try to keep down younger guys or keep down the natural progression of talent.” Jericho suggests that internet analysts are misinformed if they believe he is being buried. He feels comfortable moving around on the card and pointed out that he is in the main event on Raw and at most house shows. To further illustrate his point, he has even has suggested that he lose some of his matches. “I’m kind of bullet-proof,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if I win or lose. I’m one victory away from being the champion again and everyone would believe it.” He said his days in WCW were a great learning experience because he learned how to make the most out of a bad situation. In other words, he won’t be leaving the company due to a riff with the creative team. “Part of being in this business is being able to adapt, not always being in the spotlight, and also taking things that suck and making them good,” he said. Awarding Triple H Raw’s world title was a bad angle that has led to its devaluation, according to Jericho. He said it was disappointing, although he admits that he doesn’t know the long-term plan. “I thought it was terrible and I would tell Vince to his face that I thought it was a very WCW-type move,” he said. “I hate stuff like that. It’s a lack of logic that really bothers me.” The character who proclaims himself king of the world said he is happy with WWE’s promotion of his band, and he said it shows the business acumen of the company. “Bigger name recognition for me equals more name recognition for them as well,” he said. The heavy metal maniac (and fellow Helloween fanatic) said he came up with the angle where Ric Flair attacked him during Fozzy’s performance on Raw and trashed the set. “We were the most hated band in America for that night and I thought it was just awesome,” he said. “It was funny trying to explain to the record company and to some of the guys in the band that when they were chanting “Fozzy sucks” before we even started playing that it wasn’t because the band sucked. It was because they hated me.” “Between The Ropes” is a two-hour radio program hosted by Brian Fritz and Dickerman that airs each Wednesday night at 10:00 p.m. on 740 The Team in Orlando, Florida and worldwide at www.betweentheropes.com. 1wrestling.com

Hmmm....
Guest Masked Heel Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Jericho seems to have a good head on his shoulders there i'm suprised at anyone who is so willing to elevate new talent and except his posistion he sounds defeated to me like he knows he will never rise again that doesn't mean i can't hope

Guest AndrewTS Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Someone who is over can take several big losses, and still come back later. Jericho isn't over. He hasn't been over in a long time, and on Raw I can't help but think of him only as "the jobber who beat RVD for the IC title." The guy hadn't won a match on PPV or TV in about 2 months, I swear.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 I've thought Jericho has looked and sounded like a defeated man since the day after the Rumble.
Guest Lord of The Curry Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Good for Jericho, doing what WCW didn't, what with the elevating of young talent. That Ric Flair is such a young go-getter, I'm glad to see Jericho elevating him. Oh, and that HHH and that RVD, they're almost ready for the big time. God bless Jericho.....
Guest Human Fly Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Once again Rev. Jericho comes forward to preach some gospel truths. Maybe the Raw Title would be looked at as something with value if they would've had a tournament for it ala WM 4. It's stupid crap like that and the #1 contender thing from a few weeks ago on Smackdown that the Undertaker won that leave fans scratching their heads. They never should've split up the World Title.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 They never should've split up the World Title. But if not, how will they have the last-ditch "UNDISPUTED FOR REALZ THIS TIME~!" tournament to get ratings at the year's end?
Guest Masked Heel Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 But if not, how will they have the last-ditch "UNDISPUTED FOR REALZ THIS TIME~!" tournament to get ratings at the year's end? Undisputed For Real This Time belt huh u think they will hand it to HHH?
Guest Angle-plex Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Jericho suggests that internet analysts are misinformed if they believe he is being buried. Meanwhile, Triple H attends a booking meeting and decides Jericho should job to Flair at Unforgiven.
Guest Trivia247 Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 Our own Assumpsions, even if Jericho maybe putting on his "Best face" for the WWE and their booking procedures, we should sometimes take the step back and realize we ourselves aren't at the booking meetings so we don't know.
Guest papacita Posted September 19, 2002 Report Posted September 19, 2002 They never should've split up the World Title. BLASPHEMY! As for Jericho, it's good to see he's going out of his way to help out younger talent, but how can he do that if he doesn't win? He may not care whether or not he wins or loses, but the fans see that, and when they see him losing to guys like HHH, Cena, and Flair week after week after week, that kills his credibility, kills his heat, and pretty much kills his ability to give "the rub" to younger stars. He's gotta win sometimes!
Guest Vern Gagne Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Looks like HHH accomplished his goal. Jericho no longer cares and more importantly the fans don't either.
Guest Kotzenjunge Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 We'll see how he's treated at Unforgiven and Raw the next night before we really jump to any conclusions as to what his fate for saying this stuff is. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest BoboBrazil Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Oh Jericho will go over at the PPV, but it won't mean anything because HHH made sure everyone knew last Raw how worthless a win over Ric Flair is by having him job to Rico and then start a losing streak angle. Not to mention the fact that this match had no buildup, except for a few seconds on the last Raw.
Guest Goodear Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 Yeah, yeah, yeah... Triple H books Ric Flair poorly. Ric Flair hasn't been booked well in years, so stop trying to pin every problem you have with the product on HHH. Flair has no credibility because he's NOT CREDIBLE. He stinks now, and shouldn't be in the ring anymore.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted September 20, 2002 Report Posted September 20, 2002 It sure is ironic that HHH makes everyone realize that Flair is on a losing streak and pathetic now right before he was supposed to lose to Jericho, but last month when he beat Jericho's ass clean he was still as good as ever. Everything bad that happens to Jericho can be linked to HHH.
Guest TheyCallMeMark Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 If they turned Jericho face he'd be over after like one show, it doesn't really matter how many times he loses as a heel. Everyone likes to cheer for a charismatic guy with funny jokes who's a dick, and Jericho can pull that off easy. They could literally push him at any time.
Guest godthedog Posted September 21, 2002 Report Posted September 21, 2002 is he preparing for retirement or something? he's fucking 31 years old, HE'S supposed to be the young talent that gets elevated. nobody ever complained about austin never putting the younger guys over in 1998, & he was older than jericho is now. the man's got at least 5 years left in him before he even starts to deteriorate. he can't just sit on his legacy now, he doesn't even have one yet. as i've said before, the chris webber of wrestling. could be one of the best, but just isn't hungry enough & is satisfied with himself too easily. answers his critics by complaining instead of going out there and physically PROVING how great he is.
