Their fabulous performance against the 49ers (Giving up over 200 yards total rushing) even with the 49ers Starter Garcia out of the game, they are still getting beat 20-10 (inevitably going to lose the game..)

The Defense looks horrible as they cant stop anyone now, and the offense isn't looking much better..

Shane Matthews gets hurt for the 2nd straight week in a row (although both hits were late and penalties were given). Wuerrfel comes in to save the day only to promptly throw an INT and kill the chance at a comeback. Wueffel should be cut (2 games and 2 INTS), and Patrick Ramsey should be the starter after they come of the Bye week.

I know that I wouldn't want to be a Redskin for the next two weeks..

Good to see this overhyped team doing exactly what I knew they'd do.

I'm glad I hate the Redskins. :D

The problem is, I like Steve Spurrier, and I always have. Mike Martz and Brian Billick certainly aren't offensive geniuses, but Spurrier just might be. I think they'll right the ship before season's end. They ran a few very well-designed plays today that their QBs simply didn't execute. Washington's no-name receiver corps is doing its job -- they just need to find someone to reliably get them the ball. If that's not Matthews or Wuerffel, then they'll need to go shopping in the offseason.

Well to be fair they have lost to two good teams. It's not like they've played the Lions, Bengals and Ravens and went 1-2.

Marvin Lewis better start ripping into his defense to get them to perform like they should be.

And i don't really see Redskins as being that over hyped. Going into the season most of the experts were still saying Spurriers offense won't work with his current offensive weapons.

The only thing that most experts were hyping up about Redskins were their defense. They do have a good defensive unit they just aren't playing as well as they should be.

It wouldn't be a post about the Redskins without me saying:

Must give credit to the 49ers for FINALLY getting the running game going. Gaining over 200 yards on the ground was a good help in picking up the win today. I'm pleased with the game overall, too bad the pass never really got going all that much.

But, either way, as a 49ers fan, I'll gladly take this win.

The Redskins have been overhyped a little, but nowhere near the level in 1999 where it was reported Washington D.C. was already preparing a parade, then they missed the playoffs.

I think Spurrier's an offensive genius as well, but any passing offense isn't going to work if the quarterback sucks. Shane Matthews is a decent pro QB, but he isn't a great QB. One wonders what a good QB could do in the Fun and Gun (in the pros I mean).

The surprising part to me is the defense...it's supposedly loaded with All-Pros from front to back..and the Eagles ripped them apart and the Giants stomped all over them. Maybe the age is finally getting to some of them.

I think you mean 49ers not Giants. They haven't played the Giants yet.

Age can't be that much of a factor because Washington is a fairly young team. There's only 5 defensive players that are 30 or older and only two are starters. The defensive until simply aren't playing up to what they are capable of. Marvin Lewis is a good coach and he'll figure out how to correct it.

Here's the run down of the only "old guys" on the Washington defense

Starting

Bruce Smith: He's 39 and his career is basically over

Jesse Armstead: He's 31 and should be productive for several more seasons.

Not Starting

Darrell Green: He's 42 and retiring soon. He's mainly just a 3rd cb now.

Kevin Mitchell: He's 31, but he's just a backup middle linebacker.

Eddie Mason: He's 30, but i've never heard of him so he's a career backup.

Daryl Gardner: He's only 29, but has back problems

As a Tennessee Volunteers fan, I am beyond glad that Spurrier isn't doing that well so far. I won't all out gloat until he starts losing to loser teams though. A loss to the Eagles and 49ers are excusable, sort of.

Has a Florida St. fan I hope for nothing but failure for Spurrier. Although the FSU-Florida rivalry won't be the same without him.
