WEEK 3 THOUGHTS

Recommended Posts

Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly

The Falcons should be 3-0. I hate the hell out of Dan Reeves, but his team should be 3-0.

My Giants won again this week, even though they only scored 9 points. The Giants need a runningback. Fuck this thunder and lightning shit, get a good running back. Tiki Barber is a glorified Dave Megget, and Ron Dayne should have just gotten a job instead of trying to make it in the NFL. I knew he was going to be a bust and didn't want the Giants to draft him. If Jerome Bettis is the Bus, Ron Dayne is one of those shitty old vans with the flat front (like the Ninja Turtles drive).

Speaking of Jerome Bettis, it boggles my mind that he can be so fat and play his position.

Shanahan's a good coach and the Broncos are undefeated, but I can't see them going to the Super Bowl this year. Sure they're undefeaed, but so are the Panthers. Maybe I'll change my tune if they keep rolling though (Broncos not the Panthers).

The Cardinals still suck. Damn shame they aren't in the NFC East anymore because I would love those two wins the Giants would get from facing them. On the other hand, I live in Baltimore and I'm glad I don't have to watch them play the Redskins twice a year. I can only take so much of the announcers sounding like a bunch of school girls giggling at David Boston's muscles.

Speaking of matchups I don't want to see, I wish another game could have been shown instead of the Eagles-Cowgirls game. Six or seven years ago, I thought I would savor the day where the Cowboys are getting their asses kicked, but the day has come and I can't stand to watch. I'm becoming a Donovan McNabb fan. I laughed my ass off when he did the touchdown dance last Monday (you would have to see the video he stole it from to get the joke) and I laughed my ass off when one of his teammates came up behind him and slapped him on the shoulder pads. He had a classic "who the hell..." look.

I may be the only one, but I don't want to see Emmitt Smith breaking Walter Payton's record. During the "Barry or Emmitt" debates, I was always a Barry supporter and wanted Barry to get the record. Sometimes I think Emmitt Smith's full of shit too. "How can I have joy after a BUTT whipping like that?" Go blow yourself Emmitt. You have three rings already. If you want another one, you can always play for another team because you should damn well know that the Cowboys aint a winning team anymore. You don't see Emmitt playing for a contender because his ass would sit on the bench so much that he wouldn't get any record for another three years. You want to be top dog Emmitt, you have to do it on a losing team. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

While I'm giving out red X's, let me give one to Peyton Manning. If you're going to break a rule, don't ask first you pussy! Then after you ask, don't make a big deal out of it and not do it. I wasn't even going to say anything, but I saw a big horsehoe banner for Johnny Unitas downtown today and the first thing I thought of was Peyton Manning being a pussy.

When do the Dolphins play the Patriots?

Looks like the Bears luck ran out against the Saints.

The Titans will never go back to the Super Bowl. I remember the days when I used to think Eddie George was good. Now he's averaging 3 yards per carry every week and the Titans go out and lose every other weekend.

Dennis Green should be the happiest man alive now that he isn't coaching the Vikings. Everybody thought Randy Moss would carry too much baggage before he came into the NFL. Everybody knows the story of how he slipped into the Vikings' hands yada yada yada. It's four years later, were those critics right?

Hmmm. Rams offense or Tampa Bay's defense? Tampa Bay shut out the Ravens last week, but I wouldn't read into that too much. Brian Billick should be saying, "Playoffs? Playoffs? Are you kidding me? Playoffs? I just hope when can win another game! Playoffs?" The Rams are a beatable team, but I think the Buccaneers are a more beatable team.

I don't know if the Broncos will even win their own division, the Denver/Oakland series should be very interesting this season. Denver's defense looks for real, and Griese is beginning to come around. I think they could win the wildcard, if not the division outright.

The Pats talked about finally getting respect, then nearly pissed it away against Kansas City. Still, they blew out two pretty good teams. A surprise 3-0 meeting, as the Pats face the Chargers next week. The Chargers, however, might be the most unimpressive 3-0 team this year. We'll see how Drew Brees does against a very good NE defense.

Also, since when did NE become the Rams and start throwing 50 times? Tom Brady is really proving that last year was not a fluke.

Speaking of said Rams, there's a good chance that the favorite to win the Super Bowl could be 0-3 after Monday night. I think losing Az Hakim and not having Terrance Wilkins for much other than returns is hurting the Rams...with Hakim any ball he touched could be six if he held on to it...Ricky Proehl is good but he isn't fast, so all teams have to do is keep Bruce and Holt in front of them and force Warner to throw short. It hasn't helped that Faulk hasn't gotten the carries he needs.

Anyone know if Pete Hunter from Hard Knocks is playing for the Cowboys?

Pretty funny moment in Philly - after they announced that Emmitt Smith had broken the record for most carries in a career, all you hear was BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Don't forget that the Panthers are 3-0 and have Rodney Peete starting at QB.

After watching bits of that Vikings game, I wonder if all those passes Moss half-assed were because he didn't feel like giving it 100% -- I don't blame Daunte Culpepper (sp?) for losing it on the sideline...

well I thought that the Giants would of destroyed the Seahawks but having an a QB and RB crew that are there just not to lose the game will not rack up points as expected on a perceived weak opponet.

The Bengals proved to me that they are the worst team in the NFL. When they changed the QB for Furote to Kitna they also changed strategy. With Gus the Bengals threw the ball every down but with Kitna it was give the ball to Dillion every down. If they did just ran the ball with Gus as QB they would of gotten the same results no matter what.

The local talk radio ripped the Cowboys a new one as the Emmit Smith story continues. The talk radio guys made comments like "so what if Emmit gets the record, this does nothing for the team as a whole" which is so true. The sport reporters made several comments attacking Bruce Coslet's, decisions as Offense Cooradinator, all morning. They question why run the ball in the 4th quarter when they are losing by 20 points, how is this going to help Quincy Carter.

The current trend of making an offense solely around one WR, is getting a backlash and rightfully so, as both the 49ers and Vikings are having issues with their premadonna "star". At least this year the Bucs were smart enough to get another WR to help to Keyshawn out.

49ers put the Owens "problem" behind them so move on. They are just currently having qb problems.

Ummm......yeah. That's why Owens ran his ass off on a broken play to get a 38 yard TD run.

At least he gives it a 100% every down.

And Garcia had a stomach virus this week. That's the main reason why he went out. I don't want to see Rattay as the starter.

Patriots -vs- Dolphins two weeks from now in Miami.

Where are the scouts on the Saints who said that Ricky doesn't have the speed to break the big ones. hahahahahaha. Anyways, the Williams trade probably helped both teams more than any trade in recent history.

It's time for Akili. It can't get any worse then it already is so why not put Akili in since you're paying him so much money.

Our WRs need to catch the ball. Plain and simple. Our QBs suck so when the ball actually gets there they need to catch it and make some plays

Defense looked decent, but they just got worn out. Our secondary still sucks, and we should've drafted Phillip Buchanon (or Jeremy Shockey) instead of Levi Jones.

well the Dolphins do have an offensive line that can work magic for the RB.

the 49ers still need another WR to take pressure away from TO, they need a trade for a someone with good hands and a good attitude.

J.J. Stokes and Ty Street is enough. Neither are No.1 reciever material but they can make the defense pay for not giving them respect.

The Bills looked like a football team for the first time in years in the loss.

Bledsoe is at the best I've seen him right now...and the offense has only been together a short time...with a lot of young guys.

Scary.

Special Teams got some stuff done for a change...and the D was better than last week (giving up 21 points since the O fumble was returned for the other 7)

The main problem remains the running game. As soon as it doesn't fire right away...they just keep putting the ball in Bledsoe's hands.

But...given the fact that HEnry has fumbled in the first games...and this week it was the difference maker...I can't say I disagree.

I think the fact Ricky looks leaner and meaner has something to do his recent success (and I'm a RW fan)...

Agreed on all counts. The "pre-madonna star" issue is mostly with the Vikings and Randy Moss. The 49ers don't have that problem, or at least not as bad as Minnesota has it, and I wouldn't exactly call Terrell Owens a "pre-madonna" either, because he is far from that.

As a 49ers fan, perhaps the only one around here, I wouldn't want to see Tim Rattay as the starter either, at least not yet until he is fully ready to become a starting QB in the NFL.

I do however, give Rattay all the credit in the world for not losing the game for the 49ers. He did a fine job out there in relief of Jeff Garcia in my opinion.
