Finish changed at last minute for ppv match

Recommended Posts

Guest Red Hot Thumbtack In The Eye
Feedback to WWE Unforgiven last night has been largely negative, with much of the anger of fans directed at Triple H and the Undertaker for their performances in the ring. Triple H defeated RVD, and The Undertaker gave very little to Brock Lesnar, including a No Contest ending and a beatdown.

Backstage in WWE, there was the same sort of dissention against those two wrestlers. They are regarded as the lockerroom leaders, and are often vocal about doing what's best for the company, but recently, and especially last night at Unforgiven, it's believed that they were selfish in the ring.

The Undertaker/Brock Lesnar match was actually booked to have Lesnar pin the Undertaker, but the finish was changed at the arena last night in LA to the DQ, setting up a rematch for No Mercy where Brock would get the clean pin.

My question is: why change the match ending when the result that should have happened will happen next month anyway?

To generate more cash for the WWE. However, how they are going to do that after making Brock Lesnar look so weak I don't know. Man, aren't the WWE lucky that they have such selfless locker room leaders like Undertaker and Triple H. Maybe the WWE will listen to the fans and do something to rectify the massive mistakes they made at Unforgiven. I doubt it though. I know the comparison has been made many times before but the WWE is really turning into the latter years of WCW.

Like rip the belt off Lesnar so fast his head spins?

And then give him one of those two month Hardy "come back when you don't suck" vacations?

Oh here is a great outcome next month, During the rematch Matt Hardy runs in again and chairshots Taker and Brock pins him, and Everyones FAVORITE 5 year old Roided up Baby Hewey Champion can go on while Taker and Hardy does a match at Survivor Series.

I would have preferred the WWE had Lesnar get the pin over the Undertaker, even if it meant someone interfering in the match and screwing the Undertaker out of winning the WWE Title. See, with no competition, Vince and company think that they can produce whatever they want and fans will still watch and like it. In my case, that's correct. In most cases, though, fans are pissed off with what they're seeing.

I'm sure Brock/Edge is being lined up for Survivor Series while they waste Angle/Benoit/Guerrero in some stupid combination with each other.

Personally, When you consider the amount of people who don't have a big win over Undertaker, or who have wins that make them look week, Brock just simply doesn't deserve a win over taker.

I think the reason for the Double DQ wasn't Taker politcing but just because they don't know who to feed Brock with next. Besides, if Taker got squashed, he'd look like a total pussy. That would never happen.

Taker was really selfish in not selling, though. He shouldn't have been squashed, but he should have sold at least as much for Brock as he could have without making it look like one.

Imagine...someone with a bigger ego than Hogan. Two someones actually.

Because there aren't too many other faces for Brock to run through on the Smackdown roster, and the match would probably draw less if Taker had loss cleanly last night.

And can someone please tell me exactly how Brock was made to look weak last night, because I didn't see that at all.

although I'm just assuming here since I didn't see the show last night...Brock didn't crush him like he has been to everyone else lately. You also look weak if your opponent don't sell much. maybe.

I think it was just the lack of a solid finish, and then being thrown through the sign (which, was an awesome visual to end the show, IMO).

probably by Survivor series like they did 2000 they'll bring back Dean Malenko and probably have a "Radical" Survivor series to keep them occupied and not daring to come to the Main Event to Dirty its Hallowed time with their WORLD CLASS wrestling ability. They might interfere with baby hewey's Magical Shoulder tackles or bearhugs.

Still treated better than Angle at Fully Loaded and Survivor Series, and Angle deserved a win. I shed no tears for Brock. They made their bed, now they can lie in it.

And the kicking. Don't sell Brock short.

Brock looks more believeable against Undertaker, though, as he is rougly the same height.

Even though Angle is a much better worker than those 2 (maybe even combined), it's hard for most people to take someone seriously against the Undertaker if they are much smaller than him.

Honestly, though, I would have preferred an actual DQ (say, Brock lays out Taker with a chair right in front of the ref, or, Heyman interferes one too many times) as opposed to what we got.

I really wouldn't have a problem with the non-finish either if they had done something a little more extreme to get the match thrown out. Ending the match with a WEAK slugfest was bad, but I don't see how anyone can say Brock came out looking weak, especially when the announcers were throwing out that "Oh my God, no one's ever manhandled Taker like that" stuff during the match.

Isn't Taker like 6 inches taller?

MAKE HIM A THREAT. Stop trying to kill his heat, stop making him a joke, and make him a threat. Austin did JUST FINE against Taker.

I still don't see what the problem is. If Brock wasn't worthless, we wouldn't need them to feed Taker to him to get him over, and we wouldn't be in this situation.

Taker = No draw.

Purpose of last nights match = ?

Make that two Pay Per Views do do a .5 or lower buy rate, I guess.

I think Taker needs to realize his "Decade of Destruction" was one long string of rediculous feuds with unover wastes of space with the exception of Hogan, HBK, Bret, HHH, Austin, and Rock.......who all came in at the end except Hogan.

His only title reign that really was cool was his first one. His run in 97 didn't draw and his third reign for a short time in 99 didn't draw. His most recent one didn't draw.

When has he ever been a good draw? When he first debuted?

Well, knowing that Brock will pin Taker at No Mercy means that match will probably be 10X uglier than the match from last night, since you know Taker is going to go out of his way to make sure that while he loses, Brock doesn't look good in the process.

Man, that makes me want to jump on the phone and order No Mercy right this second!

Good for him. Brock hasn't done anything to make Taker go out of his way to make him look good.

Good for you, Taker!

Jesus Christ man, get a grip. I've been reading your whiney anti-Brock posts all day today. Yeah, Brock is the champ and your darling Angle isn't. Get over it.

Funny... you seem to blame Angle's TWO heatless runs on booking, but Brock's run, where he is booked in shit matches like last night, is all his fault. Hard for him to gain major heat when the bookers won't let him.

Or, are you telling me Angle would've came out of last night's Undertaker finish smelling like roses?

Well, with things going in this direction, who wants to take bets now on an F5 victory after interference from both Heyman and Matt Hardy, leading to a Taker squash of Matt at Survivor Series?

Come on people, you know you want in...

ohhh thats not true, I mean who is MORE deserving than Brock Lesnar??? I mean really, THe Hardys bump for him like Pinballs.RVD befell him as well at KOTR 2002, and later managed keep his IC title without beating Brock. Hogan did his only selfless thing in his life in dying for Brock even though he did it because he was at odds with the WWE about the Aussie trip so he basically was told to take the dive. Rock leaving for Helldorado Did his patented Overbumping Pinball OMG he killed him job for Brock. So Why can't the Undertaker????

BECAUSE Brock hasn't proven anything. The WWE handed him a Goldberg like push and people were expending to sell and bump for him because the WWE believes Brock to be the New Sacred CASH COW. So Undertaker simply must lay down his Entire gimmick and Career to Push this Mega Main Eventer. Right???

I think the one thing Last night did do that was Beneficial was to prove that the Monster Heel was Human and take a quote from Arnold in the Predator. "If it bleeds we can Kill it."

And we haven't heard since Unforgiven went off the air...THAT BASTARD Undertaker, NOOO WHY UNDERTAKER WHYYYYYYY? Complaining, whining, bitching, moaning, about the Undertaker? Flaming like Torches.

If Taker can get trashed so can the Sainted World Champion.

Heatless? One was heatless, because Angle is a terrible face. So it ended in two weeks. The other wasn't heatless, just rediculously bad

And I'm going to bitch until Brock does soemthing to earn the belt.

And Angle is, you know, OVER, so he wouldn't need Taker to be fed to him to become over, so that match wouldn't happen.

Question for you... who is more likely to have lobbied (if anyone *did* lobby, mind you), for this finish?

1) Brock "Please don't let me gain heat" Lesner

2) Under "Pulled this shit in the past" Taker

Also, who would benefit most from looking strong in the match?

1) Brock "Booked to be heatless" Lesner

2) Under "The Marks love me no matter what" Taker
