In the Judge's Court

William Hearford III walks well lit halls of the Hot Dog place after the show, looking around for where the card was put up. His outfit off, he wears a nice grayish suit and tie combo which makes him seem 60, even though he’s only around 40. He walks around, irritated that no one cared to inform him of where in God’s name the card was put. He turns the corner toward the general locker room, and sees the massive Thor waiting there near the card.

Hearford discreetly moves past him, but the God of Thunder catches a glimpse of the passing man’s face and grabs him by the shoulder. “Mortal.” the giant Norseman says, “Thou hast bested me fairly. I have waited long for thee to come so I may wish you well after your victory.” Thor breaks a good hearted smile, but Hearford doesn’t return it, promptly bumping his shoulder up to throw Thor’s hand off. Thor looks almost stunned by the aloof attitude of the smaller Judge. “Mortal, why dost thou not answer me? I come in good form, only to be brushed away?” He asks, to which Hearford doesn’t answer.

“Mental, explain thine actions!” Thor bellows, offended by Hearford’s obvious lack of respect for the God of Thunder. But Hearford continues ignores the big man, still walking toward the list of matches. “Arrggghh!” Thor yells, charging Hearford from behind, but the older man does a quick side step and grabs one of Thor’s arms. The old man tries to lock in a hammer lock, but the angry Thor powers out throws Hearford against the wall like a rag doll. Pinning him with both of his hands on his shoulders Thor looks at Hearford with fiery eyes, and the Judge stares back at him with a stony and surprisingly calm look: Few men have ever looked eye to eye with an enraged Thor, and fewer still have been able to keep cool like Hearford is now.

“Why dost thou ignore me so?” asks Thor, pushing him harder against the wall. Hearford looks back him spitefully, and answers. “Why should I pay attention to you?” He asks back apathetically. He kicks Thor hard in the stomach, knocking the wind out of the off-guard big man and causing him to release his grip. The Judge quickly gets out of the reach of the larger-than-life man and glares at him with scorn. “You know nothing of wrestling at all. I’ve spent a good portion of my life learning the ins and outs of wrestling. Then I see people like you, boys in giants bodies walking around thinking they have the raw skill it takes to be a champion.”

Thor stands up full height, affronted by the Judge’s claim. “To be honest, you’re all power and strength, no skill or intelligence. You know nothing of real wrestling. I’ve seen people like you, and I’ve defeated them all. I made them embarrassments.” Hearford begins to walk towards the card posted on the wall again, but Thor says something before he has time to look.

“Tis the God of Thunder that thou shalt be facing, Judge.” He says, pointing at Hearford. “And I shall show thee the skill of a mighty warrior of Valhalla! T’was intended to be a friendly match before when I asked for it, but thou hast done me a great wrong.” Hearford looks at him with disgust, and begins to walk for the locker room door. Thor speaks on. “You dare besmirch my honor with your falsehoods, and I shall regain it through battle. I shall fight with all the power my father hast vested in my vessel to avenge my noble name. Judge, be warned; thou shalt not have the chance to retreat away from me in the ring like you do now, like the fearful old man you are. I shall show you the almighty power that is the God of Thunder!”

With a slam, the door shuts behind William Hearford III, and each man is left alone with their thoughts.

Thor stands for a moment, back resting against the wall, soaking in the events of what just transpired. His eyes narrow and he strokes his red beard, deep in thought. Suddenly he propels himself off of the wall and begins to walk down the hall. As he walks his left arm suddenly snaps to the side, shattering the chalkboard on which the card was drawn. The pieces rain to the floor as Thor doesn’t even slow down to look at his mess.

Swiftly he moves through the dark corridors and half darkened hallways of the Hot Dog palace. Thoughts raging through his mind like a roaring river. “How did I allow that little ingrate to defeat me?” He walks on. “He has only had four matches? It takes more experience than that which he possesses to take down Thor.” He stops, watching a small Mexican women tote a cart full of toilet paper down the hall. “He has wrestled in another federation. Even become their champion. But their collected talent doesn’t rival e’en the lower card of the SJL. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.”

He strolls farther. “The impudence of that mere mortal, ignoring me when I doth extend my hand in congratulations and well wishes! Who does he think he is? Calling himself old, I have seen his breed come and go. Witnessed the birth of his entire clan and still he passes me like a leaf on the trail.” He pauses then grows a quiet smile, keeping his secrets to himself. “I will make this self-assured mortal know what it feels like to call down the thunder. He will see just how much skill I possess!” He walks on down the endless hallway never seeing the end.

William Hearford walks down the lonely hallways of the building in deep thought. “Thor to fight me? Damnit, why are my talents further wasted on people like him? Don’t they see what I am?” He walks down further, angrily trying to review the current events. “Everyone trying to get in my way, I’m nearly undefeated around here!” But, he stops, and thinks about that comment for a moment. “Almost.” Suddenly, his thoughts shift from Thor to Kamikaze.

“How could I let him beat me like that?” He asks himself, angered by his lose to someone obviously below him. “I have a World Title Contendership, and he has only a T.V. Title match. And yet he beats me!” Hearford looks around, thinking hard about what to do. “The boy has probably forgotten about me. About what happened in that cage.” A smile comes over his face. “But I’ll make him remember again. I’ll give him something that’ll he’ll remember me by for days to come.” Hearford reaches the door and walks to his car.

“No one beats me and forgets.” He says as he steps into his car. “No one ever forgets me.”

Easily the best promo I've seen come out of the JL in some time. Rock solid, Judge.

I like the dialogue between the two characters in the first segment, and I always mark for HISTORY IN MATCHES~, so it was cool to see Judge think back to his "loss" against Kamikaze. Neato, swank, and other 50s adjectives abound. Keep up the good work.

Usualy i try not to comment on other people's promos, as i really don't have much room to point out others flaws..but..Judge, Thor..I'm not sure who wrote what, but an excellent promo none the less! This just makes me all the more anxious to read the actuall match later on tonight.

An excellent lead in is always a highlight to me, great works guys! :)

Go ahead, I prefer you DO point out flaws if there are any. It's not like we're all perfect. Have no fear in giving suggestions man.
