Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 I think Benoit definitely topped DK. No question in my mind. Yeah, but Benoit's career was so much longer than DK's. Think of what DK COULD have done.
Guest Doyo Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 According to the notes that came with a tape I got, the April 1983 2 out of 3 falls match was listed as the #2 match of the 80's in the 1989 Wrestling Observer Yearbook. Was definately *****, for the time period at least.
Guest Jubuki Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 Benoit's career has been shorter than Dynamite Kid's. DK wrestled from 76 until 91 and still popped up for tours as late as 93. Benoit has been wrestling since 89.

I was under the impression that his addiction and back injury prevented him from competing at the level he did in his prime.
Guest Jubuki Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 It did. But the point of contention was that Benoit's career was longer. Not that his prime was longer. Understand?
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted November 15, 2002 Report Posted November 15, 2002 I suppose when Benoit said that he wanted to follow in DK's footsteps, he was smart enough to avoid being a complete jackass who gets REALLY angry when he doesn't take his horse steroids....
Guest XdojimeX Posted November 18, 2002 Report Posted November 18, 2002 "DK wrestled from 76 until 91 and still popped up for tours as late as 93. Benoit has been wrestling since 89." Actually Benoit officially got his start in '86, started training in '85. He'll be a 17 year vet in December. In Stampede had his first big program vs. Cuban Assasin as an up and comer. Took the leap to New Japan in '87 and debuted there vs. Masa Funaki. Bounced around between Stampede and the NJ dojo before having his first full year with Stampede in '89 as they we're starting to fold. Then he re-debuted in NJ as Pegasus Kid at the February Tokyo Dome show in '90.
