Don't evah count out MartyBall

Recommended Posts

Anybody else think that the Chargers have all the right stuff to win their conference? Let's face it they have a damn good head coach (Marty), damned good players at RB and QB (Tomilson, and.. uh.. Flutie, right?)

SD won by lookin at example. They saw Kansas City run the ball on the Pats, and they did it. Come on, it's Marty Schottenheimer, every Chiefs rushing record was probably set during his 'MartyBall' run.

The Chargers look really good this season.

Until Marty comes to Arrowhead and chokes, much like the last two KC playoff games (1995 and 1997). :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Hehehe.. Football is the best now, because it is unpredictable.

I think Denver and Oakland are slightly better, but the Chargers do have a chance. It will be interesting to see what San Diego does facing a team with a good run defense.

I'm always loathe to pick a Marty Schotten-heimlich coached team in the playoffs.

But they do have a good shot to win the AFC West.

Good for Marty, fuck Dan Snyder. I hope they do win the AFC West, and I'm glad Schottenheimer is in a good place to coach.

15 of his last 18 games are wins now.

I don't know if the Chargers are good enough yet. They are very close, but i don't see them winning the Division this year.

Oakland Raiders will win the division, while the Chargers will most likely get the wildcard

Chargers QB is Drew Brees, a Rookie

but it really does not matter who the QB is for Martyball, just as long there are not too many INTs. As the basic Martyball playbook is run to the left, run to the right, run to the center, pass to set up the run, as the ESPN guys have joked about.

Schottenheimer's teams (with the exceptions of the Skins last year) have always gotten off to fast starts and have collapsed down the stretch and in the playoffs. Players have said that Marty works their ass off, and by the late season they are exhausted. Also, the Chargers last year got off to a great start and then collapsed.

However, the way the team looks now they could bust into the playoffs.

AFC West is a tough division. Oakland's a Super Bowl contender, Denver looked like one till Monday night, San Diego looks really good and the Chiefs have a spectacular offense. The games should be good.

The Chargers showed me something against the Pats (aside from another loss in the prediction thread). It's too bad they're in, imo, the toughest division in the league.

Solid running game. Strong D. You never know...

Brees isn't a rookie. This is his 2nd year year in the league

He means rookie as a starting QB. In other words, he's the new starter. You get the idea, hopefully.

However, I don't see San Diego winning the division this year either, with Denver and Oakland in that division, it'll be tough for the Chargers to get so much as a wild card spot if they can't get past either of those teams.

The Chargers do have their work cut out for them.

Marty can't be giving Tomlinson 25-35 carries every game and expect to do well at the end of the season. Tomlinson broke down late last season after getting a shit load of carries.

With Oakland on it's last legs, I expect the Raids to take the divison but from next year on, AFC WEST belongs to San Diego.

Yeah this is the last year of Oakland being a contender for a few years at least. Oakland will be in major rebuild after this season.
