Guest tombstone Posted February 28, 2002 Report Posted February 28, 2002 OK, so the main event area is stacked (Rock, Austin, Tripper, HHulkH, Nash, Hall (through surely to go tag team sometime soon) Angle, Taker...) But surely they can spare sometime for the midcard... RVDs pops are huge and he is entertaining & passable in the ring, though not so hot on the mike. Edge's pops are big, he is class in the ring AND on the mike, has a workable moveset (now with new sharpshooter based submission move, nice)(hurts too) and a measure of momentum. Christian, see Edge as they comparable in talent in every department. Booker, proven talent, wasted in shitty skits. Test excellent big man, with enough moves and prescence to hide his HOSSS tendencies. The comparisons have been made with Nash's original diesel run and if Test got some momentum and was a bit more badass he 'could' main event one day (monster heel run, remember them when a gu got a few months to build up heat before being squashed by HHH, sorry, Hogan). So a midcard of almost uncomparable quality, add to that a possible cruiserweight division off Tajiri, Helms, Kidman, X - Pac, Matt & Jeff Hardy and with Rey Mysterio apparently under contract talks. Wasted and wasting. These five (and Rhyno and Benoit and Kanyon when they return) need airtime and sensible, logical plot developments. Booker & Test are a convincing pair, and a feud with some FACE Dudley boyz would be good. (set the duds up top turn face when the Hardys pick on spike, giving the Hardys the heel turn they so desperatley need), Test can steal Stacy from the Duds (furthering the womens man angle). Eventually though, Tests consideration for impressing Stacy pisses Booker off and costs them the tag titles against, well anyone. Booker takes advantage of his already not inconsiderable face response to feud with Test, who can then be fed to RVD in his IC title run. RVD, gets the IC title the hell off of Regal at WM, Regal dies, no - one cares. Cariies the title, defending A LOT to build up the Mr Monday Night / PPV character, possible heel turn of arrogance (Rocky esque, can use the arrogance either way) holds IC title until at least Summerslam, possible ladder match(es) with Hall if hes up to it. Edge. The Edge experiment has ground to a halt on the rocks of regal isle. The shamrock esque snapping is good and Edge can carry a heel campaign against RVD afetr mania, a big win over a face top liner (Rock, HHH, a turned Taker) would put him in the right direction. Christian. Whiny heel is also good, but matches have slowed doen and he needs more mike time and coherent stories, like Edge a fued with RVD wouldnt go amiss, or a programme with a face Booker and if possible a title run OF MEANING. The problem at the moment is a surplus of talent and a lack of TV time and titles of meaning. A good feud can be carried without title (HHH - Angle, HHH - Austin, Angle - Benoit) but in the midcard it helps to hold audience awareness. What do you think people..............?

Edge vs. Regal has been the main midcard feud for months and I can't think of two guys that are less compatible. If the writers would make the effort to give the midcard guys actual characters and good feuds, the whole show would benefit tremendously. The WWF keeps trying to come up with the big, main event angle that starts another ratings spike, but just solidifying the midcard (and thus having an entertaining show for a full 2 hours instead of a couple of good 10-20 minute segments) would also go a long way towards accomplishing that.

Jericho has survived thus far, because he is WWF Champion. All the other heels have been out of luck, and after HHH pounds Jericho into oblivion at Mania, Jericho could very well be depushed as well.

When he interfered fo tazz did he even talk once? Plus, his match with Rhyno at Backlash was the last quality match Raven had. "well anglesault i geuss you've got a good reason to be afraid...very afraid" no you don't because angle is so far ahead of raven and the other midcarders that he is not being shunted into the midcard, especially if they do the split. I'm guessing he'll be on the workrate intense side and possibly the number one heel of that faction.
