Guest El Satanico Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Eh if i had to choose between Jaws and Clockwork i'd probably always pick Clockwork. Just something about it entertains me more than Jaws ever has. Jaws is a great movie and all, but i don't know something about it gives me a blah feeling. I don't really know why, I just never cared for the movie all that much. I bought it on DVD, but it's not something i'd watch often.
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted October 7, 2002 The best part of Jaws isn't the shark. It's performances. Schneider, Shaw, and Dreyfeuss all do a great job in the movie. Bah... classic or not, I don't see a giant shark movie for the performances! The thing with Jaws was, I really liked the beginning parts, they did a good job of making the invisible menace seem, well, menacing. They should've either kept up with that, or gone all out with the cheesy shark from the beginning. You can't have both, at least not if you want me to like it and see it more than once. Guest Rob Edwards Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Meh I love both movies but I'd go for Jaws over Clockwork too, Jaws does a great job of picking on simplistic human fears (things you can't see) and plays them till the max. It remains the scariest film I've ever seen on a first viewing
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 7, 2002 You don't go to a movie like Jaws because you're looking forward to the peformances. It just so happened that it was written and acted movie. Which is why I like the movie.
Guest Angle-plex Report post Posted October 7, 2002 Clockwork wasn't in, so I got stuck with Natural Born Killers. It wasn't a bad movie, just kind of, well, strange.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted October 7, 2002 well if you like that movie then you must see So Fucking What SFW it stars Reese Witherspoon in a great performance about reality tv and the gross over dependance on violent tv news report shows
Guest notJames Report post Posted October 8, 2002 If you can handle a foreign film with subtitles (and a quite disturbing rape scene), see Man Bites Dog. It's a Belgian film about a documentary crew that follows a sadistic serial killer, little by little becoming less a detached band of observers and more like aiders and abettors. Read the reviews and judge for yourself. It's pretty sick and twisted and darkly humourous. I personally abhorred the rape scene (since I've known a lot of girls who've gone through that), but the rest of the film is great, especially the scene where he breaks into an old woman's apartment. Rated: not for everyone.
