Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted October 13, 2002 Hmm. All I know is ND beat Pitt. Close game, but they didnt lose. I say Oklahoma is #1, but I doubt they will be although they should get some first place votes.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted October 13, 2002 Yeah, I started watching baseball when it was 7-0 LSU and then I came back a few minutes ago and said "WHAT THE HELL????" It kinda helps me feel better about Tennessee, but not much. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted October 13, 2002 Ooooh, oooh can I bitch about my team's coach too? I want Bob Toledo's head. Badly. GODDAMMIT he had a chance for three points and decided to run one of his patented trick plays. Yeah, yeah, one worked (the Dubravac pass to Bragg for a TD) but this one didn't and cost the Bruins three. Then in the final quarter UCLA had to use timeouts twice because the plays were being called in late. Let me repeat: THE FUCKING PLAYS WERE BEING CALLED IN LATE!!! DECIDE WHAT THE HELL TO DO BEFORE THERE ARE FIVE SECONDS LEFT ON THE CLOCK!!!! Not to mention calling the pass on the play before out last-ditch field goal instead of running and giving Griffith a better shot. AAAAARGH!! WE HAD THEM!! Paus was bombing all over the Duck secondary (though he needs to learn that throwing into triple-coverage is NOT recommended) and Ebell had another great game, the defense held Onterrio Smith to just over 100 yards. However our special teams is a mess. And I want to kill the officials...the last play of the third quarter was a third-down incompletion...but the officials ruled that the clock had run out so Oregon got another chance and what do you know? 71 yard bomb to Howry. I'm very pissed, but the UCLA players played their hearts out today and I'm proud of them for that. UCLA had three key players injured (backup running back, and starting safety and defensive tackle who's out best defensive player) and didn't let that bother them, but it sucks that poor playcalling managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Miami/FSU game was awesome...just when FSU had it in hand Miami came back...and then Rix made two great throws but again poor playcalling = missed chance at victory. One of the better games I've seen in a while...missed the Red River Shootout, but it's nice to know that in a wild, wacky college football season some things remain the same - Texas still can't win a big game. Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted October 13, 2002 The Irish are gonna give me a heart attack one of these days, I tell ya. I watched part of the BYU/Air Force game last night, and...I'm worried. Worried bad. OK, so it was BYU's defense, but still, it's cause for concern. Notre Dame wins Oklahoma beats Texas (I lived the first 9 years of my life 3 miles north of the Red River in OK) Penn State loses Damn good weekend.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted October 13, 2002 WIDE LEFT~! I never get tired of FSU missing FG's to lose to Miami. I was sure Miami was going to lose, and then was just ecsatic they got those 2 late TD's, and then cursing again after the 3-yard punt. And then the missed FG. Awesome. Couple questions, though? 1) What was the personal foul call on the play where Rix got hurt? ABC never figured it out, and never really bothered to find it, which was odd because it was a huge call at the time. 2) Why didn't Bowden go for 2 on FSU's last TD? It would have put them up by 14, letting Miami only tie by getting 2 TD's rather than going into the lead. So, I ended up going 1/2 with my college teams. Penn State gets robbed, and Miami wins. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted October 14, 2002 [Well, the guy had made two field goals of comparable distance in the first half, so it's not like he couldn't make it. I still contest that it was the snap that screwed the kick up. If they had just attempted the field goal after the Miami timeout without running that draw, the kicker could have fallen on the ball and they would have had another opportunity. Totally different circumstances. Hitting a 40 yrd FG in the middle of the 2nd quarter is alot different than one at the end of the game.
Guest hardyz1 Report post Posted October 15, 2002 I'd like to make a final point in this thread. Carlyle Holiday makes Danny Wuerffel's arm look like a cannon. That is all.
