Worst Song(s) That You LOVE

Recommended Posts

Guest CoreyLazarus416

Andrew WK's music has no substance, is overly redundant, and is of rather poor quality.

BAD MUSIC.

Jeez, it's not like I'm insulting him. I mean, bad movies are worshipped as religious artifacts by most people that visit this board, so really, what's so wrong about calling bad music by it's name? It's still just good, harmless fun.

I don't care if I'm missing the boat, sinking the boat, or rocking the boat. Andrew WK is pure crap to me. Whether it's meant to be or not.

This probably tops it all:

Hanson - Where's The Love

And there is no shame in liking anything by ABBA. If you don't start swaying once Dancin' Queen starts up, you're not alive.

Ditto for Hall and Oates. They did an episode of Musicians on Bravo and they were tres cool. Same with Heart and Elvis Costello.

Aside: Why was Billy Joel, a musician, on Inside the Actors Studio?

Avril Lavigne's "Sk8er Boi" sucks insanely bad, but I love it.

I also love every Dashboard Confessional song (except 'Screaming Infidelities'), and MOST of them suck pretty badly.

I dunno... the whol e album The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most is just so great to listen to frm start to finish. It's the kind of thing where I couldn't just pick a song and play it. That's what's missing fomr a lot ot today's music. People don't take the time to craft an album... it's just a collection of singles that they hope will get lots of airplay. I miss whole albums that you can just put on and listen to from start to finish, like Tool's Aenima or the Replacements' Don't Tell A Soul.

Anyway, Dashboard is best listened to when you're in a self-immolaion kind of mood. Definitely not the music to listen to on your drive to work or when you're on the treadmill. ;)

uh...are you putting Elvis Costello in the same category as Hall and Oates?

He was saying that both Costello and Hall & Oates were on the Bravo series Musicians.

Oh, and there's nothing wrong with liking The Cardigans' "Lovefool." All Swedish pop is fine, with the very notable exception of Ace of Base.

I don't hate Sum 41 (although I need to say that their first album is much better than their second).

Is that worse than Hanson?

I'd say that liking Hanson is considerably worse than not hating Sum 41. I...uh...I think I saw an Elvis Costello poster in the bedroom of a Sum 41 member on MTV's Cribs, so they get the nod. Musically, they're just as innocuous and derivitave as Hanson. Giving a duck spiked hair and chains doesn't make it any less of a duck, after all.

I like the A*Teens cover of Dancing Queen better than the original.

Def Leppard and mid-90s dance music from bands like Real McCoy, Ace of Base, Maxamillion, Ghosttown DJs, they all make me feel tres stupid.

For some reason, people look down on me for liking Blue Oyster Cult. These people listen to Blink-182 and Sum 41 and stuff. Assfaces...Blue Oyster Cult rocks.

I can't even get past the title of that song, c'mon, it's friggin' DANCIN' QUEEN.

The first two things that makes me think of are Freddie Mercury and Richard Simmons...and Kotzenjunge. Three things, even.

Nah, not especially. Queen's got a couple songs I like, but I'm by no means a big fan of the band. I really dig Under Pressure, Bohemian Rhapsody (more because I find it amusing than think it's good), Bicycle Race (Same principle), and a few other songs here and there. Then they've got stuff like the whole Flash Gordon thing, We Will Rock You, Don't try Suicide, that just irritate the hell out of me.

Okay, I love Madonna. Material Girl, Like A Prayer, Papa Don't Preach, her 80s era was GOLD! Prince, too, was very good. Little Red Corvette would be up there as one of my all time faves, some of his stuff is brilliant.

God, there's so much crap I love. Pretty much any 80s pop (Culture Club, Salt n Pepa, B-52s etc). I'm sure if I tried thinking about it I'd get a huge list, but I can't be bothered.

I'm not sure what the argument is here, but I certainly wouldn't lump this stuff under "worst songs." Yeah, these two artists have definitely fallen off in recent times, but the old stuff is unashamedly good.

I liked the Thong Song if that counts. That song was hot.

I also like that Pink song "Just Like a Pill" and "Hit me Baby One More Time" by Britney...
