It's entirely possible. Whether or not they would be given the time and respect NJ could have provided is another story.

Its possible from anytime in 96 and 97. Because both were on the roster at the time. I guess it could have been a house show match from then or a Sat night match.

Great match that never happenend: Midnight Express vs Heavenly Bodies.

Kawada/Hashimoto or Kawada/Takada.

"I think Benoit did fight ultimo"

Maybe a WCW house show but certainly not in Japan. Aside from a throwaway tag in NJ with Malenko but that's it. Frickin' crime too, especially considering the match was sitting RIGHT THERE in their primes on a certain December night in Tokyo but didn't get the book.

Vader vs Aja Kong...damn.

 Hmmm. What's that feeling? Strange. Ah, now I know. It's an idea.

Dump Mutsumota :firing: Hulk Hogan

But I'd probably prefer a high profile match between Barry Windham vs. Ricky Steamboat in the late 80's. I think I've seen pictures of them in the ring but it's probably from a house show or a tag match.

...Bret Hart in a match with Kurt Angle would kick 345,000,000 different types of ass. And it wouldn't matter which played face or heel.

I'm sure these have been mentioned, but here's what I'd like to see:

Ric Flair [1989] vs. Kurt Angle

Ric Flair vs. Andre The Giant [1980]

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle

Cactus Jack vs. Tajiri [2000]

Sabu [1994] vs. Vader [1993]

Ricky Steamboat vs. Chris Jericho

Ricky Steamboat vs. Kurt Angle

Ricky Steamboat vs. Eddy Guerrero

Randy Savage [1988] vs. Kurt Angle

Triple H [2000] vs. Dusty Rhodes [OK, this would probably suck]

Midnight Express vs. Hollywood Blondes

Midnight Express vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit

Midnight Express vs. Tajiri & Mikey Whipwreck [2000-2001]

Rock 'N' Roll Express vs. Hollywood Blondes

Hart Foundation vs. Midnight Express

Hart Foundation vs. Owen Hart & British Bulldog

Owen Hart & British Bulldog vs. Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson

Tajiri & Mikey Whipwreck [2000-2001] vs. Tully Blanchard & Arn Anderson

Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard

Raven vs. Sabu [maybe this happened at some house show, but I don't remember these two ever facing each other during their time in ECW]

Bret fought Mankind on Shotgun Saturday Night 1/25/97, so it would have been face Bret vs. heel Mankind. Anyway, I want to see:

Owen vs. Guerrero

Bret vs. Angle

Benoit vs. Bret (92-94)

HBK vs. Benoit

Andre v Flair actually happened in Missouri which is where most of the crossover matches happened. Flair won by dq when Andre threw Flair over the top rope, where in the NWA, was illegal. Thats how Flair kept his title against Brody, Masked Superstar and other tall/giant wrestlers....

I dont quite recall Angle v Backlund. Maybe a house show???

I could have swore one of the first guys Angle made submit was Backlund. It may have been a segment, but wasnt Backlund coaching him or something?

Yeah, Angle & Backlund were doing a "tough love" thing and Bob gave taught him the crossface chickenwing. Angle put Bob in it in an interview on the WM 2000 pre-game on SNH. He really should bust out that move again sometime...

I'd really would have liked to see Angle, Benoit and possibly Lesnar work against the top UWF-I and Rings shootstyle guys ( Takada, Maeda, Tamura, Kohsaka, Han) and I guess they'd have to do it in WWE ring so they could do all all the cool shooty mat stuff but not be limited strictly to it. It's still possible for bothe Benoit and Angle to have the opportunity to work with all the pimped indy guys(Dragon, Ki). It might not seem likely now, but the wrestling world as we now it now didn't seem very likely a couple of years ago, either.

An AJPW/UWF-I feud would've been cool, as both companies were in their prime at about the same time, and it would be fun to see if the could mesh both styles into something cohesive(I had Kobashi fight Takada in VPW2, and it was GOOD, I tell you). I also doubt Baba would have screwed them over the way Chosyu did.

I'd have liked to have seen Hogan-Flair happen in '89, as both guys were in their primes and really at the height of their popularity(moreso than they were post '94), and it would have been a huge spectacle and Flair at that point would take a game Hogan to ***** easy. I'd have liked to have seen Hogan in AJPW in '93, as opposed to the NJPW stuff he did(hell, Bossman worked AJ in '93) because his best match was with Hansen in '90 and it just would have weird and interesting to see him go a couple times. Hogan getting kicked in the face by Kawada would be fascinating(I actually do like both guys, but for very, very different reasons, obviously).

-I think Tiger Mask Sayama vs. Tiger Mask IV would be a freaky mirror match.

-Ohtani vs. Vader(another VPW2 clash) would be great if they made it more than a squash. Vader as the monster beating the living hell out of Shinjiro, Ohtani doing his comic overselling and countering at all the right times with his springboards and kicks and some well placed attacks to the arm and leg. I might be perverse enough as a booker to have him pull off the upset.
