The New York Rangers beat The Hurricanes 4 to 1. Mark Messier and Peter Nedved both scored two goals each. Brian Leetch and Tom Poti, and Eric Lindros each had two assists.

The Avalanche have a tie game with The Stars 1-1. Although Avalance outshot Dallas in all periods, they didn't have a goal Radim Vrbata scored in the third period. Niko Kapanen scored in the first period for Dallas.

And the Los Angeles Kings VS Phoenix Coyotes are playing right now as of this typing. I'm not really watching it right now. TSN is airing it, but goddamn, they couldn't get their own f'n coverage of this game and had to simulcast with ESPN2. That's what ten percent ownership of a Canadian television network does to you I guess.

That's pretty cheap. You'd think they'd send a crew down there, or something, considering they've been hyping the hell out of the return of the NHL to their network, it's opening night, and Wayne Gretzky's getting his number retired.

Oh well, they'll probably save a boatload of cash this way, but it still sucks.

The end of that game was really good, IMO. Many close calls in that one.

Hockey was something I'd never expect them to do when it comes to getting the american feed of a sport. The networks have always sent crew, had their own commentators and never simulcasted like they did yesterday when it comes to hockey.

Hopefully, I'm not the only person to send a complaint to TSN through their website.

Sounds like a good opening night for the 2002/2003 NHL season. Tonight, the Calgary Flames host the Vancouver Canucks. Errrr....Go Flames Go.

Both games that I saw on Thursday were pretty good. Of course, when your team wins 6-0 it's always pretty good.

I have a beef with the ESPN guys though - try and stick to calling the game!! Maybe ESPN should get some TSN (or CBC) feeds and simulcast those to see how it's supposed to be done...
