Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted October 10, 2002 What's with all the damn ladder matches?! Lynn vs Styles vs Low Ki...very entertaining ladder match. Thus, they should have waited a while before they had another one. It was ok to do a ladder match so closely after Malice/Sabu, cause that one sucked, and the Sabu/Shammy one they had right after that sucked. But having ladder matches every week really hurts the match.

Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted October 10, 2002 They should try something new. Someone suggested a ladder/cage match which would be cool. A Hell in the Cell style cage around the ring with a ladder leading to a trap door in the top, and then another ladder on top of the cage leading to the belt... The Dames 0 Report post Posted October 11, 2002 They have had about 6 or 7 ladder matches in 15 weeks. That's insane and complete and total overkill. Dames

Guest Chuck Woolery Report post Posted October 11, 2002 Let's take a look at another statistic... Pre-Russo (8 weeks) X title changes: One. Post-Russo (7 weeks) X title changes: Three, I believe, possibly more. This = not good.

Yah, I suggested the cage/ladder match last week after they announced to do over the Styles/Lynn ladder bout. You just cant do these matches over and fucking over again. Something has to change up and I'm really surprised nobody has basically promoted a cage/ladder match before. You don't even need a top to the cage, just a standard cage would be enough. Imagine some of the spots they could do.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted October 11, 2002 X Division champions: 1. AJ Styles 2. Low Ki 3. Jerry Lynn 4. X-Pac So that's a title change once every four weeks, roughly. P.S. Pac/Styles will be a normal match, according to 411.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted October 11, 2002 From NWA - TNA: The very excitable Don West got caught up in the chaos at the end of the tremendous ladder match at the end of the October 9 show and announced that the X Title match between Syxx Pac and AJ Styles would be a ladder match. It won't be. Don just had ladders on the brain after watching the wild ending to the October 9 show.
Guest pete Report post Posted October 11, 2002 I don't know about a ladder/cage match. I mean how are they going to take the big bump to the outside. Plus, they would either be taking way too dangerous bumps i.e from the ladder into the mesh, or not taking enough big bumps because of the danger factor with a cage. Even though the finish of the Styles/Lynn ladder match ruined them for a while. Same goes for the finish of Benoit/Angle at Judgement Day 2001. I think bookers should stop coming up with crappy finishes to novelty matches. This is what kills the importance of matches all be it regular, Cage, Ladder, etc, plus they must keep the novelty of the match fresh. Right now we must stay away from ladder, 3-ways, Hardcore, TLC to name a few. The industry must come up with fresh concepts. Sure the ladder/cage match might be fresh, but the main problem is the booker must protect the match by having a clean finish. If not the novelty loses its effect. The same thing applies to frequency of the match. If you use the gimmick too much it loses its impact.Just look at the Dusty finish.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted October 11, 2002 If they live by the ladder they'll die by the ladder. Eventually they'll be unable to top themselves and when they try to go back to normal matches it'll be too late. It also takes away from anyone giving a damn about any of the other matches.
