Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Let me put it this way...who works stiffer, Regal or Brock? I say if RVD isn't too big of a pussy to take all of Regal's stiffness, than Brock should be able to take it from Holly.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Well...RVD was likely stoned at the time. I give more credit to Benoit fpr letting RVD kick him in the head with his sloppy offense. The difference between RVD striking Benoit and HHH is a good 6 inches of HHH protection.
Guest CanadianChick Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Fine...but who about not selling for Brock and putting him in a situation that he didn't know what to do.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Fine...but who about not selling for Brock and putting him in a situation that he didn't know what to do. Well, you have a point with the selling, but, damnit, ifor the last time, it was not Holly's fault that Brock's shoes got untied. Anyay, as for Holly's injury, I hope DDP is laughing his ass off.
Guest bob_barron Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Good point- was it the bump that ended DDP's career Holly's fault or was it a freak accident?
Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 It's not the stiffing him back part I'm arguing about...what I'm saying is don't drop someone on their Goddamned head and risk paralyzing them over soemthing like that.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 It was Holly being a stiff asshole. It was like a clothesline or something.
Guest bob_barron Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I thought DDP said it was a superplex. With Brock- Holly was being uncooperative it seemed so I think Brock let him know. I mean Angle, Brock and Regal are three people I would not want to fuck with in the ring
Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 DDP had a bad back for a while...it probably would have happened sooner or later anyway. I don't think it's fair to blame Holly for that.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 The thing that always killed me is that they continually put Holly in matches with guys who can't take care of themselves and have to make a good impression. He's not in there with guys who are secure...he's in there with Maven and Orton. Guys who aren't going to fall short on a clothesline because they don't want to make anything look bad. These guys take shots from this prick full on. Anyone else who's called up over the next year will be getting off easy, since Brock decided he wasn't going to stand for Holly's shit.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I thought DDP said it was a superplex. With Brock- Holly was being uncooperative it seemed so I think Brock let him know. I mean Angle, Brock and Regal are three people I would not want to fuck with in the ring It was the combination of like three or four moves. I think at some point, Page's head snapped back and caused some of it. DDP had a bad back for a while...it probably would have happened sooner or later anyway. I don't think it's fair to blame Holly for that. Holly goes out there and tries to hurt people. He finally does, and he should get blamed. Didn't he break Maven's hand or something like that the week (Several fingers, maybe?) doing something totally unnecessary?
Guest bob_barron Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 It's probably then not fair to blame Brock for Holly. Holly probably has had a lot of wear and tear and Brock's powerbomb just sort of was the thing that set it off. Is Holly still going out with bb??
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 One point though. "Brock was put into a position where di didn't know what do to" Okay, fine, but how did "drop him on his head" seem like a good idea?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I hate Holly for reasons I don't hate anyone else. Hell...even Bradshaw only hurts people because he sucks...Holly does it on purpose.
Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Look...I'm not trying to justify Holly's actions, whether or not he's just a stiff worker or he's just an asshole. But I just don't see any wrestling-related incident that would make me condone intentionally dropping someone on their head.
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I hate Holly for reasons I don't hate anyone else. Hell...even Bradshaw only hurts people because he sucks...Holly does it on purpose. Exactly why I hate him. Last year, RVD was leaving his trail of blood, but really, he wasn't TRYING to break 170 people's noses. Angle didn't MEAN to break Holly's arm. Holly is trying to hurt someone, somehow. He got lucky with Page.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 And RVD stopped doing the move. The fear of Angle's wife made him change!
Guest bob_barron Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 RVD has improved greatly and I think his deal was- If I potato you, feel free to potato me right back Holly is just a bitter old prick who thinks going out there and abusing Randy Orton is "cool".
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 And RVD stopped doing the move. The fear of Angle's wife made him change! I almost died laughing when I heard that Karen Angle spoke out. What WAS the move, anyway?
Guest the pinjockey Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Look...I'm not trying to justify Holly's actions, whether or not he's just a stiff worker or he's just an asshole. But I just don't see any wrestling-related incident that would make me condone intentionally dropping someone on their head. I don't think Brock dropped him intentionally. I thought that they said that Holly was sandbagging and not going up for anything. And if that is the case why should Brock try and protect him. If one guy does not want to work let him know what happens when the other guy decides not to work anymore. I have no problem with that at all. And I go a little easier on Holly in regards to the TE kids because some people in the ring are going to hurt you with some shots like Regal being stiff and things like that so if you can't take a forearm or chop in training weed them out now. He was a prick in regards to constantly trying to sound and act like Tazz.
Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 If Holly was "trying" to hurt people, do you really think Vince would keep him around? I mean, even Vince McMahon can't be that narrow-minded.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Everytime he hit the VanDaminator he left his opponent bloody. It was like 4 months of the worst luck EVER. I remember he would get passed around in feuds so quick on house shows...then they eventually made him face Tazz and Raven all the time because they were in ECW and the WWE must have figured...fuck them
Guest the pinjockey Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 If Holly was "trying" to hurt people, do you really think Vince would keep him around? I mean, even Vince McMahon can't be that narrow-minded. Absolutely he would. They like to try out the young guys or guys with attitude problems. Vince is just as big of a prick as Holly is thinking he is all bad ass and wanting to show up the young guys and make them "pay their dues".
Guest Anglesault Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Everytime he hit the VanDaminator he left his opponent bloody. It was like 4 months of the worst luck EVER. And the bad luck is compounded by the fact that he wasn't just doing it to, say, Raven. Didn't he bloddy Austin, Angle, and like the Undertaker in the span of a month?
Guest alfdogg Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 If one guy does not want to work let him know what happens when the other guy decides not to work anymore. I have no problem with that at all. Point taken. But still, if *I* was wrestling Holly, I could think of a better way of doing it than dropping him on his head. That was my whole point, which I've had to say about 79 times now because everyone seems to be ignoring it.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 Fuck. I was just reading about this somewhere. How they would send Holly in to rough up newbies so they would learn their role.
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 What's amusing is that Holly likens himself as some legit tough guy when back in August in a match with Rico on Velocity, Holly threw some of the saddest punches I have ever seen. Not even Lance Storm has made me burst out laughing due to the sheer sucktitude of poor punching. Holly, to me, just seemed like some bitter old guy with a bad hairstyle, worse teeth and a visible bald spot that thinks he's owed something for sticking around the company for so long yet doing absolutely nothing to better himself. I remember an interview last year for wwf.com where he whined on various subjects, including how Billy Gunn hadn't been on RAW in ages, which pretty much reduced his credibility down to 0 for me.
Guest the pinjockey Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I do get a kick out of the whole senoirity concept. Someone needs to walk up to Holly, maybe lean over his bedside by this point, and tell him that in the eight or so years he has been there he has been over for about three months total.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 IIRC he bloodied Angle a bunch of times (which made Mrs. Angle speak out about how RVD was too dangerous to be in their with Kurt. Of course she was right...but that's neither here nor there) Booker got it a whole lot on the house show circuit. He got Jeff and Jericho and Austin and Taker at various point. Pretty much...every time he did it people were busted open. Then he stopped doing it completely until the #1 contender for the IC title shot at MAnia between RVD, Storm and Big Show...when RVD busted it back out on Show. Now it just comes out every blue moon. I think he's done more Van Terminators in the last 3 months than Van Daminators. The move should be left behind anyway. This isn't ECW.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted October 13, 2002 Report Posted October 13, 2002 I have a feeling a guy like Holly on a long term injury break may well find himself out of a contract anyway
