Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Dmann - the 2-disc Bug's Life is available at plenty of online retailers at a lower price than the market square value. DVD Planet and Digital Eyes have it in stock frequently, with the latter selling for $31.99 (Planet sells it cheaper, but are currnetly out of stock). You may begin splurging.....now. Thanks for the infor. Sadly DVD Planet says they're out of stock at the moment. 29.99 would've been a decent price too. I happen to own three out-of-print titles myself, Criterion Collection editions of This is Spinal Tap, Robocop and Silence of the Lambs. I've kept Tap and Lambs because the features differ from the MGM versions and CC: Robocop is currently the only special edition DVD of it produced in R1
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted October 16, 2002 OK, so buying Halloween right now is a no no? Got it. You're damn right AB screws with us with all these Halloween issues. Are they re-releasing any of the others or just the original? I think it'd be ultra-hyper-super-duper-uber sweet if they got the OK to put out the "producer's cut" of Halloween 6 on DVD, but I doubt that'd ever happen. I believe they are just re-issuing the original. As for Halloween 6, I'd also love to see a legit producer's cut DVD released. Sadly, Anchor Bay doesn't own the rights to it, Dimension does, so don't get your hopes up.
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted October 16, 2002 Speaking of hard to find. I've been wanting to get Ginger Snaps but I can't find a widescreen disc. Is this movie available in widescreen anywhere? Was it not shot widescreen? Anybody know? I have the same problem with Black Christmas. I haven't found a widescreen version of it at all. But I KNOW that it is widescreen. There's a special edition coming out so I'm hoping that will be widescreen. You can pick up the Canadian special edition of Ginger Snaps, which is widescreen and loaded with special features. Check eBay, there are usually plenty there for a decent price. As for Black Christmas, according to an interview with Bob Clark, it was filmed in fullscreen, and only slightly matted at around 1:66.1. The current DVD is actually a good transfer of the original element. The new SE DVD coming out December 3rd will be matted at 1:66.1, and includes commentary by Clark, as well as a seperate commentary by John Saxon and Keir Dullea. I can't wait!
